remember how the sister says the kid stares at the sun and gets ideas? how the sun/light is constantly used as an omen for things to come. Also the mysterious rock that was 'found' by the army member and how the english teacher said he was attracted to it and in the end was seen taking it to the basement (its original home). Also how the mom says she feels drained by the kid and is shown at one point face down and 'drained' in the sunlight outside. The dad is also seen as a pioneer of a break through cutting edge technology, and in one scene appears to be looking at human inventions in disdain. Underlying the mid/end scenes you can hear the theremin being played and the text overlay is littered with swirly motifs which are all very alienesque.

Since the overlying message of the movie has to do with the rich and poor and their tendencies, it relates to the fact that poor people make plans to be rich all the time and fantasize about it but in reality will never come to pass.

Also goes back to what the father was saying in the gym about if you don't make plans, then nothing can go wrong, as the kid just made a plan despite what the father said earlier.

Because core theme is an absolute shithole. Imagine the smelliest guy on the public transport killing you because you discussed, without being overtly harsh or holier than though, that you don't really appreciate his smell. Oh yeah and you discussed in in the privacy of your home with your wife. The ultimate gimmick was husband closing his fucking nose because stabber smelled that bad. Just imagine being in that situation and the one thing that was bothering you to a highest degree was a fucking smell. Even if the guy shat himself, closing the nose with fingers instead of a sleeve or something just screamed "I'M A KOREAN DIRECTOR THAT CARES ABOUT CLASS STRUGGLE VERY MUCH".

The way they showed the "class struggle" was abysmal as well. 'member the juxposition between the big wardrobe versus taking used clothes in the gym after the storm? It's fucking clothes man, you would expect asians to be somewhat more zen about stuff, especially in surface level stuff like that. Oh also poor dad didn't like going for groceries with rich mom and playing cowboys with rich dad, poor him. Yeah families just playing a little bit on son's birthday, focken rich folks I tell ya! And all the fucking rich people do, i mean fucking his wife??? What the fuck is this degeneracy HATE rich folks aha.
Not to mention that the whole thing would not have happened if they just said "yeah sorry can't let you in when the homeowners are away, I mean it's an infinitely legit excuse" to the previous maid.
And I also have some autism level stuff like rich mother wanting to share the noodle dish with husband or poor mother even though there was barely any food there, she ate it in a heartbeat but spent couple of minutes asking everyone if they would like some. And what amount of debt did the old maid and her husband have on their heads? She was working for years in high-ish paying job with barely any spending, I really doubt they couldn't pay it back.
