Who is the most influential TV and RADIO host persona in modern time and why is it Howard Stern?
Howard Stern
Howards show turned to shit after Artie left and Howard became a total Hollywood cuck. As far as influential Radio hosts, who gives a shit, a dying medium, only people that have satellite radio are people who drive for a living and people who get a free trial with a new car. Howard unfortunately remained in the spotlight long enough to become the type of asshole he made fun of all along
>Howards show turned to shit after Artie left
Who gives a fuck about that heroin junkie?
Artie was irrelevant then and he is irrelevant now.
Seriously, Stern is from the fucking 90's
>Bait
I'm not user, but however anyone feels about Artie, the show literally died after he left. Period. Google "Best of Stern" and see how many non-Jackie/Artie YouTube vids pop up... literally zilch, nada, nothing.
Shit when he found out youtubers and podcasters make more than he does he nearly started speaking in yiddish.
And now we’re getting a call from Millie Bobby Brown’s agent
Has anyone ever asked Stern, on air, about his chronic Brian May syndrome?
Ironic he spent alot of radio complaining about the fcc and how it holds him back. Then finally gets on satellite radio and his show starts to go to shit.
Loved stuff from the 90's and even early 00's. I wonder what people think now if some one made something like this on public airwaves...
youtube.com
Jackie and Artie (and to a lesser extent Stuttering John) don’t get enough credit for how famous that show became. Once they were all gone it was amazing how unfunny it immediately became, and how repugnant Stern’s whole shtick is without the humor.
>>listening after artie
>Loved stuff from the 90's and even early 00's. I wonder what people think now
I went back recently and listened to all the shows Trump was on from that era and one thing that stood out was how openly racist the humor was. They tried to act like they were mocking racists when criticized for it but that was clearly not what they were doing, especially when Howard and Artie did their ‘why hello der’ black impressions. There was nothing subtle about it, it was basically a /pol/ humor thread in audio form at times.
finebaum'a better and didn't completely sell out like stern did
Holy shit this so much. I would kill to hear ANYONE speak in a podcast as openly as they do on 90s stern. I used to cringe when my friend would tell me how insane stern was cause he listened back in the day, I'm too young to know about it firsthand. I figured how crazy could it actually be? Boy was I wrong, I'm hooked on these old clips and even went so far as downloading the entire stern back catalogue. This should be required listening in high school or something, balls to the wall stuff
RAMOOOOOOOOONE TELL OP TO STOP POSTING PHOTOGRAPHS OF ELDERLY LESBIANS ON MY TELEVISION BOARD
stern was based but like anyone he got old and lame. oh well i dont hold it against him, he provided thousands of hours of real entertainment.
Annoying jew that just pushed gross, offensive garbage in the pursuit of making money. Average ameritard flocked to it like flies on shit.
>Howards show turned to shit after Artie left and Howard became a total Hollywood cuck.
He went Hollywood LONG before Artie showed up. He went all in when he was making Private Parts - the whole showed changed then to him trying as hard as he could to be accepted by the Hollywood crowd at Nobu.
I started listening to Stern in the Kinison era. If you only listened to the Sirius show, you have no fucking clue who or what Howard was, before Private Parts, and how truly good the show was. Most of the time - there were boring days, as many as the good shows that people post on YouTube.
Same type of Viva la bam fags enjoy stern
Old Eric the Midget compilations have become what I listen to at the gym.
When Jackie left, I knew the show would die. Jackie kept Robin in line, and no Jackie - Robin became INSUFFERABLE. Then, when he hired that unfunny fat creep Benjy as head writer, and the show became "let's play out Howard wanting to fuck his sister and mother by having family members do sexual things while Howard pulls his pud under the desk" I stopped listening. Even Bababooey sounded skeeved out by it.
First for Gilbert
For me? It's Opie the destroyer
>Gilbert
goo fo you
youtube.com
His show would be 100 times better without that annoying black woman.
does any one actually like Son of the Beach?
Everyone was getting away with a lot of crazy shit in the 90s before the FCC crackdown. Talk radio is a great example but also stuff like the Attitude era of the WWF. Tons of homophobia and racism by today’s standards.
Billy West was a national treasure on Stern's show.
But the best shows were when nothing was going on, and you'd hear Jackie hooting in the background, and you knew he was about to start shit, usually at Robin or Bababooey.
I just wish I had been listening back in the really old days, like when the shit went down with Pig Vomit.
My only memory of that show was that I was at the beach on a day that they were filming it. Never saw the show itself though. I was actually listening to an old Stern clip where Howard said he was visiting the set one day, and there was a scene involving the main guy making out with a chick, and they couldn’t find any ladies on the set willing to do it. It made me actually kind of feel sorry for the guy.
>most influential
No one gives a shit about Howard stern
>Who is the most influential TV and RADIO host persona in modern time
Rush Limbaugh for radio
Zoomers don’t but OP is correct. Stern is easily one of the most influential people from the last 30 years of pop culture. It can’t be overstated just how much he changed radio and the entertainment industry in general.
>HAHAHAH RETARDS
>HAHAHA ASSHOLE
>HAHAHA HAHA ROBIN HAS A VAGINA
>HAHA PHONY PHONE CALLS
>HAHAH COMIC CON IS FULL OF VIRGINS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It’s a you had to be there kind of thing desu. In the pre-internet 90s, this was mind blowing radio. You have to look at things in context, user.
>Robin trying to do the news
>Gilbert interrupting her constantly to the point that she actually gets upset
>Gilbert's Seinfeld impression
Absolute kino.
>zoomers hate howard but love podcasters who were clearly influenced by him
Heh
HELP ME, HOWARD.
Comic con? Oh, you're someone who only knows the Sirius version of Howard, and never heard the actual good version.
(Hint: Howard was good when nobody knew what ComicCon was)
He fell off like a motherfucker. I was a big Stern fan. Began listening during the early 2003's but once Artie fucked up and fucked off the show took a massive dive. He's washed as fuck now. That video he made yelling at his staff pretty much proves this point.
>Whining to his staff about getting Lana Wachowski as a guest like that's somehow a big deal.
>This was a decade after the Matrix sequels, and the Wachowskis had been cranking out flop after flop
But user don't you think truckers from Arkansas would be thrilled to hear that riveting interview?!
Spell "red"
Howard Stern sucks. Think back to some of your favorite Stern movements....any of them Howard Stern? probably not.
I will remind them
caw caw robin i invented the junkie comic
Billy is a treasure. I love every aspect of the show, even the side guys like Gary and stuttering John talking about ratting on each other and the office bullshit is somehow entertaining. Wish I could have been a part of it as it's happening. And the lore of the show all the wackos like Marianne from Brooklyn or Sal and he got on the show in the end. Really of its time and a textbook definition of lightning in a bottle
Where did the "Howard=pelican" thing come from? Did that originate from the bro fight between Howard and Artie?
Gilbert is the best!
Yes. Artie said it.
>"HEY BINDI I'M GONNA FUCK YOUR NIGGER TITS!"
Stern's 9/11 episode should be required listening for everybody. It's insane how they kept the show on the air that day.
Also the fights between ICP and Sharon Osbourne were great.
Why was he so influential? How can I become an influential radio personality?
>radio
Time travel back to the late 80s for starters.
radio is dead and that's a good thing
Howard Stern using a cheap-ass TLM-103! You'd think he would spring for a U87 or better.
What. A. Jew.
the show turned to shit when they moved to sirius
Radio is dying along with newspapers, might as well just try to be a podcast host but the golden age for getting into that has long since passed unless you wanna get into true crime.
He was influential because he'd be able to talk about anything on the radio, literally anything and get celebrities to answer crazy questions that they'd never dream of answering from somebody else.
Hello, underage.
youtube.com
Who was in the wrong?
Podcasting is huge though. I know you mean traditional terrestrial radio but audio entertainment has never been more popular.
Stern was always inferior to O&A
99% of podcasts are garbage
Clearly you don't know this duo
NO, DO YOU?
Opie is such an unfunny autistic faggot. He ruined every show, especially when Patrice was on.
So if radio is dying what exactly is next for cars? Is it all going to be digital and radio won't exist anymore? At my local college radio stations they play house music, literally the only time you're going to hear that music is from college radio.
Podcasting is fucking cringe as hell and I don't understand how anyone listens to that shit, I imagine it's people without friends who listen to it.
I Miss This Little Nigga Like You Wouldn't Believe...
Pretty much. I stopped listening after they left radio in the early 2000s. I did watch some Sirius episodes
O&A had a lot of influence on early new grounds-esque scene and that influenced Yea Forums but no one is aware. Sad they became irrelevant.
Watching Artie's life implode during Sirius run was KINO!
Artie was always great.
>Podcasting is fucking cringe as hell
It's literally radio shows anyone can do for any subject matter that listeners can partake in when they feel like. The only difference between Stern and some dude in his basement recording on his laptop is the sound quality and how much they're being paid.
>hoo hoo hoo, I invented radio talk shows, Robin
I loved watching The Howard Stern on E! Fucking classic.
>Podcasting is fucking cringe as hell and I don't understand how anyone listens to that shit, I imagine it's people without friends who listen to it.
It's perfect background noise while you're doing something else.
Show peaked at Billy West and died after he left.
When you make something like this it's important to be specific about which interview you're talking about when multiple interviews with the same people exist.
So was 99% of radio. So is 99% of all media.
