Reminder: 28 Days/Weeks later are not zombie movies. The infected aren't dead and they move too fast anyway to be zombies. If any pleb tries to post these movies as zombie movies ignore them.

Dawn of the Dead 1978
Return of the Living Dead

I don't think anything else really compares to these two. The other Romero movies are good too (up until the 2000s) and some of the Italian things are pretty decent, as well.

Nothing as good as those two AFAIK, until you get to Dawn 2004 and Days Later.

What am I missing?

The Dead (2010) was surprisingly good imo, but it came out even later than 2004. There are a lot of "fun" zombie movies that are great, but serious stuff from the 80's and 90's that is actually good is rare.

I'd add Dawn of the Dead 1978 in at number 3 behind the two you mention. I always thought the mall setting was pretty kino.

>The Dead (2010
Is yet that the one set in Africa with the sequel set in India? The first one was decent. The sequal was meh.

Good taste

Shaun of the dead unironically
Dawn of the dead is good too

yep, that's the one, the second one was shit.

I liked Dr. Butcher MD which had a similar feel to Zombie

Both of those are clearly zombie movies. The false distinction that you've tried to hold is "academic" and ultimately meaningless, since the creatures pose the same general threat and entail the same general hazards of transmission. Even the processes of zombification in other zombie movies (which include the 28 films), even if only dimly understood, are always at bottom scientific in nature. Physically, a zombie can be stopped. The point is to get over societal collapse and cope with one's own metaphysical/religious fears, if such is even possible. Failing that, simply survive.

28 Days Later is of course a zombie movie, and 28 weeks later is of course a zombie movie. They merely present slight permutations on the morphology. You might as well say that Return of the Living Dead isn't a zombie movie because of fast zombies (yes, the absurdity is equal. I invite you to shuffle slowly down this path, or rush with necrotized, useless muscles as you prefer).

Furthermore Dawn 1978 is clearly the best zombie film, not merely my personal favorite, and moreover Day is quite bad. Dumb Yea Forums posters regulalry mistake Day for a good zombie film (it isn't).

Wait, Dawn is one of my two picks - which are you thinking of for a total of 3?

For me is these two.
Long distant honorable mention It Stains the Sands Red for the very original take.

Return of the Living Dead > Dawn of the Dead > Re-Animator (yes it's a zombie film) > Night of the Living Dead > Day of the Dead

If draugr count as zombies I would rec Dead Snow 1 & 2

Day>Dawn

But either way get over your hard on for Romero. He was a hack.

Zombies are the living dead. Once dead that were brought back to life. Your pseudo ideology of what classifies as a zombie film goes straight in the trash because the facts don't lie. An hazardous breakout infection movie is not the same as a zombie movie. It's yet another sub-genre

>But either way get over your hard on for Romero. He was a hack
I love when people who have accomplished nothing tell anyone who's a hack and who isn't,

False academic distinction autistic fan headcanon nonsense. The 28 films are clearly zombie films.

Tombs of the Blind Dead. It has horses and trains and some really spooky zombies.

I know horror movies and Romero doesn't come close to directors like Bava, Argento, Fulci, Hitchcock, Carpenter, Hooper...etc.

Night was a rip off of Last Man On Earth mixed with Romero's cuck fantasies and Dawn is overrated. The only other movie he was known for was Season of the Witch...also trash.

>False academic distinction autistic fan headcanon nonsense.
and yet you can't refute it other than saying
>hurr durr it's so obviously a zoombi movie becuz it looks liek one lol

>I know horror movies
Go blog about then, nobody.

The one you posted is overrated as fuck apart from the thong bikini wearing bimbo getting attacked by an underwater zombie and a shark.
Nightmare City
Hell of the Living Dead
and
Return of the Living Dead are kino

Say it with me.

28 DAYS LATER IS NOT A ZOMBIE FILM YOU RETARDS. Anyone who works in the genre would tell you this

Brain Dead / Dead Alive for the superb gore. There's a ton more but zombie movies kind of all fade together. Even Brain Dead has me a little mixed up with Evil Dead but the feel is still damn good.

I'd rate 2004 over 1978. The remake had the balls to kill everyone off while the original went with that corny pie throwing stuff and cheesy ending. If they kept the women getting sliced up by the helicopter and the blades stopping to show they had no fuel, I'd take the original in a heartbeat.

Great taste.

What's next, Left 4 Dead isn't a zombie game?

Here... Come back and talk about zombies when you've seen more than two overrated trash movies. Your opinion is irrelevant.

Return of the Living Dead!!!FACT!!!

Attached: Return of the Living Dead.jpg (960x1440, 555K)

For me the best are...

Return of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead 78
Zombie
Night of the Living Dead 68
Dellamorte Dellamore
Re-Animator
Braindead

!!!FACT!!!

This cloth... it smells like death.

>Night of the Seagull

Just got this on Bluray last month. Not the best Blind Dead movie, that would be part 2 (Return of the Evil Dead), but it's got solid atmosphere and riffs on Lovecraft!!!FACT!!!

Of ReAnimator is a zombie movie then that makes Frankenstein and Bride zombie movies.

>Cemetery Man
What did you like about that? I bounced right off that movie as a kid but I've seen it mentioned enough that I wouldn't be against giving it another shot.

both dawn of the deads
day of the dead
here alone
return of the living dead 1
nightmare city
resident evil 1
resident evil 2 until alice shows up
28 days later
night of the comet if they're zombies

Not that user, but I love Cemetery Man. It's a hilarious film. It's also oddly relaxing to watch.

kino

Zombie soundtrack KINO. From the visionary director of Troll 2 and Monster Dog.

kino

>I liked Dr. Butcher MD which had a similar feel to Zombie

Probably because it had the same cast and sets!!!FACT!!!

It has a wonderful dreamlike quality to it while being eccentric enough to stand out with enough gore and nudity to satisfy me. I just really like the surreal and ethereal vibe it has. Can't believe no one has put out a special edition Bluray considering how big zombies have been over the last 15 years or so!?!FACT!!!

28 Days Later isn't a zombie film pleb.

Not surprising since it was produced by the same guy and features the main actor from Fulci's movie. Hell, the wide shot of them riding in the Land Rover is straight up taken from Zombie.

Underrated

>28 Days Later isn't a zombie film pleb.

100% correct and I'm tired of hearing fucking retards saying otherwise. It's a VIRUS film that doesn't kill its host, just turns them into mindless animals. A zombie movie is when a person dies and the body comes back to life while still being technically dead i.e. no pulse, heartbeat, a motorized corpse. And to answer , when Frankenstein and the Bride are resurrected, I assume their hearts worked and they had blood flowing to their organs and brains. He was specifically trying to bring people back to life not simply re-animate corpses. In Re-animator, bodies and body parts are able to move without blood flow or other autonomic functions. Even when the bride rips her own heart out she still lives. In that case I categorize her as a zombie but see Frankenstein and his Bride and resurrected people and not technically the living dead!!!FACT!!!

Me in the back
Has anybody released the soundtrack yet?

The Rezort caught me off guard as being pretty good, kinda like zombie Jurassic Park

Not sure if this technically counts as a 'real' zombie movie, but it was fucking fantastic regardless
