This movie looks poorly made and whatever camera they shot it on makes it look fucking cheap

I was hyped on this concept for years and now I know it's just some garbage Netflix original film

Decency. Glorifying degenerate criminals is one of (((Hollywoods))) oldest tricks.

It's not an invalid point. Too many flicks present entirely morally grey characters where nobody is arguably "good" from a classical storytelling perspective. A protagonist can have flaws that don't drag him down to the same level as his antagonist.

lack of education probs

Mob movies are just overdone at this point.

They work as character studies, the way they used to make then in the 50 but now hollywood has been making heroes out of psychopats for the past 40 years is getting tiresome.

they only glorify sociopaths, cause it is politically correct somehow
you'll never see hollywood celebrating being racist, sexist, or pedo, whoring, statutory rape, or even movie piracy, which are the kind of crimes normal people are likely to commit, and are clearly less harmful for society than being a gangster

I completely agree with Charles. I've never been able to enjoy mob movies for this reason. Kind of wish I could see what everyone else sees in the Godfather series.

Like it's still a decent movie, but there's the constant feeling of hatred and lack of interest for the characters. It would be better if they just got run over by a truck or dedicated their abilities to doing something less socially cancerous.

>glorify sociopaths, cause it is politically correct somehow

right

Agreed. Why can't we have a movie of a nice family going to church? Then after they come home and do laundry.

I have no idea. It's mindbogglingly stupid.

Except you're safer under mob protection. Feds have a higher civilian body count than any italian gangster.

>politically correct somehow
Because the whole "stop whining and take control of your life or you'll get fucked over" sentiment is considered admirable

except if you mistrust minories or something. killing white people is okay

stupidity

But it sort of is. You will have people make all sorts of excuses for torture and mass murder, they all but made Loki a hero and he straight up murdered innocents. Racists are always depicted as 2 dimensional. That's why that meme of Thanos saying nigger was created.

what causes people to post literal who twitter screencaps as if they're relevant to television or film

> being racist, sexist, or pedo, whoring, statutory rape, or even movie piracy.
all of those things gangsters are 1000 times more likely to support on a global scale.

But i agree with you. Hollywood is a bunch of liberal hypocrites, we knew that.

Based moralfag. Also Scorcese and everyone involved in this are massive tools for making a movie STARRING de-aged characters. Have some fucking dignity

> Racists are always depicted as 2 dimensional.
That wasn't always the case btw.

This is unironically the godfather fault.
Even scorsese best gangsters films(Goodfellas and Casino) has always been at the shadow of his pal Francis ford Coppola.

blessed and eucharisted

My mother feels the same way, she also doesn't like prison movies or heist movies. So my guess is it's an estrogen thing.

Stop browsing twitter
Stop posting it here

The only way to make a gangster film is to go the way of scarface and there will be blood(even though he was not a gangster).
None of this "am a family man" and "honor" bullshit Just make them straight up fucking psychopaths.

>The entire federal law enforcement apparatus has a higher body count then a single individual

You don't say?

Lack of strong father/male figure in their life along with a over-doting mother figure protecting from every danger in the world.

The Iceman is my favorite mobster-ish movie. It balances how coldblooded these people are and how their actions genuinely ruin the lives of innocents. Also, mob movies are just escapism for regular folk who crave some sense of excitement and liberation from their regular lives. Not hard to process. The mob movie has simply lost its escapist appeal to superheroes, and those aren't even escapist anymore. No more moralizing, no sense of wonder, just bright googly-eyed sugary shit.

Bootlicking

That reads like something a 12 year old girl would say.

If any of those dipshits had a head that actually worked, you would see that they actually do the opposite. Some common themes:
>Mobsters act all nice and friendly to each other, preach about "brotherhood" until their neck is on the line and to save themselves they have to betray/kill someone. This shows the hypocrisy of mob life
>Degenerate scumbags who are desensitized to violence continually terrorize innocents
>On the outside they seem to be enjoying life and are leaders in something but they eventually degrade into something without meaning by using drugs, gambling, drinking, etc

If anything, to me it seema like it taints the image of criminal movies

The major mafia organizations, or large parts of them, have likely been taken over and run, either by the federal government, or some section of the deep state, and the takeover likely happened for most of the major sections sometime in the 1920s.
Every once in a while some sections may need to have control reestablished, and it’s unlikely the lower ir mid leven people within the organizations know the score, but there is pretty good evidence many major mobsters were basically being run by elements within the Federal Government and FBI.
Pic related was basically an admission of it.

Literally a Soimen.

>@repub
/pol/ causes it.

I grew up in the hood where my childhood friend's entire family (except for her mom who aspired to be a cop) were gangsters involved in organized crime and drug trafficking. She hated The Godfather, Scarface, Casino, and Goodfella and refused to watch them because they glorified crime and relatives and kids from our schools constantly quoted those movies and modeled themselves after the anti-heroes of those flicks.

She eventually watched them in her late 20's and enjoyed them.

Also see Meyer Lanski and his dealings with the CIA and Lucky Luciano and his unionbusting in exchange for control of the southern Italian crime syndicates in the wake of Operation Gladio.

A real redpill is realising that Mussolini did more to bust the mafia than any Italian administration before or since.
