Disney/Marvel has a massively famous academy award winning actress under contract for a film series that they as of now, have yet to find an interesting way to incorporate her into. Also the rule of superhero properties is wait long enough and eventually everyone gets powers or dies. Since they dont want to kill her off because she creates an off demographic ticket demand and couldn't find an interesting way to incorporate her back into the story the writers just figured "Fuck it give her powers or whatever"
