Look at "I'm Not Norm". There's hundreds of talk show/tv joke compilations, some with a million views, that's all free publicity. Also there's no gaurentee that Norm will reupload old Norm Live episodes to his YouTube.

It's a dumb move to pull down archive channels because archive channels lead viewers to your videos. Here's an example:
>viewer looks up "stand up comics" and finds a norm compilation by an archive channel
>they watch it and enjoy it
>next recommended video is from the official norm channel
>they watch that one too and have a good time
>they sub to you
Now imagine that archive video leading to your stuff wasn't there. They'd watch some other comedian and sub to that comedian.
I'd also add that it fosters ill will in the viewers to pull down an archive channel they're subbed to and watch (viewers that are likely also subbed to you and watch your stuff). When the archive is pulled by you, it tells them as much when they try to watch an archived video. Some will be turned off by that, and unsub to you.
Then there's the fact that archiving takes a ton of work. Unless Norm is going to hire people to do it for him, it's not going to happen, those videos will be lost. Even if he hires people, it'll take at least a year to recover all those old classic Norm videos. Meanwhile, the fans suffer.
There is, however, a case for going after archives: with the H3 Podcast, clip channels were putting the clips from Twitch (iirc) up first, then copyright claiming the official H3 Podcast (and successfully in some cases). But otherwise, you're a fool to go after archives and other fan channels. They're your fans. In fact, they're your biggest fans because they devoted so much time to your material. Fucking over your fans is never a good idea. That comment from Michael T was spot on: talk to the archivists and work something out with them. At least give them a month or so to backup their channel so they and their fans can save the videos for personal use. But better yet, don't slam on them at all. Let them live and promote you while you upload new material.

Good for him. I understand if you want to pay tribute to Norm by making clips with his bits but if you only upload his material in hopes of making money yourself then you need to stop. Norm is one of the few people I feel comfortable giving my money to because he has given me so much in terms of entertainment. Loved his book and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who loves Norm or great comedy.

I'd actually recommend the audiobook over the actual book. It's more like a radio-play than your typical audiobook.

I have to check it out. It does play uniquely even in the book, probably what made me read it in one go.
