The US was basically playing The World on Easy Mode thanks to its abundant resources and land availability in top of oceanic isolation from Europe and weak neighbors. Canada was more like playing the smaller tutorial level with less land, plenty of resources, and zero challenges. Enjoyed British protection (from the US) until granted independence, never had to deal with cultural fallout from industrialized slavery thanks to a total lack of cash crops, were protected by both the ocean AND (eventually) the US, didn't have to create a democratic system from scratch, and didn't even have to war against the Natives to nab their land. They have a much better grasp on immigration thanks to the US acting as a buffer state and never had to become some kind of anti-Soviet bulwark nor get roped into this world police bullshit. Their biggest troubles have been getting dragged into European wars thanks to Britain and, more currently, Quebec's autism. Their population is smaller and majority white. Their largest minority (Asian) is well educated as a whole. They're less diverse in ways that actually matter, ie culturally (excluding Quebec, which is pretty much their only taste).

tl; dr I'm not impressed with Canada because, while better off in many areas, it also didn't need to struggle for any of that.

You can clearly see where in the country some of those unique elements were managed to be maintained, to some degree or another. Quebec is the obvious one, but that's a given due to their history. Places out east in the Maritimes also still have elements of a distinct cultural as well.

This is fairly true. The vetting process to get into Canada is exceptionally rigid unless the person has establish higher education. But even then, you'll be required to redo half your education to get certified. I have a room mate that was a doctor of pharmacology in India but has to spend 4-5 years retaking his education. Honestly don't waste your time. Canada doesn't need more useless middle class. We're starving for doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers ect.
