the problems are the writing, the bad character development, the subversion of the setup from TFA etc etc

Should've made the movie one big chase scene in space, would've been cool. They overstuffed it with the terrible casino and salt planets and the Luke-Rey storyline that pretty much went no where. The ending basically leaves no room left for anything but Rey defeating Kylo, which we already knew was going to happen but now there's nothing else to look for.

It is kino. This movie singlehandedly turned Luke Skywalker, the most boring character of Star Wars, into an actual layered character that was interesting to watch. Too bad it didn't do the same with Rey.

I don't understand why ppl who don't like these TFA and TLJ and still give them a pass as technically competent and havig nice cinematography. Marvel movies are far more competently made and have way better cinematography that anything seen in TFA and TLJ. Those films are film in a very lazy and uninspired way. They don't look like movies made for cinema but rather TV shows. The sets are obvious sets and there is no sense of scale, you feel like you are right there withe them, in a small studio. There si not one single sequence that makes you WOW, only genreic garbage we've seena billion times, watch out for the orange explosion and PEW PEW explosions. Only Rogue One actually had some nice cinematography and original stuff. The dogfights were so much better than the sequel crap.
