There is NO tension whatsoever. In the terror, the setting of the boats/ice/dark nights was fab.

We were introduced to the character, and the first death was of someone getting sick after seeing something in the water and perishing.

In this instead, the very first opening scene is SPOOKY GHOST coming at you and killing someone before we are introduced to any characters.

Then its just stalking/haunting them while some old japanese guy keeps saying, OH THIS SPOOKY GHOST HAS FOLLOWED US FROM JAPAN (even though it took 30 years to get here).

The characters themselves are so one dimensional it's not interesting, there is no complexity/depth to them.

If the we started the intro of them being rounded up, and then being in camps, an then the spooky ghost haunting started happening due to the abuse of inmates and the direct result of their/captors sins then yeah that'd be cool.

The plot is a generic oriental spooky demon that kills people. The last season was way more subtle about the magical elements, but in this one they're going completely all out from the beginning so there's barely any mystery.
