TIFF Director says JOKER is "terrific"

Why are all these people that have seen the movie saying it is excellent when a bunch of anons and MCU shills have been saying it is bad?

You know that festival directors always praise the films? No festival director will be like: yes we accepted this piece of shit garbage. There is no way of knowing until it premieres in Venice or until you see it for yourself.

Why would a festival accept a movie if they secretly thought it was shit?

Do you know how festivals work or do you watch the films they accept?

The people that run the festivals watch the movies. I have yet to see the movies they accepted because they have not been released yet.

Alright, go and watch Sean Penn's film called The Last Face and tell me that it's good. Festivals don't work like that. Also TIFF is a big festival they accept lot of films. Venice is the one which is surprising for Joker, but even that doesn't mean that much. When it premieres then we know whether it's good or bad.

no one watches film festival films outside a tiny hipster circle

its just something they slap on the box to make more sales then they go to collect their awards and get jerked off by their peers.

>terrific
means "terrible"

When's the last time a hollywood large-budget superhero film was accepted into the main competition of a film festival as prestigious as TIFF?

That's not true. If you like films then you probably watch at least some of those films, well unless you only watch capeshit and Hollywood blockbusters but say how much you love films.

wouldn't it be funny if the opening theme was hokus pokus by insane clown posse

i have signed copies of turbo kid and wolf cop, think those were both at sundance.

TIFF doesn't have a main competition slate. It's also not that prestigious, they just collect scraps from Cannes, Venice sometimes Telluride. Rarely do films have a world premiere in Toronto. Most of their films are taken from other festivals. Predator was in Midnight Madness last year and it was garbage.

Sundance is garbage, but those are good films so good for you.

>film
>prestigious

Midnight Madness is where genre fare like Joker generally go but, it’s playing as a Gala presentation, which are the more prestige films.

>Founded in 1976, TIFF is now one of the largest and most prestigious events of its kind in the world.[4] In 1998, Variety magazine acknowledged that TIFF "is second only to Cannes in terms of high-profile pics, stars, and market activity". In 2007, Time noted that TIFF had "grown from its place as the most influential fall film festival to the most influential film festival, period".[5] This is partially the result of the festival's ability and reputation for generating "Oscar buzz".
I meant to say Venice anyway, not TIFF

Cannes, Venice and Telluride are the most prestigious. TIFF is as BIG as these three, but less prestigious.

Oh no the JOKER success is going to span whole new series of dark, realistic drama capeshit just like Dark Knight did.

Joker is premiering in competition at Venice. So that means it was accepted by a prestigious festival.

That's true but every year even Gala there are films that are plain and simple bad or mediocre or average at best.
Yes stars and market is good at TIFF. 90% of filmmakers will choose to premiere their film in Venice over TIFF. Cannes and Venice are superior to TIFF in every possible way, especially in the films that have world premiere there.
>I meant to say Venice
WB wanted to put the film out of competition (like A Star is Born), Todd Phillips was the one who said that he wants to be in competition. Also it should be mentioned that Barbera likes that Oscar buzz around Venice. Downsizing, Suburbicon both in competition in 2017. Does that mean they are good? No.

Money you stupid fuck

Never but low-budget shit like this gets in all the time

I like some of the MCU - Cap, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and I’m really looking forward to this one. Not everyone is a shill ffs.

>90% of filmmakers will choose to premiere their film in Venice over TIFF
Good thing Jokino is competing at Venice too then

>DC & Warner brothers win an oscar for capeshit in the 90s
>wins several more
>takes Marvel until fucking 2018 to catch up and win their first oscar
>DC makes first box-office-record-breaking female-led Superhero film
>Marvel takes 2 years to catch up
>now DC gets a blockbuster into the main competition at a prestigious film festival
>Marvel:...
Why is Marvel always so far behind the curb? And what ways will DC innovate capeshit next?

Sure, that doesn't mean it's good like i said shit films compete every year. Barbera has a hard on for Oscars and accepts mediocre American films all the time.

Because Disney plays it safe.

i'm pretty scared to go see it in cinema guys, i mean anything could happen

Haha I love when disneyshills try to push a meme, it's so obvious they are middle aged moms from flyover shitholes doing it for disneyland tickets

Yeah there may be a SECOND person in the theater

>MCU shills
I don't visit Yea Forums often, do you guys actually get shills from Marvel here? That's pretty funny

You said that about Aquaman and it made more than Captain Marvel
>marlel only oscars are for the nigger propaganda one
Forever oscarlet, it's sad really
