I don't know if it's acting ability or being able to pick/write the better roles for themselves. Shortfat is alwasy the more memorable character and tallslim is almost always the boring straightman. Sometimes they are both deadpan and sometimes they are both silly but it's like a 95/5 split with shortfat playing straight the 5.

So I guess the question is more how do they pick the role? Is it based on who wrote what or do they run through both in rehearsals and choose that way? Food for thought and something that is always interesting to ponder when it comes to sketch shows.

I think in any shortfat/tallslim duo, the shortfat being the angry/eccentric/hyperactive one just tends to work out better. A fat manlet chimping out is just inherently funnier than a tall skinny guy going it.
