the only people who think Shin Godzilla is the "best Godzilla movie" are casual film buffs who don't understand Godzilla's history, and annofags. It's a great movie, and deserves praise, but people act like it fucking reinvented the franchise.

There's no anti-American propaganda in it though. Why do brainlets always bring this up? The U.S. helps Japan twice in that movie. The first way is by sending Kayoko Ann Patterson to share their intelligence with the Japanese government, and the second way is by sending the B-2 stealth bombers to attack Godzilla. The most anti-American Godzilla movie is probably Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, but even then, it's just in the WWII flashback sequence and the fact that the two main villains are Westerners. Mothra from 1961 is probably more anti-American than any Godzilla movie.

2014 is almost unwatchable to me. 1954 and Shin Godzilla might be difficult to watch, but at least they're good movies. I'm just glad KOTM more than made up for 2014.

It was ok. It was a necessary success, definitely not the best but if it's popular then there's still hope for the franchise. It's definitely not the most overrated movie. KotM was more typical for the franchise so it makes sense that it was this movie that truly rejuvenated it and made the fanbase more active than ever. Shin fanboys are usually the most annoying but it really may be because many of them are not interested in the franchise and just watched it because of the director. Could be worse imagine how much shittier would they be if they chose the anime trilogy as their 2 deep 4 u masterpiece.

They're not as horrible in other places so they might just be newcomers to the series who don't really care that much about it but are annoyed that KotM gets talked about more. A few more recognizable Godzilla fans seem to love it. At least one of the most famous Godzilla historians hates it (while defending All Monsters Attack which is also a new shitty meme in the fandom that needs to die).
