In the movie, the guy is a pretty faithful good father that just takes what life throws at him in stride. His wife cucks him, his son is buying drugs, his brother is a loser living with him, etc. He gets pushed to his breaking point and he accepts the money from the asian student which is his only bad deed in the movie and god instantly gives him the call from his doctor about him having a bad test result and a tornado kills his kid.
