vieira also did a great job shutting down our wide overloads which has been an Arteta staple since his first day. It's easy to shut down our left side sans Martinelli. ESR is not the guy we want at LW by himself. That's not his strength. We need him running into space that others create for him. It's also clear that when Ode is taken away and put off his game that Saka can also be isolated.

He's good but Arteta needs to pair Partey with another midfielder with impact in order to get Odegaard to work consistently. Its fine when the other team doesn't smother Partey/the mid/backfield and/or Tienery/Tomiyasu are available but when they're not he hardly ever gets onto the ball. It was particularly bad this game because its obvious CP had targeted both fullbacks for constant harass so Cedric/Tavares had little time or space to pass forward let alone to find Odegaard. He also has a terrible habit of giving away penalties when he attempts to win the ball back in the 18 yard box. It's a good thing that his work rate/anticipation is good enough that he gets back to defend but in panic situations he's the last one I want to see tackling the ball from behind.
