boring old movie with pointless pretentious ending
a movie that honestly seems weird the first time you watch it, but there's a lot to uncover as to why it seems weird
A good movie
There's a great scene with Prince Andrew, otherwise a decent movie.
kino
Just watched it earlier today. Pretty good stuff.
Whatever you do, do not search for hidden messages in the movie on the Internet. Every single theory is wrong.
Boring and overrated
This except about EWS.
Movie itself has very little substance apart from some interesting cinematography.
The context matters and this movie was made in a time where 99% of the horror movies looked super cheap, basically like tv movies.
Moon Landing was a much better Kubrick film.
>Already looks like a lunatic on the first scene
Good casting Stan!
kino
A bone chilling slow burn
the Kubrick theory is a smear campaign to counteract the implications in Eyes Wide Shut
turn off Sky and watch the longer US cut instead.
The pro-Kubrick theory is perpetrated by coping morons who think he's a good guy because he made good movies. Polanski made good movies and he's an confirmed pedo. Kubrick was just another perverted Hollywood jew. EWS was him bragging, not him exposing.
Kino
a nigger
Watched this with my socially conscious “woke” girlfriend in a theater and she was genuinely shocked, great scene
a movie that everybody pretends its the most scary and brilliant horror movie of all times, just like hereditary but its both are actually shit.
A pretty good movie for a Saturday night, you got some munchies to watch with it?
How did Jack make the ladies so wet with that hairline?
>le US cut
the US cut includes more scenes because Kubrick thought Americans would be too dumb to understand the film without them.
>1h 54m
Eating tasty chip and battered sausage.
Serious question: are there any other movies that have such a large volume of analysis and meaning debate as The Shining does? I really can't think of any, especially not ones that have last for 40+ years.
Probably 2001 Space Odyssey, maybe.
What’s the point in watching a movie like The Shining when you’re the kind of person to pause a movie after 10 minutes to post about it on Yea Forums? You should just watch Friends and The Office.
Jack Torrance is a pedophile and he's abusing his son sexually and physically. The signs are everywhere. None of the "ghosts" actually exist.
Eyes Wide Shut, Blade Runner, Apocalypse Now yadda yadda, there's a lot of these 2deep films, you can see their themes dissected in their wikipedia articles all the time
fuck yeah
head in the sand retard. kubrick loved secret meanings and double plots. the shining is about american exceptionalism.
>Not having a dirty curry
Are you even a brit, m8?
>Year of our lord 2019
>Sky cinema
this isnt your original criticism. ur an npc
No I am Irish
It is on the now TV stick, good selection of movies with it
Back in the 70s ugly men could become sex icons. Something about the hippie free love movement made girls swoon over guys who'd be considered ugly creeps in any other period. Thank god those dark times are over
a solid movie
>Every single theory is wrong
they're also all right
While that might be true, one should find their own meaning instead of watching fucking garbage like Room 237.
kys
White mans bourbon.
Also the beginning of slow-burn-psychological-horror-kino genre
based on the length, shart
because you're watching the cut version
OP here just finished it. Brilliant film thoroughly enjoyed it, I now see where some of the pop culture references come from. That apollo 11 shirt Danny wore adds a little to the Kubrick moon theory I think. I dont know what to understand the meaning of the whole movie just yet, will have to check out some theories
Time to start up another Kubrick classic?
