Do individuals with poor mental health make better art?
Do individuals with poor mental health make better art?
no way or else Dobson would Leonardo DaVinci
depends on what you like
some nut bars can see the world from a completely different perspective and it could be so bizarre but make sense at the same time making you interested
If someone is put together the best art they might achieve is the technical side to it and any thought provoking piece was likley 2 years of research
Its why modern art is populated by upperclass kids, they don't have the talent but do have the time
>That spacing with not a bit of punctuation.
I think its a combination of being autstically driven, ruthlessly dedicated and feeling the deep dread and freedom of depression that normals do not feel.
All top tier artists have to work incredibly hard to perfect their craft. But perfecting your craft does not make you creative or innovative.
There are more well adjusted masters of art in history than mental ones, but nobody wants to remember them because they're not as interesting.
I think mental illness helps with breaking conventions in visual art. Someone like van gogh is a good example of this. He wasnt formally trained and painted what worked in his mind. But was he technically better than any of the old masters? No. Was the way he painted more innovative and lend itself to more expression? yes. Probably because he was unshackled from what was expected of him as an artist or a person because he was a schitzo freak.
>READING IS HARD
no thank you
i'm on Yea Forums non of that matters to me here
People with mental health issues often see the world differently, but IMHO art is made in spite of life challenges.
t. classical musician with clinical depression
Yes, but not ALL people with poor mental health. It works out to like 98% of people with mental illness just being incapable of functioning in society, while a lucky 2% can direct their mental illness towards creative genius and excel in life.
High intelligence and creativity correlates with mental health issues.
This really.
mental illness often lowers inhibitions or causes people to act out or overshare to the extent that a healthy individual wouldn't. Someone depressed would have a better time expressing the sorrow and pain felt during a sad event than someone simply trying to write a depressed or sad character.
It's also often a way to actually express how people feel and is therapeutic in its own way. I myself started writing years ago after a period of depression, I haven't been able to write anything half decent since because I just don't have that same frame of mind.
Depends on the specific kind of poor mental health really. People with Bipolar disorder or ADHD are typically the best at channeling their mental illness towards art since their affliction makes them impulsive and manic chads, while something like chronic anxiety or depression is just shit for everything.
Nah m8 other way around
likely not. sadly. even autistic savants are just a freak show.
Well if Van Gogh had been on antidepressants he would never have created his masterpieces and we wouldnt be talking about him to this day.
Explain your opinion. Normies are shit at making art. It’s why Facebook and Reddit can’t produce any good memes, while places that offer a platform to lunatics like Yea Forums and Twitter are a goldmine in that department.
Better you get at making art the crazier you get, it’s a process and you have to want it
IIRC he experienced 0 days of fame or any real success in his lifetime.
"normies" eventually experience real life trauma that causes them to re-investigate their art that is way more relatable , people with garden variety mental illnesses tend to just see if they can outsmart normies
That too but my point still stands.
is your point that people should suffer for amusement
Is that Izuku from My Hero Academia?
Mental illness isn't a guarantee of making good art.
No. My point is that if he had taken the happy pills like everyone does nowadays he would never have turned his suffering into excuisite art. He would have just been another wasted life.
What im saying is drugs like these go against the human condition and were losing many future Van Goghs thanks to it.
I doubt he's mentally ill but more of a clueless idiot.
lol have you tried not being a loser? That might help your depression
but its sometimes a prerequisite
have sex
dilate
maybe for more unique or moving art but not necessarily more sublime. if anything, probably less sublime
