I think Quentin Tarantino is overrated as a director.

I think the "intense confrontations" between characters are not the quality of good writing and instead are just a competition with who can Clint Eastwood stare eachother better.
I think it's pseudo-edgy, "quotable" reddit schlock for 20 year olds to put on a t-shirt and advertise to the world that they know about a movie that's more slightly underground or inaccessible than the most surface pap there is.
I think the movie Pulp Fiction is complete nonsense, and the fact that it won 6 academy awards is a joke. How do you justify "Best screenplay" going to a movie about a hitman that likes burgers and a watch up a guy's ass.

I just cannot even describe how much more engaging I find everything that Tarantino puts out than every other impossibly mediocre piece of cinema out there right now.

You give whatever dipstick has been given the ability to create a Netflix original 20 years and they couldn't a scene of this calibre.

How many hit films have you made?

Yeah but nobody gives a fuck about what you think.

I think (you) are an overrated poster

I'm just doing a sanity check

I don't get mad about things being "bad". I don't believe that the world is obligated to create things that I enjoy
They're just lame
Like holy shit. Everything is so lame. I don't fucking care about it

I can't remember the names of movies that I were told existed last week

Make something that makes me feel something. Anything. Why do you think it's acceptible that are so lame that it's offensive to my humanity

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a profound wakeup where I remembered that it's possible to actually care about what's being shown to me in a movie theatre

Ok

reddit spacing, pls fuck off faggot, this isnt ur fucking blog

You're right but that's the world we live in

It's basic visual hierarchy

Tell Hiroshimoot to add some kind of padding to the text so it doesn't just vomit a wall of text if you want to write something more than 3 lines

I agree with everything you said that i read. If you like cock up your ass you might like QT.

It's clear that he is overrated as a director. Most of his films consist of le epic references and le epic violence and carnage. Exploitation is cool you know? His first 3 films are good, they have a certain charm and personality. Since Kill Bill to Hateful Eight he was making immature claptrap. Most of his films are so rooted in exploitation and it becomes completely tiresome. I have already seen it. I understand why people like him, i mean it's still fun, even i like part of his films although they never come together for me. It's just a bunch of nice set pieces and the things in between are of no interest to me. Of course the exploitation aspect of his films are also something that usually doesn't appeal to me. I like the dialogue set pieces. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood felt more mature yet he still ended it in le epic bloodbath. I understand why people like his films but saying that he is some master director and one of the best directors ever is absolutely stupid.

Tarantula Cuckatino is SHIT!
TARANTULA KEKATINO BTFO!!!

Why did you switch to praising him or are you just saying that he sucks but also makes kino scenes?

Kill Bill was fun and Jackie Brown was a good heist film. Everything else is totally overrated because of Tarantino’s reputation. I like over the top things, and used to think that was his style, but in truth it’s just boring crap and fake stakes.

>It's a 20 year old reddit nigger thinks his opinion matters episode

you're getting writer and director confused.
Personally I think Tarantino is a great writer but mediocre director. He turns great scripts into okay movies.
Whereas other directors turn his scripts into visually interesting and distinct works:
>true romance
>from dusk till dawn
>natural born killers

You can turn scripts that don't have any character into good movies too (if you're a Malick fan, there's an example)

Part of directing is getting the best performances out of your actors. Saying that he consistently puts good confrontational scenes, because the actors pull it off, doesnt diminish his role as a director and screenwriter

Lads I'm not saying Quentin Tarantino is bad.

I think that Pulp Fiction did not deserve 6 academy awards.
What I'm also saying is true is that it's just a million times better than anything anyone else is able to come up with.

Like holy shit. Netflix has a trillion movies.
Everything from I Love Lucy to Dinosaurs has been remade by Netflix.

None of it is good. The only good thing Netflix has ever produced have been documentaries when they accidentally find something that's interesting.

Is this a byproduct of the time we live in?
Because Quentin Tarantino feels out of place nowadays. He feels like a relic from another time. Just because he produces films that are not the most phoned in tripe imaginable.

His dialog literally only works because of the actors. It's cool when Sam Jackson says it. When he writes himself a part he just comes across as a self-fellating nigger wannabe.

I 100% agree with you OP. My guess is that this movie was such a hit back in the day because “OMG THEY SAID NIGGER ON THE BIG SCREEN!” It doesn’t hold up in today’s America because everyone and their mom post nigger on the internet now and it’s becoming less edgy

movies are supppsed to be cool. quentin gets it. a bunch of fags from itt clearly dont.

>quentin
>cool

He may be overrated when it comes to your average cinema goer that doesn't know much about films, but the deeper I get into it as a medium, the more respect I have for Tarantino because he's truly a great director, though not one of the all time greats and that's an important distinction to make. He's the master of intertextuality and consistently makes movies that are good at their worst (see Django), and just a step or two short of being a masterpiece (see both volumes of Kill Bill). He makes movies for people that share his passion for the medium and is great at it, all the people shitting on him or saying reddit this and other such nonsense are people that have nothing of worth to say and/or are just being contrarian because they're miserable cunts.

Tarantino's movies obviously have a globalist agenda, as you can see with all the interracial sex and violence against whites in his movies.

Nevertheless. My favorite Tarantino movies are Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained.

>schlock
Just stop please

It's true, his films are exploitation schlock.

I, too, watch RLM and base all of my opinions on theirs.

his films are enjoyable and generally relatively original and recognizable, which sets him apart from most hollywood directors. it's still mainstream hollywood though, so you can't really expect much more

Didn't they say that he is the last great director? So obviously they like him, unlike me.

Thou art a liar, a fake if thou so wills.

Tarantino’s elevates schlock was the precursor to all of today’s capeshit. Fuck gen x and their cultural sensibilities.

I watch RLM yeah so what. I'm able to think for myself and decide when they are right and wrong. Though it happens that i use their verbage when I do agree with them.
