Also, women who are skilled in the martial arts have often been shocked when they are easily thrashed by male assailants who have no martial arts training but are by their being male naturally bigger, heavier, and possessed of greater muscle mass and skeletal density.

Size only matters if there's a disproportionate gap in strength or if there's a relatively equal skill level. That's another reason why weight classes exist; it's to determine who is the best via the grey, not so black and white.

Tyson is being modest to a boxing legend that Tyson probably truly respects. Also, Tyson is probably on medications for his manic-depressive disorder which makes him a much milder personality. Personally, in Tyson's prime, not on medications for manic-depression, and with Cus D'Amato looking after Tyson's interests and guiding him, I would probably pick Tyson. And, yes, I'm well aware that Ali destroyed Sonny Liston and George Foreman, the Mike Tysons of their era.

This is clearly wrong and hard science backs it up. p = mv; momentum is equal to the product of the mass multiplied by the velocity. That's one of the major reasons why in auto accidents, the occupants of the heavier car usually suffer less than the occupants of the lighter car.

If I had to get punched in the face by a 250 lb heavyweight or a 130 lb lightweight, I'd choose to get hit by the lightweight assuming that the velocities of their fists were the same. In real life, I'm sure the lightweights' fists are faster but I'm pretty sure they're not nearly two times faster than that of heavyweights.

Ali would destroy Tyson. Tyson's reign was in a very weak era for boxing, none of the guys he beat were that good. Once he fought top tier fighters like Holyfield and Lewis he was completely outmatched.

I don't know about the statement that Tyson only fought bums. Many of them are bums because Tyson destroyed them. I admit Tyson was pretty bad after he got out of prison but by then, Cus D'Amato was no longer around to guide Tyson and the vultures, who were more interested in exploiting Tyson than anything else set in. Tyson's boxing style is noticeably sloppier than before he entered prison. If I remember correctly, the vultures had already infiltrated Tyson's camp by the time of the Buster Douglas match.

Tyson's hitting power and the incredible agility he displayed in his early matches is something I've never seen before in any heavyweight boxer. I'm not saying Tyson would easily beat Ali and I'm not even confident that Tyson would win such a hypothetical match. However, based on what I've seen of the two boxers, I'd pick Tyson. Ali had a granite chin but his lack of true heavyweight punching power is a serious drawback against a Tyson in his prime with good trainers, a good corner, and no parasites.

An interesting bout would be Tyson against any of the Klitschko brothers. Tyson's relative shortness for a heavyweight was first exposed by the fairly tall Buster Douglas. I've often wondered how an in his prime Tyson would fare against boxers who are nearly 7 feet tall, about 1 foot taller than Tyson.

I love Tyson, I'm not trying to disparage him, I'm just saying the man is 5'10 and never actually beat a legendary fighter unless you count a very washed up Larry Holmes. Ali beat Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Listen.. all Hall of Famers. Tyson struggled with tall, skilled outside fighters which is obvious, Ali would be his worst possible opponent stylistically.

The Klitschkos would also be a tough fight, especially if it's after Wlad's KO losses where he started to fight like a pussy after and take zero chances. Before Corrie Sanders though, Tyson probably would have knocked Wlad out.

Marciano famously boxed until he was old enough to retire and never lost a match. It's not Marciano's fault that he just happened to be born in an era where the boxers in his prime were either crap or over-the-hill great boxers.
