I agree, it started out really strong but didn't resemble the same show by the end. It actually reminded me of season two of Stranger Things, especially because in both cases there's one episode near the end which is the only one female directed, and it's the worst episode of the entire season. I wished they leaned more into all superheroes being complete irredeemable assholes, instead of trying to make me forgive this one (which he shouldn't) or laugh at the Deep (when he's literal scum). They kept doing random vignettes in episodes where you would see one of them doing something, unrelated to the main plot, and I dunno if it was supposed to make them more relatable because most of the time it was just them being their usual asshole selves.

They basically tried to make you like all the superheroes by the end, including Homelander, which is the opposite of this show started out trying to do. It could've been an amazing commentary on real life superhero culture, but instead it became a part of it. Audiences LIKE characters with superpowers and that unfortunately veered the show in the same direction we've seen a hundred times before.
