What would you prefer?

But it's about the Inquisitor Eisenhorn, not guardsmen.

Attached: eisenhorn omnibus cover.jpg (1000x1093, 214K)

Guardsmen give the xenos scale. Otherwise its just gurren lagann two guys throwing galaxies at each other.

There’s already been an Ultrasmurfs movie

Makes it more grounded and lifelike
I'm sure we'll see Space Marines and be in awe at their size

It honestly should be this way. Makes the protagonist somewhat relatable to the audience, just an another cog in the machine.
If the movie was from a perspective of a space marine that'd be to alien for the audience, can't really see themselves in the shoes of a literal fucking demigod, who has the strength of ten men, endless stamina, can gain memory from the flesh of fallen enemies and spit fucking acid.
Make it a movie about a hopeless defense against Tyrannids from the perspective of an every day joe the Imerial Guardsmen, chastised by his commisar, surrounded by fanatics. See him fight an unwinnable battle, see his fellow soldiers effortlessly hacked to pieces, being constantly pushed back with no hope of winning. Then at the end show just a bunch of space marines showing up and absolutely slaughtering the enemy and saving the day.

>Imperial Guardsmen
no, you bigot trash
a trans imperial guardswoman of color

This

ummm, sweatie. It's the Astra Militarum, 'kay? Please brand right.

no

Fuckin YES!

>movie is hit
>bigger studios get intrested in wh40k universe
>they hire all female #metoo team of writers to make one
what would come out?

This, Inquisitors are like the polar opposite of Guardsmen.

I don't know shit about Warhammer and I wanna watch the fuck out of that.

Where do I begin?

It’s literally happening, Eisenhorn was announced.

Gaunt’s Ghosts, then Ciaphas Cain. GG is straight up the “common Guardsmen doing heroic things” book series.

creator of most 40k lore was jewish and the guy who wrote eisenhorn is half-jewish

The only way they could fuck up a Warhammer movie is female space marines. Everything else is not only possible in-universe, but probably canon in one of the books.

Its already happening
Well its not a movie yet but it is happening still
warhammer-community.com/2019/07/17/heretic-traitor-rogue-inquisitor-tv-stargw-homepage-post-2/

more like necron vs tau with those lasers

>absolutely slaughtering the enemy and saving the day

then everybody praises the Space Marines and no one even remembers the guardsman or the friends that he lost to defend a no-name piece of rock.

BASED

GW has already started the soi'ing of the franchise.

welp.
it was nice being a fan while it lasted.

Thanks!

Cute

You’d think you’d have more umbrage with Gee Dubs resurrecting Robust Gullyman and making the game hero based, rather than faceless armies of disposable people.

It's already being destroyed by meme shit like Primaris and forwarding the story.

I wish it was about based commissar Cain and a Valhallan Ice Warriors

Heroes are part of our culture. Brown transwomen heroes are not.
I apologize for your ignorance if you cannot distinguish between the two.

Gonna be devil's avocado but I think 40K storytelling on film and animation should start with institutional drama - detective (inquisitor) stories, gang wars, and other facets of life in the Imperium. Mostly anthologies of short stories rather than grand arcs. Big wars involving the guard and space marines should be kept cryptic, alluded to but never fully rendered, much like how in Bladerunner we never really saw the wars that Roy talked about for example. Maybe years down the line when the groundwork for the shittiness of life in the 41st millenium is laid down, we can get to the big wars and the lives of guardsmen and astartes, and then years after, the Horus Heresy.

am I the only one who thinks starting with the Horus Heresy is a fucking great idea?
Fulgrim alone would satiate the semitic thirst for degeneracy.

Why are you speaking in the present tense? Was there an announcement that I missed somewhere or what?

Eisenhorn TV show, he's retarded basically.

It doesn't have to be through the lens of an Astartes, but neither does it have to be through the lens of guardsman either. Personally I'd prefer to see a story through the eyes of a lucky remembrancer. But of course that then limits the setting to 30k, which is fine and all. I do like 30k.

>It wont be 10 episodes of Iron Warriors shelling L*yalist scum to death, buildinh fortesses and being bitter
DROPPED

>First movie
>Audiences are supposed to sympathize with the Imperium

Attached: 1563760991429.jpg (1000x1000, 286K)

I get where you're coming from and at first a lot of pre-existing fans would get instant gratification from seeing their favorite grand events on screen for the first time, but I think for casuals and outsiders to 30K/40K, the weight of how important the Horus Heresy is would be lost unless storytellers first establish the shittiness of the 41st millenium so they can then pique interest in what caused it.

>Fulgrim alone would satiate the semitic thirst for degeneracy.
>when you remember that Fulgrim canonically literally had his anus stretched open to the point of near tearing by his own captains

That's just cute. She'll do better next time

Is this real?

>it's not about tzeentch raping khorne
yikes

That's a good thing.

The Horus Heresy is the Clone Wars of the Star Wars OT; you reference it and show the aftermath, you don’t show the battles itself.

>Cato Sicarius
That madlad

Yes but it is for kids, it's not bad desu my wifes son has read it.

Yes, for some reason the main enemies are Necron. It’s a weird and tonally inappropriate story that’s ultimately harmless.

the Imperuim doesn't give a shit about your skin color, gender or sexual orientation.

Eisenhorn is literally the best possible choice for adaptation and any outrage over it is exclusively from Dawn of War/Warhammer Wiki tertiaries who don't deserve to be catered to.

>tfw the only books I've read in the series are the Horus Heresy
Eisenhorn starts off boring as fuck
what else is worth the read?
teach me dorklords.

The soi has been creeping in for a while now. Just look what happened to fantasy. Infected with 8th edition soi then destroyed and replaced with Planescape: Low Test edition. It's happening with 40k, just more slowly. it is inevitable

>the Imperuim doesn't give a shit about your skin color, gender or sexual orientation.
>gender or sexual orientation
I'm like 99% confident they would. That's just begging with an open mouth for a visit by an Inquisitor. You know, Slaanesh cultists and all that.

How do I get into WH40K Yea Forumsbros? I created a small Chaos army back in the day, but I'm interested in the lore this time. I like that they're basically a mix of Space Romans/Greeks/Crusaders.

Literally then only smurf who has ever been worth shit. He used to be a huge faggot as well, until they retconned him into being based as fuck.

Gaunt's Ghosts.

it bombed, everyone hated it

Devastation of Baal. It also starts off somewhat slow, but it at least has the misadventures of captain zapp brannigan early.

The satire won't work if the common viewer doesn't know what the show is making fun of.

Eisenhorn grows on you, Malleus is much better than Xenos. If you’re looking for something more action-packed, you want Ciaphas Cain and Gaunt’s Ghosts. The AdMech books are pretty great if you like toaster fuckers, that Mechanicus game is pretty faithful too.

The Inquisition keeps your orientation on file as just one of many things to use against you if they need to. Other than that they don't care unless you're attending drug-orgies and shit. Otherwise the Imperium is generally speaking traditional in its sexuality, but not really through strict enforcement/persecution

women serve in the guard just like men.
several planets are completely militaristic, everyone serves from the day they can hold a gun.

This, a movie about Cain would be awesome, but they would probably try to force too much comedy into it. The funny moments worked well for the books, but not sure about a movie

start reading the lexicanum

Look man, all I'm saying is, if you got a bunch of guardsman or imperial citizenry all of a sudden making up a bunch of different genders and pounding each others cornholes, I'm sure an inquisitor is wont to take notice. That's just screaming demonic influence right there.

You severely overestimate the abundance of Inquisitors or even their interest in a man who insists they’re a woman. Eisenhorn starts the series as an Amalathian Traditionalist (aka, stick to the Creed, by the books good cop) and he notes things like pornography and prostitution aren’t really that big of a deal.

Horus Heresy is the garbage that ruined modern 40k.

>Not liking Uriel Ventris
The scene where he shot the captain of the Unfleshed while saying the Emperor loves you made me shed a few tears.

I like the atmosphere of the early HH books. You're in space, yet you're """narratively""" on another world. It's a comfy feeling when you get yanked back into a starship from off world.

>zapp brannigan
don't you be memeing on me son
I'm 1/3 of the way into a bottle of fireball
don't fuck with me now

explain pls

I thought Ciaphas Cain wasn’t so much a satire as it was a heavy homage to Harry Flashman - you know, the dashing officer who becomes a HERO OF THE EMPIRE simply from being in the right place at the right time?

pls explain
I know nothing other than it

It would be a logistical nightmare if the Imperium cross-analyzed every aspiring rank-and-file guardsman. I'm sure officers and assorted nobility are subjected to higher scrutiny but for non-commissioned ranks the Imperium is happy to take anyone that looks remotely human. Given the prevalence of heresy with the Guard itself, you can bet your ass that dissident and subversive elements within Imperial society can easily make their way into the Guard, either by accident or design.

Except that’s not what happens, it would be one transgender character or a pair of homosexuals.

This is the same setting where Imperial Death Cultists run around slaughtering people in the Emperor’s name wearing little more than a skintight bodysuit that may or may not be exposing her breasts.

No tv show would ever have the budget to faithfully replicate the power armor and xenos.

There's a blood angels captain who gets some chapters that is legit a 40k version of Zapp Brannigan. Not to as high of a comical degree, because he's just supposed to be kind of retarded, but likable at the same time. If you imagine him as Zapp while reading it makes his chapters 10x more fun to read, they're already decent as is.

Explaining the hallowed past of your setting will almost always lead to disappointment. Unless you’re Tolkien, don’t do it. The books make the God-Emperor into a huge cunt.

Which is why they’re doing Eisenhorn. Human foes, most weapons are either blades or ballistics, and the environments are typically urban.

Yeah I mean the whole sex/gender sociological divide doesn't exist in the Imperium as its culture is frozen in a form resembling the middle ages, so that shit doesn't go down provided we ignore the canon 'agendered' tech priest

What do I download? Do I read the whole Horus Heresy?

Most of the Primarchs are pathetic manchilds.

>He believed Arkan Land
>He think he can comprehend the mind of a god
You need to stop repeating these reddit memes. Literally one off comment from a robot and everyone take it like the Bible.

>On a personal opinion level, I don't see how anyone can say the Emperor made bad decisions. He had a plan so complex that human minds can't comprehend it
This is from the chief officer of Horus Heresy lore, Laurie Goulding. Even GW is tired of answering the same question a billion times

just buy the books, they're worth it. especially prospero burns

When you build the core of your setting on a certain myth/epos it's better to leave it mysterious, especially if you're a shit writer. Instead the books go into painful detail into every single thing and tries to make these stoic inhuman primarchs into oh so relatable characters, which is laughable. It's just fucking trash that tries to make one of the most over the top AD 2000 ripoffs into something emotional and "deep".

this quite honestly.
One of the things that hooked me on 40K was the cryptic giger-esque illustrations and short story blurbs of the early rulebooks. Nowadays almost every critical moment in the Imperium's history has an exact timestamp.

Any more info on this movie

Attached: 1477274223395.jpg (343x358, 28K)

I meant you should read the lexicanum wiki to familiarize yourself with the general lore.

But there are tons. I've got that Black Library app on my phone and there are tons and tons and tons of books. Where do I start? Do I just focus on one Chapter/Faction?

White Dwarf usually has a couple enjoyable short stories in each issue.

>It's just fucking trash that tries to make one of the most over the top AD 2000 ripoffs into something emotional and "deep".
None of these "40k fans" have ever heard of AD 2000, they think 40k is the pinnacle of well written sci-fi.

And what then? I know the very basics.

interesting

>Explaining the hallowed past of your setting will almost always lead to disappointment
the hallowed past is all I've to go on, user, so I don't know how to respond.

>The books make the God-Emperor into a huge cunt
I don't think I've made it that far yet. So far he seems just super duper distant.

>It's just fucking trash that tries to make one of the most over the top AD 2000 ripoffs into something emotional and "deep".
Fucking this, 40k is supposed to be hilarious and crazy, instead you have manchildren go into "moral debates" on something that is even below capeshit.

whatever interests you... marine legions and their primarchs or the chaos gods and the world they live in or alien species and their history...

Gotta milk those marginally different 30K figurines!

>All these cumbrains can't comprehend 40k and Horus Heresy
We need to gate-keep this franchise from reaching mainstream. Just look at these retards

I see. Well, I guess I'll have to do some research.

>cumbrains
stop

Case in point

nah start from book 1 and dont stop. I stopped at the 16th book or something like that. was about some assassins sent to kill some vip but my book got destroyed and havnt bothered to rebuy it. That was like 5 years ago :S

>Have one of the most expansive and least restrictive lore in history
>Le big pauldron so funny haha

I guess I'm one of the rare few who couldn't really relate to the more relatable version of the space marines. :(

I enjoy Dredd movies, fwiw. I'm open-minded when it comes to sci-fi. Unless it involves non-mutated wammenz btfoing men, I can usually sustain my disbelief.

alright then
what non-40k, and probably 2000 AD, fantasy world/setting would you suggest I dive into now that I've ruined the 40k mythos for myself?
I feel like that annoying faggot who opens the Revelation in the bible before he reads Genesis. It confuses you the entire time, until you get to the end. Only I don't feel confused, because I've only just barely finished Xenos(EO) and Legion(HH).

sorry if any of this is incoherent
I'm drunk off my ass at the moment

>Fucking this, 40k is supposed to be hilarious and crazy, instead you have manchildren go into "moral debates" on something that is even below capeshit.
This sounds extremely disingenuous and suspiciously like something you just made up inside your head to justify your complaints. Basically you made up a problem that doesn't actually exist.

I've never once heard anybody genuinely try and have philosophical moral debates on 40K. I personally take it in stride and appreciate the narrative being told, and I may entertain some of these "mora debates" in my head, but I don't consider them seriously, I simply use them to further my enjoyment of the universe.

If I'm being honest here, m8, you just sound like an ass.

Anyone entering the franchise with the Horus Heresy books is already doomed to never properly understand what the game and setting is supposed to be about.

I think the Skitarii are great.

The best place to learn 40k is...

It's happening in this very thread right now you clown.

Meant to show my 40k collection but its in storage i guess. Only had my drizzt books with me

god mother fucking dammit son of a bitch mother fuck cunt ass fuck dick fuck son of a bitch REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Case in point again.

you should probably figure out what themes you like reading about. There's everything from detective stories, creation myths and war diaries to daddy issues and conspiracy theories

Where are people genuinely trying to debate morals in good faith and honesty here? Show me the exact posts, because I haven't seen any.

what are you talking about it literally covers the entire base story and explains pretty well the xeno hate

SPEHH MUHREENS!
FIGHTING ORKS!
BUT CHAOS WAS BEHIND IT ALL ALONG!

Oh look, another "40k fan" who doesn't know shit about his own hobby/interest. You never really played the game, HH was your entrance to the franchise, Space Marines are your favorites and you never heard of AD 2000 or Dune, am I correct?

The biggest fumble was not to keep the superior Mechanicum aesthetic for AM in 40k.

Attached: Myrmidon_Secutors_1.jpg (800x420, 134K)

Only weird shit there is the mechanicus boy not outright replacing his weak arm.

You're on Yea Forums dude, most people itt are genuinely underaged.

Thanks for proving his point.

Gender gap isn't that big when you're fighting tyranids. Female guardsmen are literally just more meat for the grinder.

This is what HH does to your franchise, people. Take a good look.

Attached: ExjlV.jpg (1280x1994, 466K)

I like how you dodged the two most important parts of the question and then proved his point with "the romance of men".

fucking cumbrains

what

The point of 40k is to be literally anti-romantic. Almost everything in it is from the point of view of genuine propaganda.

mfw will never get another cain book

Attached: 1555762415872.png (522x561, 444K)

This just means you fell for Chaos propaganda.

that's it?
i suppose it fits 40k, that you are discarded after fighting your entire life but that feels pretty bleak for story to tell

Ok...but what exactly is your point? Just because we the readers are supposed to know it's propaganda does not *necessarily* mean that it *must* be viewed in an intended negative light, no matter how hard the intention may have been. I believe what makes 40K 40K is the freedom of choice, the freedom to abhor the propagandic nature of the setting, or to embrace it wholeheartedly, ironically or genuinely.

What I'm getting from your post is that there is an intended angle of viewership for the setting and it must only be viewed through that angle and no other, and others that don't are somehow inferior fans. I'm not entirely sure you truly thought out your opinion on this subject here.

It's the gun speaking user.

As much I'd like it to have bigger appeal, I don't think girls like 40k very much, since by it's very core it's only appealing to men

>that
>kino
real life is soul crushing enough and you leave me with this
of all things, this?!!!!

The twist is that this is from the perspective of the gun. Think about how many items you throw away in your life, never think about what it did for you.

This is just my autism but in a sense, it also makes you feel current gun owners in negative light. You had a tool for killing but you deny it of the meaning of its own existence. You are a cruel god to your gun like the Omnissiah to his own subjects

it's just plaster pistol, it's not sentient you twat

This. The best and only good books that come from 40k are from the perspectives of regular men. It gives everything else that huge and terrifying scale. Any book written from the perspective of a space marine for example is fucking boring because they have hardly any personality beyond living to kill things and being too badass to care

Imagine the Star Wars prequels stretched into 20+ books detailing every retarded event that happened.

It's fucking annoying.

It's the Machine Spirit. Only bandwagoners like you don't know about this. Weapons have souls and wills of their own.

>This is just my autism but in a sense
>it also makes you feel current gun owners in negative light.
>You had a tool for killing but you deny it of the meaning of its own existence
>You are a cruel god to your gun like the Omnissiah to his own subjects
what the hell?
the tears
they shall not fall,
yet they do
my soul....

I hope to see an adaptation of the Deathwatch novel, the tyranid birthing nest scene in particular.

machine spirit is just ai you twat, and not found in less sophisticated devices

what's special in it?

isn't the average lifespan of guardsmen 15 hours?

I forgot weapons in 40k are semi-sentient.

Attached: 1447160030698.jpg (599x599, 64K)

have them appear in the darkest, most hopeless point as the living saints of the emperor that they are, and completely and effortlessly just ROTFL CURBSTOMP the Xenos, and tell the Guardsmen, "IN THE EMPERORS NAME! THESE XENOS SHALL NOT INSULT HIS HOLY IMPERIUM ONE MORE MOMENT! Leading into the Commissar getting a boner to the point that the Guard buttfucks the AYYYYYYS souls.

>for the xenos it was the greatest beating and defeat their proud and ancient race has ever known
>for the ADEPTUS ASTARTES IT WAS JUST ANOTHER SLOW AND LAZY TUESDAY IN THE HOLY GOD EMPEROR OF MANKINDS SERVICE.

Bruce Campbell is still spry enough to do it.

A replacement guardsman. Once past 15 hours you have a decent shot of surviving past that.

cringe

>imperium of man
>AI

>Machine spirits are just AI
Absolutely not. This is another reddit meme from TTS that is repeated too often. Not everything have souls but a large amount of machine do. There is ships captured by the Death Guard, it slows down against the enemy captain's command and makes so many risky maneuvers that the enemies have no choice but to scuttle it. There is a tank that went out on a killing spree until it ran out of ammo and then trapped as many enemies as it can then detonate because its crews were killed. There is lasgun that jammed itself because its was aimed at its owner. And lasguns are physically impossible to jam. A bolter is an extremely advance device. Even its bullets have better guidance system than all the ICBMs on Earth

your cringe was far more cringe than that cringe.

*cringe*

>jewlywood

imperium of man is so crippled that they literally dont invent anything, they just hope they get lucky and find machines that build shit for you
Their intellectual class had to wait for fucking primarch to show up before they could launch primaris because they knew rest of the imperium was so retarded that they'd been brandished as heretics for launching something that didn't come from machine that builds it for you, as long you throw enough junk at it
Machine spirit is just shitty ai

Attached: ..png (768x406, 54K)

>don't invent anything
Cawl just invented 2 new organs for the Space marine. And the Imperium made a lot of new and advance classes of tanks and ships that are better than their 30k counterparts. Chaos have to offset it by buffing their wargears with Warp.

And you can't just repeating the same sentence as an argument. Machine spirit is confirmed to be vague by the BL. Some are mistaken but others are unquestionably true.

This isn't as bad as Honsou rape's planet

I made that point, that they had to wait for primarch to tell rest of the retardium, that it was okay to invent shit

Though I'm willing to give you, that some machines have souls, but not a plaster pistol

cringe

Anything set in the Farsight enclaves,
Eisenhorn is pretty good though.

Attached: Gue'vesa Riven.jpg (564x777, 40K)

But you just discounted dozens of new ships and tanks. And you can't use your own argument as fact. At least give evidence. I feel like I am arguing with a bot

that's good too but less hot

Attached: Astra Militarum.jpg (700x703, 105K)

>glorified half dead demon prince on a throne
>mutants everywhere called imperiums finnest soldiers
destruction of this heretic empire is in the best intrest of the based inqusition

You have quite strict process, that could last hundreds of years before new stuff could be used and produced, iirc marines used some tank version they discovered for close to thousand years before it was approved by w/e ministrum
Even with primarch the astartes are throwing hissy fits about primaris marines, let alone the religious orders. You really don't think that retardium wasn't crippled by that, ie not inventing anything because you were deemed heretic or at better cases a rogue

They just got hover tank. And it is not from Cawl. They just don't have the industrial base to build new one for everyone because the other will throw a shit fit if they don't get one. And progress is dangerous. The Dark Gods actively hamper it. If you discover a new cure your planet will be steamrolled by Nurgle's Legion tomorrow. The Imperium has better guns and tanks than the Russ and lasguns but they stick with those because it can be made by Industrial England and not Forgeworld alone

And the religious extremist are quite right. They have saints and angels slaying demons left and right. And if it wasn't for that little girl saving Guilliman he would have been chopped up by Mortarion. If you an atheist in 40k verse, you are deluded.

I think the Imperium runs on If it ain't broke, why fix it mentality.

>Tau

For a blue faggot chapter with an 800$ budget, that film was breddy gud

Part of the joke is that in any other setting, Cain would genuinely be the hero he’s made out to be.
The fact he’s not a suicidal, team killing retard is what makes him suffer from false hero syndrome, since that’s the precise standard the Imperium holds up.
I also like that the Cain series is one of the few that shows how horrifying it would be to have Orks occupy a normal world, despite how wacky they normally are.

An Imperial Guard series would be kino

Protagonist is a weak human we can sympathise with in a weak and idealistic faction which is trying to bring peace and equality to everyone in the galaxy.

Realism dictates that they have to find a new main character for every episode though

The techpriests of Mars will literally skullfuck you for blaspheming the holy Machine Spirit like that.

Cato sicarius is always an asshole

40K is about space and psychic mutants and shit.

Lmao

Scifi-LOTR really. And everyone dies just cause.

Yep, mechanicum looks fucking great.

Is the series over? I just finished the first book.

He hasnt published any more books in a few years i believe

Do you think there might be some incel nerds itt?

>lotr

It is nothing like lotr. The only thing I can think of is Eldar looking similar to the popular depiction of Tolkien elfs and Orks having a similar name to Orc.

Technically its Dune with Moorcock, Starship Troopers and Tolkien, plus some Terminator, Gundam, Judge Dredd thrown in for flavour.

The guard is only interesting to mil enthusiasts. War move in space is a good way to tank the franchise before you start because vwar movies aren't big anymore.

Needs space Marines or fuck off

I think you can do both. Do institutional stuff mixed with lower grades of wars, for example Inquisitorial detective political thriller that heats up halfway through with Guardsmen brought in to quash a hive city in rebellion, bring both story lines together with the reveal of a genestealer cult behind both the intrigue among the nobility and unrest in the hive. That way you show both the minor and macro aspects of the setting and can focus on what you wish with any subsequent story arcs.

I would like this. For lack of a better comparison I think the Expanse handled the juggling between micro and macro pretty well

>Nothing like it
>Points out things just like it.

They should really just go all out and make an anime or something that embraces the Super/Real robot Tau ascetic.

Sexy Amazon space marines

it has space travel too so it's also describable as Star Wars then, right?

Space marines are better as cameos or support characters, since they are usually boring as fuck as characters.

It's an Inquisitor, not guardsman

Also a guardsman movie would be fucking great. Remember the absolute bloodshed that was Starship Troopers? Something like that could easily be made much more darker and much more grander

No such thing as half-Jewish. They're Jew.

There were those about some traitor chapter. They weren't chaos but cursed or were getting corrupted or something. Those were pretty good.

Why does it have to be Imp focused?
It could jump between perspectives and factions, like in the Expanse.

Attached: The way it will have to be, in the end..jpg (500x808, 105K)

Wanted to say the same thing.

Watching an entire kino war movie season then at the end you some space marines saving the day. That would be awesome.

I dunno, the Tanith First & Only are kinda celtic mary sues with their epic camouflage and infiltration skills.

> likes something until more than three other people like it

i don't think "fan" is the word you're groping for, there.

He published one last year, user

It's not dead men walking though

The problem is that the retarded neckbearded fanbase hates the Tau, not enough "muh grimduhk" for them.

Women die just the same as men in 30k/40k

40k just needs to survive another decade for all the wokera shit to blow over before anyone thinks about adapting it.

>wokera shit blowing over

>ending scene after the guardsmen have held on juuuust long enough for reinforcements, is space marine drop pods hurtling towards the battlefield
Optional plot twist:
>it's chaos marines

>namefag

fuck off back to /m/

Don't be mean. She could even have an expy in the coming Eisenhorn show.

Alternative plot twist:
>space marines drop
>fight back the enemy
>recover some artifact
>evacuate in a hurry
>exterminatus the whole place

Kek that's even better and far more accurate
>triple twist
>the marines are the gray knights, hence why they have to exterminatus after they are done

I want a mary sue Grey Knights movie. As far as I'm concerned all other chapters and factions within the Imperium are borderline blasphemous.

So it's over in 30 seconds?

it fits

Already happened, authors confirmed indeed Jews. Responsible for Man in the high castle. Pure cohencidence ofc

It's for kids, calm your tits. And the diversity rogue trader is just normal 80s stuff.

Disgusting

as if you wont see the crazy shit. if its a first movie about warhammer, the imperial guardsman is a good insert and baseline from which to gauge just how insane the universe is

Well no need to worry friend

This is terribly written sappy saccharine garbage

It honestly just sounds like a teenage girl wrote it.

Its high fantasy.
In space.
In the future.
And grimdark.

>wanting tolkein shit

Fuck off, 40k is at least shit we havnt seen 600 times

It's more that most of the BL authors have no idea how to write a Spess Mehreen

It's gonna be complete shit, isn't it? Also Space Marines are barely human anymore. It'd be like The Phantom Menace all over again with blocky emotionless supersoldiers.

All Guardsman Party kino

females cant be inquisitors, thats like saying females can be bishops

Been listening to the audio books at work. They are pretty good books to read for fun. Nothing spectacular but entertaining.
The audiobooks are probably weaker due to male voice actors speaking female characters dialogue (G.W. pay some lady 500 bucks to speak the 800 lines of dialogue in the books god damn) but otherwise they are fun.

I just finished Eisenstein but they were solid.

not grim dark enough? The Tau is literally North Korea but with Gundams. Everyone is LITERALLY brainwashed to serve a shadow council and they worship a guy who got assassinated millenium ago

whats wokera about 40k? Those kid comics arent canon and black space marines have always been a thing

The Tau are clearly CHYNA

China is too disorganized to be the Tau. Everyone still does what they want even if the government still controls everything.

hello arch

It's still the image of China. Same as in C&C generals. Collectivism, hivemind, oarda

Better example is Imperial Japan.

That's retarded, Space Marines are too fanatical to be caught alive like this by random scavengers and the protection of the gene seed is a mission into itself.

The Space Marine is dead, the narrator is the gun's machine spirit

I just want a movie about hive gangs. You can have an Inquisitor or a Deathwatch team show up, but the movie should be about struggling to survive in a society that doesn't care about you.

Attached: w40 IRON WITHIN.png (967x481, 574K)

Not at all. Not materialistic enough and no Kamikaze culture, also there was no caste system in IJ.

Wrong. Well, kind of. Most Guard regiments are held to a relatively high standard, although there are of course some that prefer quantity over quality. A typical guardsman has gone through training that puts any modern military to shame in it's brutality and efficiency. It's just the sad fact that what they face tends to eat through ordinary human beings like cookies, so IG tend to seem like absolute dogshit, when in fact they're punching far out of their league.

>Machine spirits are real and not just propoganda
Nani? I mean that makes sense re-reading this, but I thought machine spirits were just minor forms of AI you found in Titans

Judge Dredd is already a thing my dude, why not show the more unique parts of 40k off instead?

He's saying it's going to get wokera'd. Pretty much anything made in currentyear is going to be dated trash in a decade that'll will make a normie cringe.

It should start mid war of a Space Marine.

Machine spirits are random fragments of AI that end up in anything electronic because the AdMech don't really know what they're doing. When they do the equivalent of installing firmware and device drivers, they basically pour a bunch of code into the machine until it works, except they don't really understand what any specific part of it does and their code base is fragmented and corrupted with bits of the original AIs that turned against humanity and caused the Dark Age of Technology, as well as the human-friendly AIs that were 'killed'. The other part is the general superstition involved in the ritualised maintenance of any kind of technology - you oil your gun (while chanting prayers) to keep the machine spirit happy so it doesn't jam.

I feel like I'm never going to fully understand the depth of the Mechanics lore. There's just too much. So their rituals actually do communicate with the random AI's they've implanted into their weaponry? I've thought for the few years I've been trying to get into 40k lore that it was a totally inane process and that machine spirits were just superstition outside of higher grade tech

What? There was a rigid caste system in Japan, the materialist culture is very much alive, and the Tau are willing to sacrifice themselves the moment an Ethereal asks them.

>materialist culture
>willing to die on a word from the dear leader

Is Tau korea best korea?

The Adeptus Mechanicus are my favourite part of the setting, particularly the machine spirits are a neat pseudo-animist concept I've never really seen in any other scifi.

Second is probably all the 'utility' psyker stuff like the Telepathica choirs.

Attached: Adeptus Astra Telepathica.jpg (720x413, 49K)

Even better, make it a single space marine, to show how much fucking damage they can do. Make it an unwinnable situation for this squad or two of guard left to defend some 10,000 year old cathedral, against a hundred or so tyranids, chaos cultists, or orks: an insurmountable number, for these men - have one space marine drop in and lolstomp them. At the end when all the guard left alive are wondering what great hero of the imperium this space marine is, be it a captain or a chapter master, it’s revealed that he’s a newly initiated private and this was his first mission.

Yes, their rituals do in fact communicate with the rudimentary AIs that are present in their gear. It’s why Principes need powerful wills to link with a Titan’s God-Machine, and how Land Raiders can operate for days, completing their mission.

Personally? I’d look at Machine-Spirits less as actual AI and more like... Fairies. They’re pixies and gremlins and domovoi that accept offerings of oil and lubricant in exchange for service. It’s meant to harken to the old Medieval beliefs in such things and the ways people would appease them.

Also, Tau have something called Engrams, which are uploaded brains they can download into other people and effectively “rebirth” the digital brain. Have a great hero you want to lead a Sphere? Implant their uploaded brain chip into a Tau and they will take over the Tau’s body.

Sharpe in WH40K is always a worthy read.

Attached: wtf sharpe.gif (250x158, 897K)

Gosh, it really is Sharpe, isn’t it?

>Gaunt’s Ghosts is Sharpe’s Rifles
>Ciaphas Cain is Harry Flashman
>Eisenhorn is James Bond

Captains believed Fulgrim was daemon-possessed. They tortured him with a Pear of Anguish. Fun times were had.

Just copy the pacing of the LoTR films. the correct formula already exists.
Big historical/rebellion battle

this but darker

How are space marines this OP though? They have genetic modifications and all that shit but their weaponry seems kinda basic.

Kino. I plan on crying when the Boromir analogue dies redeeming himself after being tempted by darkness and then shares a heartfelt final word with his Captain.

Their basic firearm is an automatic rocket launcher and they have access to heavy weapons normally found as the primary armament of tanks. Also, monomolecular chainsaw swords, high-frequency blades and plasma guns.

The boltgun is literally a 75 caliber grenade launcher which fires uranium core explosive ammunition at the speed of modern bullets, their armor is like, 9 inches thick, and they’re strength is insane. There’s loads of canonical examples of single space marines taking out scores of enemy baddies effortlessly, like in the novel “brothers of the snake”

That actually sounds based as fuck. A scout squad would also be good along with some throwaway line about how they haven't earned their armor yet.

>fucking joakero destroys necrons with madeup stuff
why GW never released any other xeno army?
>inb4
I know, but let me dream

The YouTube series “Astartes” does a fantastic job at portraying Space Marines, besides being a technical marvel made by one professional animator. Highly recommended.

The Phantom Menace was not that bad.

>they hire all female #metoo team of writers to make one
easy fix, they have to said that are slaaneshi low profile adoctrination

Better than the sequels by a longshot but one of the things people shit on it for were wooden performances from the jedi, the kid and the queen. They're making a movie for the paste-eating masses, not nerd kino.

I don't get it

What happened to him?

Agreed. My favorite element of the machine spirit is that, due to Mankind's sincere belief in their existence, and the presence of the Warp, they actually did become real. But they only became real when enough believed that they were. You would have been a superstitious idiot to think they existed in the year 30k, or 25k, but in 40k, you would be an idiot to think they don't.

PRAISE THE OMNISSIAH!

Attached: CutestMechanicus.jpg (1240x942, 54K)

That’s not exactly how it works, collective belief producing tangible results only works for the Ork and, even now, they’re trying to downplay the Ork Waaagh’s effect. The Machine Spirit is a collection of firmware, software and a minor AI roughly analogous to a squirrel or dog. The Spirit is an inferior Soul, the Men of Iron had souls and that’s why they got corrupted.

The fact that we can argue over it's nature honestly makes it far more interesting than it being definitely warp beliefs or old ai firmware fragments. Perhaps it's some combination of the two. If AI's have souls that would mean they have a presence in the Warp.
