I'd also recommend watching season 2 to get to season 3, but if you can't make it through, it's fine to just skim and read a plot summary. Also, skip the episode where 11 goes to the city in season 2. It's pointless and has no connection to anything else in the show

In 1 you can genuinely see and feel joyce’s desperation and grief, in season 2 the whole will being possessed aspect is genuinely quite unnerving, and then in season 3 you have teenagers making jokes during a Russian interrogation and a fucking singalong in the middle of the climax. It was never that silly before. The tone just felt completely off.
