Will 3D movies ever make a comeback?

It seems like Hollywood has written off 3D as a dead format.

it is a dead format

It was always shit. 4k/hdr is the new meme. Then 8k, then 12bpc.

What are you talking about? Every second movie released in my country is 3D and movies like Alita are the reason 3D won't die anytime soon.

its ok at the cinema , but its a cunt for home viewing because of the tv, monitor, projector &, glasses, VR, 3d capable player reqirements.

Idk, i have a 3D tv and player but nobody else seems to. Also, Alita is amazing in 3D.

3D is a meme and I'm glad it's dead again.

Yes, and hopefully it will stay that way.

I've never seen a 3D movie and why the fuck would I?
Sitting in a theatre with goofy fucking glasses on to watch some half baked kids movie, nah fuck off.

You sound like a child desu

Its pretty immersive.

3D works only at home when you have a projector. I once tested some 3D televisions on electronic shops and they all sucked. To truly enjoy 3D, a big screen is the only way.

Indeed, Alita won't make a comeback for a sequel, ever.

You're killing me bro. Stuck in 2015 or something. The last generation of 3D home viewing is pretty amazing. The glasses are rechargable and super thin now

it's p dead

I have a 3D tv and watch 3D movies. It's chill. Had the Alita 4K/3D release preordered and it rules.

Thanks for reading!

perhaps all the Avatars that jimbos making will cause it to pick up again.

Zemeckis made a 3D Drama. Scorcese of all people made a 3D kids film.

it will be back once it can be viewed at home without glasses. cameron is working on it as we type.

The hype will return for Avatar 2 and they will sell very expensive tickets to beat Endgame

That technology has existed for years, its just that no one is adopting it.

Avatar had a gimmick. ( New 3d technology)
I don't see the sequel doing much better then Alita.
The hype is gone.

I hope Avatar 2 would bring back 3D while Alita will bring with it more demand for 3D at home.
James Cameron is the king of 3D.

Another thing that would've sold more 3D TVs is if Nintendo made a consolized version of the New 3DS which plugs to your TV, think of it like Nintendo's answer to the PlayStation TV which is a consolized PS Vita.
To use the bottom screen, however, you need to sync it up with either a Switch or a Wii U Gamepad.
This consolized 3DS (maybe called the 3DS TV) would come with a Wii U Gamepad.
Imagine playing Ocarina of Time on a huge OLED in 3D, or A Link Between Worlds in 3D.
3D TVs would've made a comeback if Nintendo did this.
Too bad the 3DS is now knocking on death's door and Nintendo didn't do this when they had the chance.

Such a shame that LG has yet to make a gigantic, glasses-free 8K 3D OLED TV.
That would be expensive but it would be worth every damn penny.
Even better, they can implement glasses-free 3D on all of their OLEDS.

I miss the old red and blue gimmicky 3D where every 15 minutes or so something would pop out at your face. 3D nowadays is just splitting the foreground from the background. Every time I see a 3D movie I'm disappointed. Spy Kids did it right.

Damn I didn't realize Alita was real 3D. I suppose I should have known.

>thinking people will buy more people because of the sequel to the second highest grossing (formerly highest grossing) film of all time and outdated bing bing wahoo
