Why are there no hot women in Trek anymore? Even the Abrams movies got that right.

Also Discovery is the only show since Abramsverse. Picard has some hot chicks. I find Georgiou and Number One hot.

Janeway is one of the hotter chicks on Trek

For some reason I've been rewatching Obsession from the original series lately. I like that only Kirk thinks the vampire cloud is intelligent until halfway through the episode.

Picard in mid tier? Are you crazy? Stewart is about the best actor Trek has ever had.

I agree but she aged pretty badly compared to Jeri and Terry.

Attached: free-flowing-1.jpg (660x591, 21K)

People will probably shit on this but North Star might be my favorite all time episode. If only Enterprise had been more like that on a consistent basis it would have been god-tier.

She's a very talented VA though.

Attached: The Royale.webm (1440x1068, 741K)

Decent character but boring a lot of the time. His borg and flute life stuff should have had an impact on him but it only mattered when the script said it was important.

Why does Reddit hate Section 31? Every single post there, even ones totally unrelated to it, tend to boil down to
>CANCEL SECTION 31
>Section 31 goes against Roddenberry's vision - he's rolling in his grave!
>No one asked for Section 31
>I think (HOPE!!!) Section 31 is just code for PIKE

I love that episode.

One of the few gems of season 2. Goofy premise aside, you can tell the actors were having a blast.

What are you doing on reddit?

It's the only place to get consistent Star Trek news. /trek/ is too busy talking about trannies to actually report on Trek news unless it's something super big and normie-ish like a trailer.

>Star Trek news
A bunch of garbage is getting made, is there any Star Trek news worth reading after 2005?

Ribbit aside, the STD writers miss the point of Section 31 so badly that a full-blown series about them would be absolute cringe.

try again. Besides it's about how DSC S31 turns into DS9 S31
It's going to be kino af

My mom got me this episode on VHS when I was a kid because she thought it was the one where Data played poker with Stephen Hawking. Consequently I've seen The Royale more than any other episode of Star Trek.

Discovery is fun but ENT-tier.
Picard looks VOY-tier.
Lower Decks looks Rick and Morty-tier.
Section 31 looks TNG-tier.

This post is shit-tier

Yes. Cringe.

My mom had gotten the first half of season 1 on vhs via subscription but cancelled before she fot the complete set. As a result I enjoy season 1 TNG a lot more than most people because I watched those episodes over and over again as a kid.

The should had kept doing ship names. TOS, TAS and TNG ofc couldn't have but the rest should had stayed like that.

Star Trek: Defiant
Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek: Enterprise
Star Trek: Discovery
Star Trek: (whatever Picard's ship is called)
Star Trek: Cerritos
Star Trek: (whatever Ash Tyler's ship is called)
Star Trek: (whatever that kids show's ship is called)

Fun fact: Enterprise's title does not refer to the name of the ship, but actually the collective effort of man sending a ship into deep space.

Ok /stg/ pitch me your best season 4 TOS episode idea.

Attached: hqdefault(3).jpg (480x360, 12K)

Some weird energy creature with powers does stuff

A visiting delegation from an alien species turns four crew members (Kirk, Spock, Bones and Scotty) into "pieces" for a bizarre game. Chekov then has to play with their lives.

A specially-outfitted warp-capable shuttlecraft piloted by Sulu successfully reaches Warp 10, breaking the transwarp barrier. But the side effects of breaking the barrier may cost the crew of the Enterprise their best helmsman.

As a form of shore leave, members of the crew beam onto a traveling ‘vacation’ vessel that was found in the sector they were exploring. Before long, the engineer is troubled by signs that not only has this ship attained sentience but that it wishes to be free.

And has moral/religious implications?

When a simulation of the American Revolution in the Recreation Room malfunctions, it creates a sentient Benedict Arnold who attempts to collaborate with the Klingons

McCoy is troubled when the crew begins to act odd. He later learns that the rest of the crew had been replaced by android look-alikes. This was a part of a holodeck test program set up by Kirk that he fails.

Chekov finds himself abducted by an Orion slave-master who wishes to take him as his bride.

McCoy wakes up in 1950s Las Vegas apparently being the son of a local mob boss in this era. He is told that he has been very sick and eventually starts to question if he belongs here or in the 25th century. He begins to be stalked by a man that turns out to be Spock seeking to take him back to the ship, claiming that the ‘mob boss’ is an alien lifeform seeking to adopt him into his family to replace his own that was killed in an encounter with another Federation starship.

Kirk and co. beam down onto a planet, right?
Then Kirk immediately, without hesitation, shatters the Prime Directive into pieces, right?
And then they become entangled with a being they cannot hope to understand the powers of, right?
Then Kirk gives a speech and mental-gymnastics the villain into killing itself, right?
Then in the epilogue Bones and Spock take sly digs at each other while Kirk smirks, right?
And of course Scotty is just standing around doing literally nothing on the bridge this whole time, right?
Oh yeah and it's actually about racism

While searching for the remains of a 300-year-old Earth spacecraft, Kirk, Spock and Bones discover an alien recreation of a casino based off a bad dime-store crime novel, and they have to complete the narrative in order to escape.

Spack gets ipad

hired.

It's revealed to us that Spock has had a human stepsister named Michael Burnham, who helped shaped him into the man we know him to be. She helped to start and then bring an end to a war with the Klingons that claimed millions of lives and destroyed half of the Federation over 10 years earlier (before that she helped to save the multiverse by putting an end to the Mirror Unvierse's abuse of the mycelial network (related to an experimental drive where starships can cross vast distances in an instant)). She then also saved the future of the universe by stopping Section 31's rogue A.I. by acquiring the sentience (it somehow already had) it needed to destroy all life by the 33rd century. She did so by assisting in the construction of a time travel suit based off her biological mother's and making different time jumps to warn herself and her crew. The USS Discovery then traveled into the future via wormhole and any discussion of the ship, its crew, and especially Michael Burnham were classified by Starfleet itself by suggestion of Mr. Spock, under penalty of treason.

Eh, this one sounds kinda fan-fictiony.

If ensign mary sue was in a love triangle with kirk and mccoy it would be perfect.

Reading this really just cemented it in my head how fucking useless Discovery was. It changed nothing. It literally made itself may as well not even have happened.

Because feminist land whales and pitiful beta males were threatened by her, and movie studios pander to their whims for some reason. Now the movie franchise is six feet under again. Really makes you think.

That is due to the episodic nature of TNG. It doesn't have long character arcs like B5.

>Section 31 looks TNG-tier.
Because what I want from Star Trek is to see people getting garroted in an alley by black ops troops. No thanks.

In a film series trading on actors doing impersonations of other actors, why was Carol Marcus inexplicably British?

>Robert Beltran hated playing Chakotay as the show's Injun spirit guide stereotype and kept demanding more money, hoping the producers would kill off his character, but they just kept giving him more money. He would eventually ask for a romantic subplot with Jeri Ryan's character and they gave him that as well. Beltran would later quip that had he wanted the show retitled "Chakotay's Chipotles," they probably would've caved to that too.

Wait, we're her eyes always this asymmetrical? wtf

Attached: Ezri_Dax%2C_2375.jpg (360x450, 19K)

ENT was definitely the low point before STD though. Even the Abrams movies were better. That said, Silent Enemy was decent for having unknown aliens who refused to communicate while having malign but unclear intentions. Probably the only time I felt like Enterprise was actually about Starfleet in its infancy still figuring things out in an unfamiliar and hostile galaxy.

The Empress of my heart.

That one where Picard and crew realize too late they've been escorting a Romulan spy posing as a Vulcan and then Romulan warbirds decloak and force the Enterprise to fuck off back to Fed space.

Any episode where the Romulans win, basically.

Attached: FIRE.jpg (634x486, 30K)

Attached: Sacrifice of Angels.webm (640x480, 2.79M)

>HFY
That's literally Trek in a nutshell.

Pretty much this, there's nothing "good" to talk about there. There's nothing to look forward to if you aren't absolutely grasping at straws solely to get more new trek.

Please do not talk about the rape gangs.

Sounds about in-line with that episode about the genetically engineered superhuman who took over half the Earth before being sent off into space, only to be woken up and exiled by Kirk. Kirk, a captain who also saved everyone on Earth from V'Ger and later the whale probe, and who helped forge a lasting peace between Klingons and Humans.

I'm not saying that Michael's a good character of that her storyline isn't bullshit. I'm just saying that Star Trek occasionally falls into the trap of perpetuating this idea of Great Men of history, individuals who are hugely important in shaping the lives of millions and who we all owe tremendous debt to. I prefer Trek where people sit around a conference table and come to consensus on solving the problem of the week, not where everyone's ass is saved by one or two heroes.

Drinking kanar...
with Damar

There's many episodes like that, infact there's one in which the enterprise is capture and they consider going back to earth because they needed those weapons and a hell of alot more.

Imagine if star fleet had militarize?

It's /trek/.

What happened to Bash?

/trek/ is the tripfag general
/stg/ is for actual Star Trek discussion

I like Valleyforge more than Bashirfaggot, tbhwu

Why?

>tripfag general
Every general is a tripfag general.
Eventually.

Valleyforge is more on topic. She actually talks about star trek.

Tripfags scared off the creative, fun posters. Now I barely come here one a month. Kinda sad, really. /trek/ used to be the best thread on Yea Forums.

So did she have her Romulan forehead ridges removed? And why didn't post-TNG Romulans in the TOS films have forehead ridges?

progenitors. watch the fucking show

Waifufagging is technically on topic but that doesn't make it not obnoxious

The progenitors didn't seed the Romulans, they're just Vulcans who left Vulcan.

I hated at the time to agree with it, but it truly is better to not have generals at all. Just encourages faggotry. Better to just have random threads & let them fizzle out as they may rather than keeping one continuous thread, especially for a dead series. Same with SW.

no

Attached: tumblr_o0lk8yaTaE1v0pigno1_500.jpg (499x499, 52K)

Do you watch Discovery? It's actually not that bad.

ValleyForge's waifufaggotry is less obnoxious than Bashirfaggot stalking herself for attention

>what is satire
She was making fun of thirsty nerds and fake fans and today she posted VOY edits of meme copypastas while Bashirfaggot spammed Yugioh.

>ruining threads with spam is "satire"

VF can be cringe but at least her posts are worth reading and more on topic than BF which is all I care about.

Proof?

>worth reading
No. Posting quality aside, VF is irredeemable for creating the Discord and bringing the drama it created (including Bashirfag doxing) into these threads. I don't like BF either.

See, this is the problem with name AND tripfags.
NOBODY.
FUCKING.
CARES.

She's the thread's trickster and once you realize VF's posts are all ironic shitposts she's actually pretty funny.

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting

The shitposts generate discussion which keep threads alive. I hate both tripfags but you asked why one is better than the other and that's my answer.

Imagine being retarded enough to have this opinion, but just functional enough to post on a Cambodian basket weaving forum

>let's totally encourage this injected interpersona drama bullshit just because it keeps this otherwise dead thread alive
This is exactly the fucking kind of mentality that gets us zombie franchises that should've been allowed to die with some fucking dignity.

ah subversion in action. gonna change the culture are we? good luck

If it takes shitposting to keep threads alive, why even have threads? I still don't share your opinion about VF but at least now I have a better understanding of why people might like him over BF.

>tripfag ruined /trek/ with shitposts

BF needs to post her tits if she wants to be accepted by /trek/ again.

I just want the Name field to leave & never return.
Far, far more problems than any worth.

VF is fun and I'd have a beer with him. BF is nails on chalkboard and off topic with drama posts lately.

>glossy com badge instead of matte
I've been seeing these for decades. How hard is it for sellers to tell some gook manufacturer that you want a replica of the tv show pin and not some shiny enamel fake piece of chink garbage..?

/trek/ to stereotype once again, beautifully autistic.

I like both VF and BF but for different sexual reasons.

b- b- but... the internet says the first two seasons of TNG were always hated and weren't popular... they say it's why we shouldn't judge DISC.

The discord wars brought tention and a lot of good debates to /trek/. I think we grew from it, all things considered.

why the fuck did the fucking faggots at writing hq decide that gul dukat, a tremendously well fleshed out antihero, needed to become a fucking space fire demon to act as an antagonist to our main characters?
They threw literally everything away which they had built up, from his one man war against the klingons and alliance with the feds, to his entry into the Dominion as the feds did nothing but lodge diplomatic protests as the klingons lit the cardies the fuck up, to watching his offensive crumble and his daughter shot.

for fucks sake seeing him stand trial in federation court, as they hinted at the start of waltz, would have been infinitely better than the shit we got. he unironically could have shown he did nothing wrong to the federal faggots.

>STD isnt real Star Trek.
this is a fallacy, you should know better

except it isn't and you're clearly being facetious with such specious reasoning. STD is not actual Star Trek that exists along side actual, authentic Star Trek. It's juts a spin-off product / reboot attempt. But of course, you already know that. :)

Hey gang, how's it hanging? I've been making my way through the TOS films and I really enjoyed II, IV and VI, I quite liked I and III too. I want to get into one of the TV series, but where do I start?

TNG, VOY and DS9 aren't real Star Trek either

Except they obviously are. They exist alongside each other in the same continuity with mutual respect, building upon each other. STD and this other nuTrek clearly does not. It is an attempt to completely change/hijack the franchise into something it is not, by people who don't actually like real Star Trek and for some mythical audience that is supposed to like this new 'Star Trek for People who Don't Like Star Trek'.

The general consensus is that it isn't working.

by the way, if you want a snowball's chance in hell of winning this argument, you'ld be better off citing Enterprise. I'll still eat your lunch on that count, too, but it's a stronger example of a "canon" show that sort of tried to do an aesthetic reboot.

nuTrek is still shit from a tone/ethos/character/"spiritual" standpoint though. No way around that.

>Hilarious end to Denise Crosby's career.
She was in the walking dead before I stopped watching it. Sometime around season 3 or 4 when they were at the prison or so.

>any std character not automatically in shit tier

no, you can't just arbitrarily say that one series isn't canon when it obviously is, even if it is shitty it is still Star Trek

isn't std and the new movies supposed to exist In an alternate timeline where vulcan was destroyed?

all you have to do is watch it. It's not actual Star Trek. It's just a generic edgy space sci-fi show with random Star Trek references. It does not walk, talk, or act like Star Trek at all. You know this, of course, you're just being pedantic with muh Technical Official Legal Canon Status, which is shant be respecting. I piss on your "technically canon"

The psychology of prior investment has them by their atrophied testicles and they just can't give up defending STD, choosing to still believe that any criticism is by "racist trolls".

Nah it said permanent ban and if I make another account I'll get banned from all of reddit so I gave up on that shithole of a site.

>WAAAAA FEMALE POC LEAD
>WAAAAAAA
Maybe they got sick of that?

yes, this is exactly the kind of delusion i'm talking about

Why the fuck was my goddamn comment deleted, it was something that actually fucking happened in the FUCKING show you stupid nigger mods

Do you have friends?

Keep it on topic, dude. You'll be fine. Also: Don't discuss bans.

TNG -> DS9
ds9 is the best /trek/, although a few episodes towards the end of tng are absolutely critical to setting it up: the wounded (maxwell did absolutely nothing wrong lmao, the actor must have enjoyed ds9 season 6), the ensign ro episodes, and the THERE R4 LIGHTS REEE two-part.
also there's the episode where the based civnat cardies do nothing wrong while the feds go full andrew jackson on some space indians.

what are good 1984ish trek episodes?
Do NOT disappoint me.

How do you figure?

Yes.

Fistful of Datas.

the plot arcs in DS9 are more suitable to a modern streaming audience, and also make for a memorable show.
the supporting cast in ds9 is excellent and offers a great variety of recurring characters: dukat, garak, martok, weyoun, even quark btfo's the enterprise's resident oprah winfrey.
also this might trigger some of you but i personally am a fan of seeing retrofitted galaxy class battleships kill shit for once.

Jesus fucking christ that fan "art" is hideous

Can you do better?

>ships fly into each other on one plane
Jesus, they're in space, can't they figure out some 3D pincer movement with ships coming from above and below or from the sides?

You don't need continuity for Section 31.
In WW2 we had the OSS and the CIA and other 3 letters came later.

You realize that is nowhere near a realistic formation of starships, right? They are absurdly close to one another such that when one loses helm control, it's likely going to take out multiple other friendly ships with it. This was the problem with the later B&B era Star Trek. They had a hard-on for dumb "action" scenes like this.

LoGH can be exciting, but not really ST's style. They're trying to do some torpedoboat run or WW2 dogfight. Serenity had the big dumb spaceship battle, but they at least have the excuse of wrath of khan clouds and aggressive cannibals who love boarding actions. These cannibals lost the battle badly, but there was enough chaos for a short time.

this is now officially darmok and jalad at tanagra thread

reddit the episode
>LOL THEY PREDICTED MAYMAYS :D XD LMAO IM PICKLE RICK PICARD IS SO PHILOSOPHICAL WUBALUBADUBDUB GOD IS DEAD XD

Your observation is correct. This society does communicate with memes, which is confusing to an outsider.

tripfags trannies aren't welcome here.

The clip literally shows Klingons attacking from above.

this. Gosh, some anons are just smarter than others.

that's not from the show.

lol, ever heard of autopilot?

The only true Star Trek is TOS, Movies 2, 4, and 6, ST09 and Into Darkness, and Discovery.

You sound so hateful

What's a tripfag? I'm kinda new lol.

You have Bashir way too high. He's shit tier.

haha lol no worries bro. just go to your address bar, type in reddit.com, and fuck off and never return

>lol i dunno what 'loss of helm control' implies

"Relics" from TNG. You have everything good about Trek in it, character development, space exploration and sci-fi concepts

I agree.

i pee in your face

I have a right to be here.

autopilot on the ship the disabled ship might crash into, you hapless moomoo

/trek/ is a great place if you want to discuss star trek and don't have any friends. My favorite episode is clues (TNG).

> I still don't share your opinion about VF but at least now I have a better understanding of why people might like him over BF.
Bashirfaggot confirmed as the user using VF's trip in the last thread because she wants to be the centre of attention?

>This was the problem with the later B&B era Star Trek. They had a hard-on for dumb "action" scenes like this.

James Doohan was a terrible actor by that point and full Dyson Spheres are a practical impossibility given the amount of mass needed to surround an entire star. It's a Star Wars -tier fantasy mega-structure.

pretty much. I can't even masurbate to it but i like troi and tpol

I'm not sure what autismo decided to start this thread and make it seperate from trek. you're not keeping trannies or trips out. if anything starting this thread seems to be something trannies would do to undermine the trek community./thread

Technically, it's possible to make it.

>autopilot on the ship the disabled ship might crash into, you hapless moomoo
wtf are you babbling about? Autopilot on the other ships it that retarded tight formation isn't going to help when one of the ships gets its rudder utterly btfo and goes careening into the others like it just discovered Jihad. Are you high?

yup. JJ Abrams took the stupidity to 11, but it started immediately during the post TNG era.

no

A Dyson Sphere is a thought experiment. I said "practical" not "technical". In our solar system, for instance, there is literally not enough mass available to build one if you ground-up every planet and asteroid. Yes, it's technically possible but anybody who was interested in harnessing the output of a star - regardless of if they could build a sphere or not - would opt for something like a dyson swarm... a net or mesh of satellites.. not a solid shell around the fucking star... which is bonkers.

Great men do not seek power, power is thrust upon them.

Would we really need Dyson spheres when Nuclear fusion is within our grasp?

fusion is not in our grasp

Which trek is the least offensive?

in the pale moonlight of course. Why? Because they broke the rules and they did it in a way it felt awesome. Also, Sisko and Garak were at their absolute best.

2025-2035 for when they turn it on and test it, multiple projects for the same aim, so not all the eggs are in one basket.

TNG. Literal basedBoY tumblrina SJW garbage

we'll see.

I'm not in the mood.

...

is this your way of saying "i win"? You realize the whole point is that the show wasn't suggesting a "technical possibility". It was showing an actual fucking Dyson Sphere. The point is the episode is dumb because of that and your response is "yeah... well.... it's technically possible" to which I say yes, but so fucking what?

Marina was actually really good when she was possessed and playing a badass. It's a shame they didn't stick with the original casting. She was originally supposed to play Tasha Yar.

Attached: weapons.webm (976x720, 846K)

yeah but they didn't tho.

Attached: trek threads.webm (960x720, 2.91M)

Michael Dorn hated the Worf character and played it for a paycheck.

dude...

somebody really enjoyed doing the skeletons

Troi was very poorly written. It's not a good sign when your character is better as well, literally another character.

Why didnt they just use a wide dispersment beam?

well?

Attached: punker.jpg (480x360, 15K)

Agreed. The tragic part is that if they would have stuck with the original casting, Marina would have had a more suitable role, we would have been rid of Troi as a character when Denise Crosby quit in S1, and Riker would have had a more plausible excuse for the weight gain since losing his Isuzu. Worf would have been redundant for the series, but I'm sure they could have worked something out.

Unironically TNG or VOY.
Definitely not TOS though. Couple days ago my aunt told me that TOS was “misogynistic” because it had women in scantily clothes and Kirk slapped women occasionally.

Attached: C48E65E6-4B0B-4E39-ADF5-EB5BF51A5A11.gif (450x324, 1.85M)

>the women hit kirk all the time
>sometimes he hits back
thats literally equality in action, you aunt sounds like a retard feminist

Well, she’s a Canadian woman so yeah she’s a retarded feminist.
Never mind she completely forgot how many times Kirk was objectified when they took his shirt off and oiled him up.

TOS also prohibited women from command of starships

We tried to change /trek/ and bring it back to its glory days but that effort has failed.

Yeah, I fully recognize season 1 TNG has a ton of problems but I love it nonetheless.

BF is samefagging as her stalker because she's jealous of VF. As soon as she stops things will return to normal.

Jonathan Frakes went through some shit while playing that role. I think he's a pretty cool dude but I also don't care.

The Picard series is not going to give any of us fans a good sendoff. If it was a known trek fan with a history of arguing stupid things the way we do? I'd trust CBS.

That's not what they're doing. If they wanted to increase stock value and make the show uh....make money? They'd get a fan on-board who's got a film resume. As it stands they're going to fuck it up and hire somebody that doesn't even like trek. aka fuck good people there's a woman of color.

Suffice to say, I would literally have Guy Ritchie make the next trek series if I could.

>As soon as she stops
Not likely. You can only get so much actualization when in real life you're a clinically depressed barista who's "married" to a low-level university flunky. /trek/ gives her a modicum of self-worth, so xhe won't leave until xhe an hero's.

>yeah but my least girlfriend wa-
Oh right.

I don't get it.

My last girlfriend was a clinically depressed barista. It's sense that doesn't make any and holy fucking mistake. Why would you until you do and then why would you.

>If it was a known trek fan with a history of arguing stupid things the way we do?
Name one time where a bonafide "fan" taking over an existing property resulted in quality content.

We don't know because it's never actually happened. Don't you fucking dare cite Berman. That is not the same and you know it.

No offense mate, but that's word salad.

Better than a casserole. Salad pretends at having dignity.

>We don't know because it's never actually happened.
You sound desperate.

Such is the life of a Star Trek fan. You're pretending like we haven't gotten used to eating shit after over a decade.

I wrote this post last night dumbass

I like Bashirfag. She's clever and smart and keeps these generals exciting. I don't know if I'd post here if it was just the boring autistic boomers from /tg/. BF is the spirit of /trek/.

I'm very happy for you but I didn't have any time to make you a cake.

People like me rarely show up because we're busy doing things. /tg/ is not the type I promise. I'm utterly hammered ad at a family reunion so I don't care.

Well let's continue down your little business plan. What writer/producers would you like to see work on a Star Trek series?

Stop posting, you annoying fucking nigger no one cares about your fake family reunion. Faggots like you with no lives have been trashing BF for the last week and it's gay. BF is love.

That depends solely on what offends you.
