Y'know, in retrospect this was actually pretty fun. Neither of these films are masterpieces, but they both are rock solid and deliver on exactly what they set out to do. It makes me miss the movies.

If it's even possible, I think this might be underrated for a Tarantula project.

I liked Planet Terror and the fake trailers, but aside from the chase scene at the end, I couldn't stand Death Proof. It felt like Tarantino stretching the limits of what he could get away with when it comes to nothing happening, and people just sort of sitting around doing nothing.

Which is better Grindhouse or the two extended movies?

I love Death Proof because I enjoy movies...it's an incredible movie.

Imagine if all the girls in death proof rubbed their feet on my Johnson slow and lovingly. Wouldn’t that be crazy haha.

I've only watched the extended Death Proof, but I honestly feel the shorter run time kinda serves the movie better. The lap dance scene does have a purpose, but it's really already communicated through the dialogue before the actual lap dance itself.

I enjoy QT's stuff and don't really know what I would cut specifically, but think he pretty consistently has about 20 extra minutes in his films.

I would be interested to hear what someone who's seen the extended Planet Terror thinks too.

Also the fake trailers and bumper cards are some of the best stuff.

bump

Grindhouse, death proof ends up being too long and you end up missing out on the Thanksgiving trailer.

I saw this four times in theater when it was out. One of those times was a triple bill with Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters and 300, me and a few guys skipped class to fit it all in. Greatest movie going afternoon.

Death Proof is incredibly good
just rewatched last week
People take it for muh STONK WYMYN, but it's more subtle than that
the message is more like "if you don't give them sex, you'll drive men to rape you ladies"

that was once upon a time for me

DP actually is a horror movie, only it's about the horror of knowing women hate you, lol

this is my favorite Tarantino movie. Grindhouse, not Death Proof.

>tfw you find out Tarantino hates death proof

I remember watching this in theatres with my dad. I was around 17, and he was like wtf is this shit.

ther's a lot going on
one of my favorite bits is Tarantino sitting at the end of the bar with 4/10 skanks who don't know anything about his old movies or tv shows
there is a lot of love and hostility towards women in that movie

HANG UP THE CHICK HABIT

I'm glad somebody else got this
it's very much about him knowing he's a troll-man, it's a very personal movie

and everybody who said OUATIH was about him realizing he was getting old didn't notice he'd already made a movie about that ten years earlier

I like how Kurt Russel turns out to be a total pussy at the end of the movie. He was basically crying at one point.

>Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film
they didn't promote that movie very well, because I didnt know it existed until now.

Tarantino had ONE great trend-setting movie. The rest of his catalog is hot garbage with a couple inventive and unintentionally funny scenes scattered about in the dreck. He loves trash cinema, and that's all he's capable of producing.

> kinda cute, kinda hot, kinda sexy, hysterically funny, but not funny looking guy who you could fuck
that "funny, but not funny looking" cuts deep

they showed it on adult swim on april fools

That would have been awesome.

death proof is fantastic

Imagine being over the age of 13 and thinking this trash is worth watching

Tarantino is a genuine retard for thinking Death Proof sucks

I think the extended Planet Terror is better than extended Death Proof. It's small stuff that just works with the movie and doesn't drag it out.

Grindhouse due to the fake trailers.

Who here would see Thanksgiving if it got made into a full movie. I know I would even though it'd be eli roth shit

I'd see it if it was a double feature with Thanksgiving & Black Friday.

Does it fill in the part where the film "breaks" in the regular cut?

>mfw Death Proof is about Project Monarch

no, bc the gag was that a whole bunch of real nuts and significant shit went down during that break, it was clearly written with the break in mind, like that bee gag from Popstar

this is exactly my opinion

The presentation with all of the fake trailers and shit made it great. I loved it when I first saw it.

I figured, but was curious.

this. fuck, come on people

then you are exactly a brainlet

I respect your opinion, but it's wrong and you're an absolute retard.

Are we to assume Rose got HARVEsted on the casting couch for this role, or was it earlier in her career?

I couldn't even get to the chase scene it was boring. I fell asleep and woke up to catch planet terror which was so much better.

in the theater Planet Terror was shown first
so why are you lying?
probably one of those chinks angry over Bruce Lee getting BTFO
you people are so petty

>you people are so petty

And yet you feel compelled to reply to every post itt from people who say they don't like it.

Death Proof had very little nudity, it felt inexplicably sluggish, and was nothing like a real grindhouse movie. It was more like QT doing a CW show.

Haha. I saw it with my little brother, 70% of the audience walked out before Death Proof started. And it wasn't because they didn't understand it was two movies, except for the negroes. QT was our favorite director and I felt literally angry like it was a betrayal, I hated both movies that much.

when I saw it in the theater the audience size literally doubled when Death Proof came on. People came in from other theaters to watch it.
I could see how you wouldn't enjoy it though, as your taste seems to be similar to that of negroes

The fake commercials produced better films

Are there any outside Hobo With a Shotgun or Machete? Now that I think of it, I never watched Machete Kills, because one of the podcasts I listened to at the time said it wasn't any good, and I found the "Illegal Immigration=Good" message of the first Machete to be a little grating.

Machete Kills is closer to a Grindhouse flick than the first one
