There's a greater overlap between Nazis and weird hippies with shamanistic beliefs than you'd think. You have to look at these hippies seperately from the ones who came out of the anti war movement during the Vietnam war who were, more or less, lefties.

If you're talking about Manson having a swastika carved in his forehead, it was originally an "x" which meant that he was x-ed out of society (or oppressed as we would say today). It didn't become a swastika until the late 70s, probably because of gang affiliations.
