What did I think of it? I dont have the words to describe how awful I suspect it is despite that on the surface it seemed that I enjoyed it. Anyone seen it and can clarify here
What did I think of it...
I don't remember anything memorable from the movie so no it wasn't that great.
>forgetting Foster having refugees blown up
it has its moments
Kruger was a cool villain
Very forgettable
It's clumsy message fiction that unintentionally argues against immigration. A group of people gave up their claim to earth to create their own society and it was beautiful, and it made the people who destroyed Earth jealous. They are the Mexicans to Elysium's United States.
>activate the Sweetie Man
Retrofitting an AK to fire airburst loaded munitions on a killbot was pretty dope. set and costume design was also well done and like another user said kruger was great as a bad guy who liked doing bad shit. everything else is hot trash
>Elite agent that can take down an entire space station with two other guys
>Walks around collecting garbage and grilling on a roof all day
I think the movie is great though, all three of Blomkamp's movies are pretty shallow with plots that are barely better than passable, but the designs and his idea of realistic futurism is unmatched
The "message" of the film is completely retarded, ie. free medical care for illegal immigrants is good. The film's saving grace is the sequel that exists only in my head where the hordes of refuges overcrowd Elysium, gangs take over the medical beds, gang leaders enslave the masses to fight endless wars against one another. When a soldier dies, their corpse is re-atomized and they're shoved back into battle. In the end the station is destroyed because of a lack of maintenance.
If I could do anything I would grill, drink beer, and throw bottles at Mexican children all day. He's living the life..
boomer kruger edit when?
This is now a: "Movies that only liberals can enjoy thread"
Cut everything to do with the coup and the nurse's daughter and it would be good. The movie should have focused more on the manhunt itself and never revealed the specific reason Kruger was sent after Max.
Bro, it wasn't unintentional
Well, the reason is of course the information that he brainjacked from his boss, but we shouldn't be told what it actually is. Like the Pulp Fiction briefcase.
I need to get to Elysium shiiiieeeettt
the worst of the trilogy
District 9 > Chappie > Snoresium
The guy that took over Elysium seemed way too smart to allow something like that.
>Space station with very limited capacity
>LOL EVERYONE FROM EARTH CAN COME HERE NOW SURELY THIS WILL WORK JUST FINE
But that isn't what happened? They sent the magical medical units to Earth.
This is about it. Maybe some neato future stuff too.
It's been a while since I watched it but didn't they hack into the mainframe and whatever and set everyone's status to be citizens
How'd he get a t-shirt on under all that stuff that's connected to his bones?
Yeah. They did it because only citizens can use the magical medical units tho.
"Chappie" you mean The Adventures of Wiggerbot?
Spics were too stupid to take off the shirt when wielding it to his bones.
Blomkamp keeps making the same film, and it gets worse each time. The only consistently solid thing is that he hires some decent design and VFX people.
