Captain EO was good because Michael Jackson actually put effort into the whole thing and really made the production shine. In the 1980s when it came out it was a really entertaining 4-d film.
Even when Disneyland re-introduced it in 2010 for a few years after his death it still aged well simply because it was "retro" and you could forgive some of the cheesy 80s graphics.
