In the hour it takes to read the script and greenlight it? What the fuck?
There are massive mistakes in some of these movies that could have been fixed with one line of dialogue, or a similarly minor change. We aren't talking big fuckups that they can only fix in post. So if the mistakes are so easy to notice and fix, and there are so many (presumably overeducated and overpaid) hands in the pot, and billions of dollars and people's careers are on the line, WHY IS IT SO RARE THAT THEY GET NOTICED AND FIXED?

A very large proportion of modern films (particularly 'blockbusters') are created to appeal to a foreign market, not just domestic. In fact, the domestic US market might only represent a small portion of their potential profit base.

The simple truth is that the people writing movies these days are people who never learned classical storytelling, literature, or stage drama. They're people who exploit the latest social cause and turn it into something 'dramatic'. They create stories about things happening to a character rather than characters growing through failure.
Finally, the characters are in general written to be genderless, cultureless, and sexless, so that they can be cast multi-Kulti. This leads to the common problem we see everywhere; that the characters are entirely unrelateable and we don't care about them.
It's really that simple; the plot doesn't have to make sense because that's not why people go to see these movies. Notice how great TV shows have become as a result; much of the great thoughtful writing has gone into TV instead.

99% of movies made today are not art which would require things like competent writing or an obvious effort on the part of the directors or the actors to make an entertaining film. Movies are commercial products made to generate revenue for the studio, and this the shareholders.

It is literally the other way around. Americans can´t even read subtitles, producers would rather remake a movie in native english with their own famous people (tons of VFX money) and dumb down the plots for the average burger head to understand.
I think there are several possible causes for this but essentially it´s the audiences fault. The current audiences have allowed to move the axis of interest from cinematic related issues to social issues and movies and shows are taking advantage of that and shielding behind it. This is because analyzing a movie requires certain level of understanding and knowledge about what makes a good story, what are the aesthetic characteristics of a certain genre, knowledge of other movies to make comparisons or understand intertextual references and stuff like that. Comparatively anyone can express a political opinion about a social issue. So by moving the focus of the discussion to the later studios can blame a movie failure on political bias instead of taking responsibility for making a bad movie. On that same line screen writters now put the subtext on the text to make sure people understand what the movie is about and this is done in detriment of immersion on the story, or actors for example, are cast for political reasons instead of because the plot required them. Basically the story is not king anymore because society interests are shifting. (or seem to have shifted. People into politics are more vocal about their issues than people that just want to watch a movie or show)
We could also mention how the focus of visual effects have changed and that spectacle itself has become more important than the story that motivates it´s use. As an unintended consecuence of VFX being able to make anything happen writting becomes lazy because working around limitations often forces teams to arrive to creative solutions.

You can take more risks on that money than on 250-300 million, which may bankrupt your studio if the film were to fail completely. Those people have completely forgot the spirit of cinema, cinema isn't supposed to be a sure thing, it's about being creative, taking risk with new things. But alas, the true problem is that as long as this filming-by-numbers and then throwing money at marketing campaign works with the masses of normies, why the fuck shouldn't they do it? When, like yours truly, you have ever gotten into watching lots of classic films, 60s and earlier, you really get that perception that holy shit they really don't give a shit about stories and creativity anymore, it's just same beats over and over, and lots of faggy CGI.

The producers are on coke and don't give a fuck about the movie aside from whether it makes money. The actors are there to play pretend for a few hours so they can go back to partying and banging. The scripts were written 20 years ago when the movie rights were bought and are mostly ignored/rewritten once filming begins. 50% of the people on set on diversity hires. The only 'normal' people on set do the minimum wage jobs no one cares about like cameraman and makeup. The CGI department increasingly does most of the work even for non-CGI intensive movies and Hollywood is constantly trying to outsource their jobs as well. Most of the audience is increasingly Chinese because most people now know Hollywood movies are awful so the scripts have a weird simplified english that doesn't sound normal. The only two people remaining in Hollywood willing to deal with all the clusterfuckery and degeneracy because they want to make movies are Bradly Cooper and Clint Eastwood.

Now let's talk about the audience.
Movie audiences are succumbing to the power of branding and the sunk cost fallacy. Increasingly, movies are thought of as "good" not on their own merits, but because marketing convinced you to see it, and you did. You *paid* for it, therefore it must have been worth it. One of the most notable exceptions, the one that really proves the rule, is the respective performances of TLJ versus Jumanji 2. TLJ was so glaringly bad that the public watched Jumanji in smaller, packed-out theaters with smaller screens with inferior sound systems all through the holidays while TLJ played in high-quality, IMAX-sized glory with crisp, booming audio dynamite. To nobody.
If nothing else proves how bad a film TLJ truly is, that does. It was so bad that not even the power of Disney's marketing could elevate it. The most powerful hype machine on the planet couldn't save a Star Wars film from a twenty-year-dormant IP's unasked-for sequel.

It's the industrial-like production process of the big films. There are dozens of working parts to it like actors, set bookings, CGI company bookings, locations that can only be available on certain dates etc. These all have scheduling issues and inherent problems if one part doesn't work out correctly as planned. The whole thing is a big juggling act. Even these shitty big blockbuster movies probably had the best intentions at first in the minds of the producers, but they just turn out incoherent shit due to the nature of the process. Most of the time great films are only so because off good luck during production holding together good ideas.
