Who gives a shit about a 2 hour commercial for children?

based

Kurt was based, Mantis was cute. It was alright overall.

Honestly one of the only Marvel movies that children probably shouldn't watch

Yes.
But then again it was going to be really hard to follow up the first one.. Which was lightning in a bottle at the time.

Both Guardians of the Galaxy films stand out of the pack when watching everything else in the MCU. They feel different and look different.. It's why alot of people that generally don't like the MCU liked GotG 1 and 2.

Hopefully, the 3rd one continues this formula. They're already trying to muddy the waters by having Gamora dead and Thor apart of the group. Everything Gunn has built was practically destroyed narratively in Infinity War and Endgame.

So we'll see.

I actually wanted more reddit material out of it

>reddit material
what?

no, it was terrible

it just meandered until Kurt Russel nonsensically and nonchalantly tells the main character that he's trying to bring over to his side that he gave his mother cancer

It was better than the first one, didn't have to shoehorn in mcushit and could just focus on the characters, great visuals too

best MCU flick

It's my favorite of the MCU movies. Blows the first one out of the water

Shitty writing, first half was cringey with shitty jokes, second half was a boring action sequence

You know, wubudubdub, dance off bro, me and you? Ring any bells?

i see

GotG 1 was ok, especially the first half. I fucking hated GotG 2. I think just generally hate all the characters and the way the films are written.

this, in a lot of ways it's a step down from Guardians 1, but overral it's a better story

Why are they called The Guardians of the Galaxy?

My man.

This is the only Marvel movie to make me bawl. I lost my dad about five years before the movie came out and when Yondu died and they had his funeral I completely broke down. I hate to use this word but it was straight up cape-kino.

Unbased fag

what are other cape-kino besides the raimi trilogy witch is held in such a high regard

You shouldn’t have killed my mom and squished my Walkman

Yeah.

You could tell all the acters were having trouble acting on green screen, line delivery was flat and they do a lot of looking arround.. at obviousely nothing. Also Gamora and nrbula like explode and crinkle back together, they have healing factor but that was cartoonish even for this shit.

The end scene was pretty based. Stan Lee cameo too was okay.

I'll try to list some unbiased choices as well as some wholly biased opinions.

Unbiased (hopefully)

Batman Retuns.
>This is actually my sisters favorite Batman movie which I fucking love. Burton built up good will with the studio so they allowed him really take this movie and make it his own. It remains the only Bat movie starring Penguin as one of the villains (aside from the ballin West movie) and Michelle Pfeiffer killed it as Catwoman. The score, setting, and acting is firing on all cylinders and while it may not be for everyone, it is a testament of good filmaking.

Dick Tracy
>I know its not the most comic accurate as they were uncertain if this would ever take off so they unfortunately murdered his entire rogues gallery near the end of the movie. With that out of the way, it was more than I ever could have hoped for. The atmosphere was oozing style and all of the actors brought their A-Game. Dustin Hoffman as Mumbles was a treat and the practical effects for some of the mobsters was an inspired choice (Flattop especially).

Biased to holy hell.

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
>Dwayne McDuffie crafted one of the tightest Justice League stories I've had the pleasure of watching. Baldwin as Batman was genius and fit the story better than Conroy could have (partially due to James Woods being his opposite).
>The score is engaging, the plot truly shows these people being true pieces of shit. And the stakes go from somewhat serious to multiversal extinction and at no point was I ever not onboard.

Superman vs. The Elite
>Not everyone's cup of tea. Totally get it. They took a single issue story and made it a movie. Not a popular choice either, but it managed to raise important questions regarding Superman's involvement in world affairs without being completely hamfisted.

Batman: Under the Red Hood
>Dimaggio as Joker was something I never knew I wanted. Jensen Ackles breaks my heart. Christopher Drake does the soundtrack. What more could you want?

DiMaggio is an S-teir joket and in some aspect he rivals Mark Hamill. It's a shame he doesn't do more joker gigs

>films with piss and turd jokes
>children probably shouldn't watch
Then what the fuck is the target audience?

Taserface was pretty cringe.

The failed jokes really put a dent in the first half, but the payoff in the second half makes it worthy enough

Its all in service of his great death.

This.

yes

If you take into account what happens in Infinity War and Endgame, no. He goes from amazing bounty hunter Celestial to pew pew angry. Then there’s how Nebula magically disappears at the end to reach Thanos that we only learn in Infinity War. Drax also ends contributing basically nothing to Thanos despite wanting to kill him. Drax also could have taken the shot in Infinity War from Iron Man because he’s durable as fuck. Rocket also goes from trap setting amazing to just generic shooting raccoon.

Only if you gave a modicum of a fuck to Starlord's family.

Same, my dad died 10 years ago. When the song started, I just started to cry.

Too puerile and wacky. The first one is one of only a few good MCU flicks.

it hurted MCU a lot
now diversity is a final nail in MCU's coffin.

I really loved the first film a lot but was very disappointed in the sequel. It has a lot of elements that I love and is one of the few modern comic book films to have a singular vision behind it and have heart and soul. But the execution is very muddled, this film probably has the worst use of humour in any Marvel film. It deflates every single scene with a shitty quip at the end.

The only post-Paramount Pictures MCU film that feels like an actual blockbuster. The rest feel like glorified episodic tv specials.

no, both movies are shit. Pratt is a terrible starlord. And Ego isn't a fucking Celestial

Thor 3 is a better GOTG movie than GOTG 2

Horrible child-level writing.

Inconsistent characters
>Nebula I hate you I wanna kill you I love you Sista Powah! But I really hate Thanos wanna kill Thanos

StarLord: I love Gamora I wanna wife Gamora OH HEY GOLD CHICK WANT SUM FUCK?

Chafing nipple jokes and poop jokes.

Fucking garbage film.

Yeah, although it's not perfect. Big Marvel-style CGI fights cause my glaze over and this one's no exception. Plus the humour worked with the narrative in the first movie, here it sometimes feels really misplaced. The story's actually better but often a really serious moment is undercut by a lame joke or pop culture reference. The humour's a big appeal of the Guardians movies so I wouldn't get rid of it but it really needed to be reigned in with this movie. Weirdly the Guardians stuff in Infinity War mostly found the right balance between the serious and comedy aspects so maybe Guardians 3 will strike the right balance.

I liked that it was actually about something, abusive or terrible parent figures and how that impacts the characters lives, and that in the end you decide who your family is and they don't have to be blood-ties. But again sometimes the corny humour undercut it and made me cringe. Still it's nice to see an actual story underneath a big, dumb, corny Marvel movie.

First post BASED post

It was boring and a let down compared to the first movie.

Now that Infinity War and Endgame have fucked up the continuity and there's a Gamora that has no memories of the first two movies out there it seems like the whole thing was an even bigger waste of time than when I first watched them.

Infinity War was also more GotG than Avengers.

>GotG1 - 2014
>GotG2 - 2014
>Infinity War - 2018
What the fuck were they doing all those years in between not stopping Thanos?

it is the quippiest movie of all of the marvel movies. they just absolutely couldn't have any dead space in it so they have to fill it with quip after quip even stupid bullshit like blue girl eating a vegetable

>hey gold chick want some fuk

Well shes played by Debicki, so i understand Starlord in this situation

It has the tone of a Community episode in capeshit movie form, ie. double-reddit

Hehe, tree dances

This movie was amazingly boring.
Holy shit, why did it need to take you two hours to reveal that his dad is evil?
Unless you're like one years old, it was extremely obvious how the movie was going to play out.

>dude we're family lmao
Didn't we already go over this in the first movie?

Too much comedy at the wrong moments like the 1st GOTG.

>Ronan is about to destroy the Xandar with the power stone, but some dancing stops him
>Ego and those golden people are trying to kill the Guardians. They are completely casual about the whole thing and destroy everyone.

Captain Marvel was the same. The MCU has enough boomer comedy in it as it is.

Music choices were more based.

I honestly thought it was great and much better than the first. I thought the first was good, but it always seemed overhyped to me.
