not a burger here so kind of curious with the logistics of these house parties if they even are a thing in IRL. Do you guys bring your own booze or wouldn't it be easier to just someone buy it for you? Like pool your money and have someone's cool big brother buy it.

in my circle a couple of us were able to supply everybody else.

i was the hero in my group of nerds. i was in a jazz band with grownups and the bass player was a skater dude who helped me out.

parties were usually when someone's parents went out of town. some had folks that let us hide and drink a bit and low-key supervised.

movies were pretty accurate, desu.

we were fairly wholesome. no cocaine and most of us didnt get laid until senior year.

They do actually happen, usually the person with the free house finds a way to at least provide some booze for the party though people definitely are encouraged to bring stuff too. A lot of the time it does happen like in the movie where each little group of friends will get together and pool money for drinks. I grew up in the city so everyone just knew which places would sell to anyone, my local deli even told me that they would deliver beer anywhere to anybody they just didnt want us coming into the store for booze. If someone had a particular hook up or a car to buy a large amount they would collect money up front.

even in a small lake town we hade parties like every week so someone was getting it from somewhere

usually one or two people have a dysfunctional parent that they just swipe the booze from or yeah they get an older family member that just doesn't care to buy it for them.

I'm a heavy alcohol, but seriously anyone who drinks and does drugs in high school are losers. Just save that shit for college. The sober high school experience is the best one.

yeah it waa pretty epic. i played basic piano and when the swing fad hit i had a guy show me very basic chops. there was this swing band that needed a pianist and they were happy with the way i banges out chords. we morphed into a smaller thing and i got to play in bars at 16/17.

the problem was that i ended up failing in my starting role in mock trial and went on to pursue music instead of law and quickly degenerated into a hippie stoner NEET.
