how do you find players in Vanarama? No transfer budget, no scouting budget, almost no wage budget (you can usually sign 2-3 free agents at most and you can't let players go since nobody wants them, you have to wait for them to fuck off mid-season and fuck up your team depth), loans cost money now, etc.
The only thing I know is to hire a DoF and ask him for recommendations and get players on trials but he only gives you 3 names at a time for any position and you have to wait a couple weeks before he gives you new names
idk i have a few go-to players that fit my style and the rest i just use the recruitment meetings and scouting reports.

flick through premier league/championship teams and request reports on youngsters with 1 year left on their deals
I've never seen a prem/champ player willing to go to VN/VS, even 18 year olds but I'll try
here's what i do to streamline the process:
>flick through clubs (players -> all players -> expiring contracts)
>shortlist all u19s
>after you've done this for all prem/championship teams, go to your shortlist
>tick interested only
>filter for determination at most 10 and remove them
>filter for negative personalities and remove them
>now you have a list of potentially decent youngsters that likely don't appear in your player search because you can't afford good enough scouting package
or, if you're already in july, go to world (ctrl+w) -> transfers -> released players and shortlist those released from good clubs and spam trials

What are some of your favourite exploits of past FMs?
Three strikers in FM12 just broke the match engine because the two opposing CDs have no idea how to handle the middle striker.
Strikerless formations in FM17 also broke opposing backlines but to a slightly less exaggerated extent.
Buying free agents in FM21, giving them a personal chat to cheat the game into thinking they've been at your club for a while, and then selling them in the same transfer window for that 'arry Redknapp experience.
