It's being made by Adam Wingard. Never saw Death Note or the Blair Witch reboot, but The Guest was kino. So hopefully this will be good.

And hopefully they can go nuts with the hell imagery. The film was butchered by the rating board and a lot of the cool looking stuff was cut out. And with the original footage being mostly destroyed, we'll never see a real extended cut of the film.

So, a well-made series would be the next best thing. Of course, they can always fuck that up.

I watched it when I first came to Yea Forums on their recommendation. What I learned was to disregard Yea Forumss opinions with extreme prejudice. At a certain point I realized I could just come here and if there were hypefags sperging about a particular production it meant the movie ot TV show was tickling the sub 80 IQs and it wasn't worth bothering with.

Fargo being a good show with a competent production crew and writers who could understand the show, it gave the soulless TV talent-vampires ideas to turn more movies into shows.

Sometimes it sort of works, like with Westworld but if you have an autist on the writing team, who fronted their idea to an ambitious person (Christoph Nolan's younger broheim), mostly it doesn't.

The spookiest thing the movie is when they play the recording from hell and you can hear a faint baby crying in the background. Why is there a baby in hell? Always spooked me.

Also making a series out of movie that accomplished all its goals is dumb. We already know the ship came back from Hell. Not everything mildly well-recieved thing needs a series. It’s like making Hocus Pocus the series or last Action Hero the early years.

They open a doorway to hell and have a character become intoxicated with the visions of hell and want to unleash it onto the rest of the universe, it's not the most complicated story, but could act as a good setup for delving into different characters' backgrounds which could be used as fodder for visions/temptations of hell.

The movie has a good premise and some nice set design, but overall it's kind of meh. They keep trying to remake/reboot classic movies that are impossible to top, but Event Horizon is one that they could actually improve on if they put in a little effort.
I don't know if it has the legs for a series though.

I don't know how far you got into it but the characters do change and develop throughout the series.
It also has some of the most realistic depictions of spaceflight and orbital mechanics in scifi.

I had no complaint with the general story or the depiction of future tech. The world creation of the show is fine. I just could not stand the characters and their insufferable moral flatness. Even if they change, all of the human interaction feels cheap and sloppy.

They could start with a prequel then transition to a remake and then sequel to squeeze out at least 3 seasons, but if they do prequel stuff first it ruins the mystery and suspense of the second crew investigating what happened.

Naomi is the only one that's mixed race, really. The cast is diverse but that makes sense within the plot where Earth has merged into a single planetary government.

Some of the acting isn't the best but some of it is very good. Jared Harris' and David Strathairn's characters for example.

I only played the demo, but the scientists on Mars were messing with some kind of portal to hell and it was slowly driving people on the Martian base insane. If you read one of the journals of the Martians, it was talking about one of the workers or patients who went crazy and split open his tongue using a knife.
