Underwhelming. Not bad, just underwhelming.
Better than Ghostbusters as a means to inspire young women to get into science and to get blacked.
It really wasn't that good but at least it didn't have any jumpscares
I don’t watch films with BMWF romance.
I agree with you. It's like a mediocre mix up of Stalker and The Thing. Some points in the film were unbelievable and stupid. I think Garland did some ridiculous directing choices, lot of unintentionally funny moments. Acting was a bit stuff. Some exposition especially in the boat scene that i didn't like. I expected a more cerebral film. The film has some interesting subtext going for it, but it doesn't work on a base level.
Actually Lovecraftian
they should have just made Roadside picnic
poorly cast!
I droped the movie when they enter in the ... military base? all was so stupid
How?
the ending was kino, overrall though it was kinda disappointing, ex machina was way better
Book was better.
I did like it
I didn’t really like it, either. Some neat visuals here and there, but it felt like a waste of a good concept and setting.
Everything before they went to the zone felt agonizingly long, and I honestly didn’t give a single fuck about any of the characters.
>Everything before they went to the zone felt agonizingly long
You can't be serious.
Book is awesome but unfilmable. Alien scene was kino tho.
Thought the sex scene in the middle was unnecessary could have just implied the sex as the cheating was obvious. It was obviously not her husband.
Other than that I enjoyed it. Didn’t mind it, music and visuals were impressive / cool and the acting was ok. Couple of very memorable scenes.
I turned it off when she started coal burning
Terrible, inappropriate music
Weak direction, poorly paced
Some good bits, but not many.
A 6/10 b-movie at best
Pretentious and horribly overrated, but if I had gone in with lower expectations I probably would have thought it was almost half-decent.
Good visuals and some great ideas. Body horror is an underutilized sub-genre. Some honest to god fantastic visuals happen near the end of the film. The acting by the entire cast is just okay. It gets the job done but poor line reads every so often can be distracting. Overall a decent film. I enjoy watching it and it left an impression on me.
Loved watching Natalie get BLACKED
how can so many posts in a row be so wrong ? baffling
The film is not very complex or intelligent.
What? How is it pretentious?
Why?
neither are you, but it's a great movie in the ocean of shit that's currently being made by hollywood, so it definitely deserves some appreciation in that regard. Name other equally good sci-fi in the past years
One of the few 10/10 movies. As a Portman fan I love it.
Mommy Nat looks delicious on the poster.
Probably the worst movie I've ever seen in my life
Stalker for brainlets.
I saw this in the theater and thought it was meh until the Lighthouse.
i thought it was pretty good. some absolutely brilliant scenes that are proper spooky.
It's just typical sci-fi "intellectual" movie that people can watch and feel smart even though nothing really happens on it. Just like arrival.
Neat visuals. The rest was a snoozefest.
I enjoyed it. It was kinda different than most current Hollywood slop, and had some good spooky moments. I like how it mixed horror and mutation porn with genuine beauty. Music was good. No obligatory “we’re going to succeed where the men failed because we have vaginas!” crap.
I enjoyed it.
I disagree. The Arrival was shit in almost every way. This movie at least had some genuinely creepy moments, wasn’t all gray, and didn’t have a fucking stupid explanation for how to master time travel. This movie didn’t really explain anything. Even if you think that is a cop out meant to make the film seem more intellectual than it was, it still better than “hey, if you have no sentence structure in your speech, you can see the future lol!”
