Shit list

Sopranos
Mad Men
The Wire
The Leftovers
Rome
True Detective
Twin Peaks
Deadwood

Sopranos was boring as fuck.
Did mutts like it because they told themselves they totally could be like that because they had an Italian ancestor 5 generations back?

>tfw james gandolfini is dead

never really get used to this feel

> Buffy the vampire Slayer/ Angel
> Doctor Who (until it died with Cappaldi)
> Fringe
> Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
> Black Sails

This. I mean the show was good. But i dont see how its apparently so much better than other good shows (ie Breaking Bad, early GOT, Mad Men, etc)

Sopranos

The Shield

Absolutely terrible fucking tastes. Unironically kill yourself

Breaking Bad was't good either.
It had plot for maybe a 2 hour movie, but every scene took twice as long as it needed, and of course we get such exhilarating shots like a family eating dinner for 2 minutes or other completely unnecessary mundane scenes that were included just to pad out the length.

>Peak of the medium:
Mad Men
Sopranos

>Excellent:
The Leftovers
Deadwood
The Wire
Twin Peaks

>Great
Bojack Horseman
You're the Worst
Fleabag

The Deuce has been fantastic so far and would easily deserve a spot if its third season holds up.

>You're the Worst
Was that taken over by women writers halfway through season 2? It became this unfunny sentimental garbage out of nowhere. It's like it's trying to be Scrubs but without the charm.

Original Star Trek
M*A*S*H*
X Files

Also if including cable shows
Sopranos
Tudors
Deadwood

This is a genuine question:

I watched Mad Men while it was still on air and I really enjoyed it, it was a good show (and maximum comfy).

But what makes it peak of the medium? It was basically just a soap opera when you break it down.

>It was basically just a soap opera when you break it down.
You're not wrong, but should "soap opera" inherently be an insult to something?

What women? It was curated by Stephen Falk from start to finish, and the rise of serious teams like growing up, depression, death and break up is what makes that show great. I don't even like most jokes there but the rest was memorable

>I have clinical depression even though I was all chirpy and constantly laughing throughout season 1
>you can't fix my depression
>2 episodes later
>you fixed my depression!

Super memorable, that's for sure.

Sopranos>Fargo>The Wire>Chernobyl

Twin Peaks
Frasier

>This. I mean the show was good. But i dont see how its apparently so much better than other good shows (ie Breaking Bad, early GOT, Mad Men, etc)
The Sopranos is on an entirely different level than those other shows, which, by comparison feel like one and done affairs. I have no desire to watch Mad Men or Breaking Bad again, but I could easily watch The Sopranos again, and I've seen in twice. I think it comes down to the dialogue and the acting, which in the Sopranos has layers to it, there's potentially a few things going on in a scene at a given time. The Sopranos puts it's characters in the center of attention with the overarching plot of the series/season in the background. Every conversation feels natural and each character seems like they were made to play that role.

I also don't think i missed anything big on my first(and only) viewing of Breaking Bad and Mad Men, I could be wrong of course but i think i got everything in one view. With the Sopranos on the other hand multiple viewings give new perspectives, theories, and realizations. I could spend a few minutes thinking about Breaking Bad, about the themes of the show, the characters and their connections with the theme. But I could spend hours thinking about the Sopranos(and have) because there are many dimensions to it. The Sopranos is also very, very funny even though most of the time(especially in the later seasons) the show is a strait up drama. There are dozens of lines that have stuck in my head as being both hilarious and iconic. BraBa/Mad Men don't have that, I can't think of anything other than a few meme thinks Walter White said or Roger Sterling.

there's only a bunch of good shows in this sea of garbage
Yea Forums will disagree more or less on a few titles but we all know pretty much what's good and what's bad and that's why everyone is mentioning the same stuff

trying to fit in

kek

I hate that they felt the need to photoshop more hair onto Tony's head.

Rome is pretty based but I admit that after one season of Pullo and Voraenus acting like complete fucking retards, doing 180s and somehow surviving in spite of that it's getting a bit tiring, especially the drama with Voraenus getting cucked and losing his mind periodically.

It's like they fucking tricked me into enjoying their OC by setting it in historical context. Also Mark Anthony is unironically based.

I still don't understand why people like The Wire, let alone put it in the same rank as Mad Men and the like.

I think Sopranos is definitely in the top three but there's so many fucking completely despicable humans in it (in virtually every way) that I prefer The Wire simply because there's less black and white characters there.

all the italians i know watched it and they're all retards

Rome
Oz
How It's Made
The Twilight Zone
MASH

It's a Gabagool Thang.

I don't have a trace of Italian blood and I love it. Why do euros obsess over the "muh ancestory" meme?

Should have put down the fork when he had the chance.

I see people are still pretending the wire isn't dated garbage.
