>best filesize/quality ratio >everything is natively broadcast at 720p anyway >looks amazing, 99% of people can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p >retards on Yea Forums will sperg out if you download 720p but they are wasting their time downloading 1080p because there's little benefit, if any >still exists and will continue to exist for a looooong time because 4K is too fucking big and nothing is broadcast in 4K, much less 1080p >even if you give 720p a high bitrate, it won't take up too much space on your hard drive, phone or tablet >Looks FUCKING GREAT ON A PHONE WHEN YOU WATCHING YOUR KINOS IN BED AND LOOKS FINE NO MATTER YOUR SCREEN SIZE. >Streams perfectly over your home network so when you need to stream video from your PC to your phone, tv, or tablet via DLNA (kys if you don't know how to do this), it always works perfectly with no loss in quality. >Quality autists who get mad at you for not downloading 1080p are fucking stupid and when you ask them why they didn't download the 4K version, they stutter and get mad that they don't actually have the ability to store and play 4K because they spend more time being autistic about video instead of getting a job
1080P AND 4K TARDS KNOW DEEP DOWN THAT 720P IS THE BEST RESOLUTION AND THEY CAN'T ARGUE AGAINST 720P BEING THE BEST KINO RESOLUTION EXCEPT IN TERMS OF THEIR AUTISM.
AND THAT IS WHY 720P IS THE BEST RESOLUTION AND THE OFFICIAL RESOLUTION OF Yea Forums.
ANYTHING MORE THAN 720P IS UNNECESSARY AND YOU KNOW IT.
>>Looks FUCKING GREAT ON A PHONE WHEN YOU WATCHING YOUR KINOS IN BED AND LOOKS FINE NO MATTER YOUR SCREEN SIZE. it was at this moment i realised i was reading bait

Bentley Phillips
Unironically agree, I only download 1080p when the only available 720p is some 700mb yify torrent.
Parker Diaz
>700mb yify torrent. use the rarbg shrunken torrents instead. they have more bitrate than that.
Aiden Gonzalez
I do, but not everything is on rarbg or have enough seeders
Nathan Thomas
I was trying to figure out if this was bait or an old Yea Forums pasta but >everything is natively broadcast at 720p anyway Yeah, maybe in 2014. This is bait.
Isaac Thompson
>This is bait. wrong. almost everything is broadcast in 720p
Samuel Stewart
this post is a true cringe kino

>your eyes have a zoom function and can see and analyze 24fps you cant discern that watching it from the couch
Aaron Howard
link me and I will
Christopher Rodriguez
depends on the market. of the 7 broadcast channels around me only 2 use 1080i, rest are 720p. all the subchannels are 480i except for 1 too.
Elijah Rodriguez
who watched films on their couch on a shit tv lol
i can tell by looking at the pictures un-zoomed in, maybe get some taste you pleb, 720p is garbage, high file size 1080 is good, ultra filesize 4k is great
Jack Reed
yikes. imagine creating the most media on the planet and serving it the shittiest way, or on the shittiest and most expensive internet speeds
Benjamin Diaz
Ofcourse you have to "zoom" because a 3840x1600 picture is triple the size of your garbage 13 inch laptop, but you literally see this when watching on a properly sized 4K TV. The difference in motion is even more apparent.
And that's just the factual difference of resolution, the other major difference is HDR which makes the picture borderline pop out of the screen as if it's actually happening infront of you, while you watch your flat downsized garbage.
i don't care if you're a dumbass or not. i care that you try to tell people there is no gigantic difference
Connor Rodriguez
from a proper distance you cant see the difference between 720p and 4k on a mid-sized tv (you know, what most people have), end of fucking story. you can scream and post zoomed in pictures, but thats not the point we are making. if you want to sit 50 cm away from your 70" tv sure, its cool to get the best resolution
Jason Wood
Ever since Netflix blocked being able to force 1080p on TV shows / movies I can very much tell the fucking difference.
Do you also listen to 96kbps through one earbud music because the audio part of music is not important?
Isaac Torres
>a complete pleb 720p rips are just fine if you just want to see a movie. Have fun counting nosehairs in 4k, i dont care about it
Kayden Carter
imagine actually thinking this
this on the same level as >your eye cant see past 24fps
Jose Williams
>I don't need to see an actor's pores to see his emotions. this.
Tyler Taylor
>from a proper distance you cant see the difference between 720p and 4k on a mid-sized Yes you can, literally. HDR alone makes such a difference that the 720p screen would look like colorless flat trash
Owen Robinson
>Have fun counting nosehairs in 4k kek. 4K autists btfo.
Isaac Turner
yes you can. there is just 6 times more detail in the picture. if you'd put up two tvs with 2 different qualities on them, everyone will know the difference.
Brody Stewart
Choosing to only torrent 720p rips instead of the best possible one is like being able to get anything you want from a store for free, but you choose the Walmart value item instead.
Jordan Williams
yes i always force it mono. how did you know?
Blake Richardson
Nah hvec av1 opus x265 1080p/4k is based 720p is usually ancient shit from 10+ years ago terrible blocking artifacts and old codecs

It's definitely the best for porn. I don't want too much detail but I don't want potato quality either.
Isaiah Clark
dont watch porn you absolute cumbrain, jerk off all you want but use your head or at worst, semi nude erotica. actual porn breaks your brain
Henry Adams
hdr looks unnatural half the time
Dylan Rodriguez

>99% of people can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p this is wrong and you need glasses lmao
Julian Evans
720p is pretty masturbatory. "oh look at me im a movie nerd omg" etc. All you really need s 144p
Benjamin Watson
the worst opinions in the thread. after watching some nonbitstarved uhd porn i just can't go back. it's so good
Aiden Gutierrez
>jerk off all you want this is also bad. don't do this.
>>everything is natively broadcast at 720p anyway >wrong. almost everything is broadcast in 720p if youre talking about television about half is broadcast in 1080i
Alexander Scott
Can anyone tell my why some 1080p avi's leave a grey block or pixelated screen or just jams up? Ive done everything right according to the poojeets on yt and vlc still refuses to play 1080 stuff.
with anime 720p works fine, but I prefer 1080p with movies, especially if I'm going to put it on my big screen tv. The artifacting becomes really apparent in dark scenes.
can we at least agree that 4k is completely and utterly pointless?
Charles Hughes
compression artifacts most likely
Carson White
4k isn't pointless but the 4k streaming and piracy encodes give is. If you get your hands on a good quality 4k bluray release then that's going to look excellent on your setup. The garbage on Netflix and porn sites that is technically 4k but at a hilariously low bitrate is a fucking waste. It's basically just inflated 1080p.
Jonathan Gonzalez
I'll use this thread for tech support. Is there a way to make vlc display webm and mkv thumbnails? I really don't want to install some random programs.
Ian Wood
Dark scenes artifacts are a bitrate problem, not a resolution problem First thing that gets axed in shitty rips is the luma channel, this creates huge blocky artifacts when there are subtle shades of a color
Jayden Gray
vlc doesn't handle your windows explorer thumbnails. either install a program that does it for you, or use windows 10.
Jack James
I am using windows 10. Apparently windows 10 supports thumbnails for webm but it doesn't work in my case.
Joseph Richardson
don't know what to tell you, works for me. I use mpv as my media player but it doesn't handle thumbnails.
Jason Rodriguez
>poorfag justifying the only resolution he can afford
Anthony Jones
you know you can look at more than human faces dipshit
Ian Morales
>everything is natively broadcast at 720p anyway Even if this was true, how is it an argument? All you’re saying is TV broadcasts don’t look as good as other digital sources can look.
Christopher Lewis
Upscaled from 2k. Big yikes
Isaac Martin
>implying you watch 4K all the time
Justin Morales
This unironically in some cases.
For example, for me Game of Thrones lookws better in 720p as how it was shot and processed in digital made it look far too sharp, clean and sterile in 1080p.
720p kind of murkified the footage a bit, softened the hard lines and gave the impression it could have been shot in film, or at least treated in a somewhat more sensible manner in post production.
Zachary Adams
>not getting the actual discs Also, 8K is the best resolution because it's a perfect integer scale for 144p, 160p, 240p, 272p, 480p, 720p, 2K (1080p) and 4K (2160p). No nearest-neighbour filtering for PS2 and Wii games, and fullscreen GB(C) and GBA games without shimmering or interpolation.
Luis Hall
Who gives a fuck what some tripfag thinks?
Thomas Sullivan
downloading 4k and 720p have the same price
Isaiah Price
8K is the best resolution for retro gaming, modern games and Yea Forums content. And 8K is practically free for emulation if you have a very fast CPU. I'm gonna boot up Cemu and emulate Breath of the Wild in 8K when I finally get an 8K TV.
Cameron Stewart
Except for 2001 new restoration, I agree.
Bentley Evans
I agree 100%
Levi Reed
You're right not all the time but I play games with my ps4 on 4k, Netflix in 4k, I buy blurays in 4k, download bluray rips as soon as they come out, some remuxes around 60gb and some compressed but even the compressed ones look great on my tv.
Kevin Foster
Right but since you have a 4k tv and decent connection why would you download the 720p version?
Julian Baker
well depends on the movie a bit but true i'd usually get the best possible version.
Landon Sanders
>since you have a 4k tv and decent connection why would you download the 720p version? I have a 65 inch 4K TV. Most of the time, I download 720p rips because they look fine upscaled on my TV because I got a well-reviewed TV. However, if there's something I'm really excited about, I will get 1080p or 4K depending on what the best quality option is. Some content just doesn't have 4K versions.
Caleb Russell
1080p/2K is all you need, I personally can’t stand 720p on a big screen but I’ll agree with you about phones but I always watch kino at the theater (2 or 4K depending on movie) or on my OLED.
Aaron Brown
It's mostly a meme. I can only tell the difference because I use a 120" screen.
Nicholas Watson

Jose Price
>720p looks great on phone What kind of shit phone are you using? My phone's screen resolution is higher than 1080p so 720p looks fucking awful.
Kind of but there’s more to it then “film has crazy resolution” they’ve figured out that the 35mm negative (pure version of what’s shot) has about 3.5K worth of detail. But when you start getting into editing like they did back in the day you make a copy print and work from that. When you finish you go back to the negative and effects like dissolves were optical so you had to copy. That leads to a drop in resolution. The theater print is almost always made from an interpositive, mix that with all the other copied effects and you’re more or less seeing 2K or less when the film is being projected off s 35mm print. 70mm has more resolution but same rules apply, you’re not going to get 6-8K by the time it’s projected
>using a low bitrate file Wait, do people on Yea Forums actually think that 720p always means YIFY-tier trash?
Carson Bailey

Daniel Ross
Nope. You're just dumb as fuck and don't understand bitrate.

What is better to watch, the standard or imax encodes of the Marvel films?
Mason Reyes
I believe audio is more important and standalone 1080p rips always come along with better audio compression (at least 90% of the time) and there are more seeds for 1080p torrents especially for non mainstream movies. Hence 1080p is better. However if given the choice of the same audio compression but 720p I would go for it.
John Jackson
Use 720p for your films and 1080p for your kinos. 4kay is gay.
Ryder Howard
yeah i can download a 1 gb 2k movie and a 8 gb 720p movie and show you the exact opposite as "proof"
Levi Jones
720p is shit Like your trolling attempt
