Geordi and Riker served together before joining the Enterprise crew, but they rarely talk about it.

Why didnt they make the new Enterprise in Star Trek Beyond a Vengnace-class ship? The Enterprise is suppose to be the most powerful starship in Starfleet.

Attached: 1555626438452.jpg (1600x901, 197K)

Are the /trek/ timelines converging?

Why would Chad Riker acknowledge a blind incel like Geordi? Geordi was lucky Riker never snapped his visor and kicked him out of the airlock.

I dunno what /trek/ is, this is /StaTre/

Attached: Spock.gif (346x256, 2.52M)

Oh hmm I must be traveling between parallel realities again. Well this always sucks. Is /StaTre/ a nice general or should I feel like I'm in danger?

In the mirror universe Vulcan gf has you

/StaTre/ is a hip, happening place where people of all ages can gather to talk about Star Trek

The more you want me to trust you the more apprehensive I feel. Look, I don't really care what this general is called I just want to get home. Who's top science geek around here? I'm sure this is a wonderful Star Trek thread but I have another general I really need to get back to.

lol

That was Section 31 tech, they probably burned all schematics when Marcus died. I'm sure Starfleet recovered a lot from the crashed ship in San Francisco, but they probably wouldn't want to build a ship like that. It's an oversized dedicated warship (that got taken down by a Constitution-class) and would also be a replica of a ship best known for killing thousands and leveling part of a city.

In this mirror universe thread, not only do I VEHEMENTLY HATE The Original Series, The Animated Series, The Next Generation, Enterprise, Deep Space 9 and Star Trek Beyond, but also I AM ABSOLUTELY ENAMOURED with Star Trek Voyager, Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Into Darkness and of course, all of the upcoming projects.
I love Tilly!

Attached: IMG_6526.jpg (1024x765, 58K)

Starship classes seem largely arbitrary. All that matters is energy output, regardless of size.

Attached: Prototype Voyager.jpg (806x362, 48K)

If it was so great then why did it get btfo by a ship half its size?

That’s cool mate. The best part about /SraTre/ is we can all come together and dish what we love and dislike about Star Trek. While the actress isn’t very attractive, I found Tilly to be one of the more endearing STD characters, similar to Barclay in a lot of ways.

Wasn't most of that due to circumstantial sabotage by Scotty?

It still got btfo.

To respect your point both symbolically and practically, the limited and less motivated mercenary crew does leave it vulnerable to infiltration.

It doesn't matter how or why a ship was btfo if it gets hijacked and smashed on it's maiden voyage. Best ship explosion in Trek is when Robocop's ship crashes.

Stop making these

You’re welcome to stay and participate, leave, shitpost or do anything you’d like.

Actually, it's /trek/.

What is?

the tripfags can't find it in the search field

ewwwww

>Allegedly the character of Data (Brent Spiner) was inspired by many sources. Roddenberry is said to have felt that Spiner's initial portrayal of the character was too human-like, leaving many viewers confused as to Data's exact nature. One of the suggestions put forward by the writing staff would be for Data to make a short "bleep bloop" noise whenever he confirmed an action or produced a computation. Spiner, however, tended to notably vocalize the sound effect much to the annoyance of other cast members. In addition he would make whirring sound effects when moving or just before responding to a question. Eventually it was decided that limiting Data's vocabulary by avoiding the use of contractions was the best way forward. Spiner's original interpretation of the character would become the basis of his performance as the character Lore.

There must always be a /trek/ on Yea Forums!

Does TNG finally look dated after 30 years?

I'm bored with most of the Star Trek related copypastas, but I like this one because it almost sounds plausible.

OP here. I think it's time for this general to make a course change, that's why I changed the name. There's been too much bullshit lately and I think we can do better.

Pfft, you're bullshit.

Mock me all you like but my intentions are earnest and straight forward.

You're making this whole experience tedious and boring. Just call it /trek/ and post about Trek.

Attached: ss+(2019-08-10+at+11.28.06).jpg (1254x877, 135K)

TOS has so much soul it’s unbelievable.
The id, ego, and superego dynamic between Bones, Kirk, and Spock and their friendship and arguments are so great.
The lack of special effects that led to more cerebral plots rather than just a bunch of cgi space battles about nothing like today.
The QT alien girls in every episode.
The great writers like Harlan Ellison and other big and respected names in classic sci fi.
The hard science concepts combined with philosophical struggles.
The actors truly portray a sense of duty, camaraderie, and purpose in a genuine way, and many of them were real military men, not soi actors:
>Leonard Nimoy was US army
>Deforest Kelly was army air corps
>James Doohan was Canadian infantry and landed at d day were he was shredded up by machine gun fire and a metal cigarette case his brother gave him stop a bullet from entering his heart, he also lost fingers on his left hand and never shows that hand on the show. After he recovered he joined the RAF as a spitfire pilot and was almost court martialed for slaloming his spitfire between telephone poles on a dare.
>not to mention Gene Roddenberry himself was a B29 pilot in WW2 and flew 89 combat missions and survived three crashes, then was Lapd after the war where he got into writing from all the press releases he had to write.

Attached: justice_hd_061.jpg (1440x1080, 333K)

They do bring up the issue of starfleet speaking the same language a single time, in Voyager when the dudes from Earth's past wonder why they're speaking japanese and jive

If I met aliens and they spoke English I'd figure that pretty normal for an advanced species capable of faster than light travel, or maybe they just did their research before saying hello
It doesn't anyway matter because you don't have to speak the same language to fuck every hole is a goal, you know?

That doesn't address my post you fat mong.

T'Pol and Spock knew this

ive been rewatching voyager and im halfway through the second season and neelix doesnt seem as shitty as i remember especially compared to nonentities like harry kim and shit characters like paris

Paris is based especially later on when he gets more episodes focused on him but i agree with Hating Harry if anything he gets worse as the show goes along.

Some of the not-lego minikits are actually pretty nice

You deserve to die just for liking that combination of shows.

Harry was based, he shut down the Borg titcow because he knew Voyager needed his wizard powers.

Harry wasnt a wizard tho, he had a banging gf back home

Hey yo gimme dat galvanized zinc plating look.

There's nothing wrong with Tom or Harry. Actually the only thing wrong with Tom is his hairstyle in the first season.

To get promoted there has to be a vacancy in rank.

Don't project your lack of personality.

>To get promoted there has to be a vacancy in rank.

I find it hard to believe that of all the people Voyager lost they didnt lost a single person above ensign

Counterpoint: TOS is fucking boring and that's why it's one of only two Star Trek series to ever get cancelled.

The other was boring as shit too.

There were probably people more overdue for promotion.

It got cancelled because idiot network execs were looking at the data wrong and didn't realize how popular the show actually was.

Counterpoint: no trek series ever lost as many viewers as DS9

>Set up a dynamic of Starfleet vs Maquis on Voyager
>Writers immediately forget it

Why did they do this?

Absolutely Disgusting.

It was canceled in he 60s all tv shows then were fucking boring if anything TOS is the one exception to that.

In Star Trek, position/assignment has always been more important than rank, which typically denotes experience rather than potential.

lol it's a conspiracy

Wait, Cardassians don't have tails, do they??

Unironically nobody gave a shit.

Yes it is.

Let's be real. Unless you're over sixty, the original series is fucking boring and most of the episodes are shit.

IT'S BIN A LAWNG ROWD

Then why set it up?

Perhaps Season 3. But there are some pretty intense episodes in S1 and 2. Also some camp classics.

>Troi's eyes: Say your fucking lines lol

Sisko caring about human racism was cringe

They're campy as fuck but most of them are quite enjoyable unless you suffer from ADHD like a fucking stationfag...

Couter...agree: DS9 is the third worst Star Trek. Literally never finished it. That makes TOS and DS9 the only ones I've never finished.

That "other" show (not Enterprise) isn't actually Star Trek and doesn't count.

Let's be real. Zoomers suck cock

Attached: Sneed annihilates zoomer.png (522x642, 83K)

Honestly, I wouldn't have minded it if he just dropped like one line about how it's nice that humanity got the point where anyone can enjoy the kinds of luxuries that cabaret club simulation gave, which actually would be in line with Star Trek.
But to turn into a massive sperg that doesn't want to let his son go, not because it's a bar but because people were dicks 400 years ago is fucking bullshit in Star Trek.

>intense camp classics
it's slow and the sets look cheap. the stories are well written and still hold up from a technical perspective but unless someone forces themselves to stay awake the original series is a total snooze

>strawman something
not even going to bother replying to your point since you didn't bother to address mine

Its especially cringe since Sisko started the show being incredibly racist to Ferengi

>didn't bother to address mine
I disagreed with you. I'm not going to go on an exhaustive expose about how you're wrong, because if you think that TOS is "boring as fuck" then how can I convince you otherwise? That's your opinion. It might be due to ADHD since it doesn't have pew-pew space battles every ten minutes. It might also be due to your Uncle molesting you in a captain Kirk costume when you were 8. Who knows?

Your conspiracy theory is stupid. If it were a popular show they wouldn't have cancelled it.

>TOS is so BORING
Maybe DISCO is more your speed

I'm ignoring you because you aren't making an argument you're rolling around in your persecution complex like a pig in shit and I'm not interested in reading your schizo rants

GIDDN FRAM DAR DUH HEAR

People dont like Tuvix?

Why is Voyager discussion always about how poorly written the characters are and how writers forgot their own bullshit sometimes between episodes in the same season?
What are Voyager's greatest strengths as a series? Coffee nebulas, tits and ass characters, "it's just so comfy", and transporter accidents creating rapists don't count.

Ratings were in their infancy then. Metrics were not as easily understood as they are now, and there's an argument to be made that Nielsen ratings eere never a true gauge of popularity to begin with.

Why on Earth would you ever hate Q??

>Claims to be ignoring someone
>Continues to reply to them
Checks out

>What are Voyager's greatest strengths as a series?
When it goes full TOS
youtube.com/watch?v=4A1aRnHGHXo

Because Voyager has a female captain and incels fucking triggered more than a brown woman not seeing a black Thor.

Look, it's angriest poster in thread-guy! yaaaaay!

Attached: keiko344.jpg (705x530, 49K)

Both the episode and the character cause disagreements, so I'd say yeah. Same with Q, plenty of people like him, but I've seen people who despise him (there are differences when they start hating him, as in either from the start (TNG) or during VOY).

Why did shit like Bonanza last for twenty years if the people running the studios had no idea what was going on and they were just renewing and cancelling shows on a whim?

Because anytime Voyager is mentioned, you and a few others go on your broken record autistic rant about how you hate all the characters and that they used too many torpedoes and how we need to write a detailed essay to prove to you that we're allowed to like or talk about Voyager. You're literally worse than chartspammer, bf stalker and jimmy.

Look at that malformed little goblin. Puts a whole new twist on the term lovecraftian horror.

>What are Voyager's greatest strengths as a series?
unironically the hardest question asked in the history of /trek/. But I guess they were good at seeing Picardo's talent and giving him the screentime he deserved. Despite everything, Janeway was still the best female main character on the show (whether or not she was a good captain is another question). VOY has some really good alien designs every once and a while, better than TNG in that regard. Also, Year of Hell remains the best two-parter in the history of Trek (and I mean that as both parts being equally as good. TNG had some great two-parters, but often one part was stronger than the other, for example Chain of Command II being more GOAT than part I).

They're just doing their job. I'm sure the break did you a world of good.

Ok give it to me raw, /trek/. Vulcan style.

I just finished watching TNG for the first time ever and I loved it. All seven seasons. It was my introduction to Star Trek.

I've heard bad things about the TNG movies. Should I watch them? I'm on an extreme high note after finishing All Good Things. It felt like a perfect conclusion. The final showdown with Q. Just loved it. I'm afraid the movies might ruin that. Do they reach any roughly equal high points as well?

And by Vulcan style I meant Klingon style. I saw the vulcan gf poster near the OP and had a brain fart, sorry.

honestly, watch them later. If you're still riding on the high from the last episode, the movies won't leave you happy. Give it a while and then you can watch them.

thanks, I will

>Voyager is good because it's like TOS
okay but what are some of Voyager's defining characteristics independent of echoing other series?

>Voyager is good because it had a female captain
That's nothing new. Shelby was going to become first officer when Picard was a Borg and it triggered Riker because it made him realize he doesn't do anything. Trek has some of the strongest female characters ever written, however that does not inherently mean it is a good series.

Voyager is good because posters I don't like hate it the plot holes and glaring logical errors
This is a stupid post.

>Voyager is good because it is technically proficient
I appreciate the thought you put into your reply but I'm still not sold on it being enjoyable as a series unless you've watched everything else and you can't not watch Voyager. TOS has that wild frontier feeling where we're exploring the unknown. TNG asks us why we explore, what are we looking for? DS9 looks inward and considers the exploration of love and friendship as valid as conquering the stars and perhaps in some ways the inner journey is the most important trek we go on. What does Voyager ask of its viewers?

>shit like Bonanza
Westerns were a safe bet. Bonanza, Gunsmoke, the Rifleman, Wagon Train, the Lone Ranger, all were airing at the same time. Not to mention the production costs were loads cheaper than a high-concept (for the time) sci-fi show. A marginally popular Western show was much more palatable than Star Trek.

Fuck /trek/

Watch Generations right after "The Jem H'Dar".
