Very good movie. Very good soundtrack. Instant classic. It's like Jurassic Park (I don't care which one is better), it's got a unique feel to it that just sticks in your head forever.

Agreed. Its has achieved cult classic status after all. Also this is how you do the Spielberg/Lucas style of adventure movies, the right way. The right balance of comedy action and romance. It's tricky to pull off, and this one pulls it off flawlessly. The right dialogues for the right cast, the cool action scenes with the cool money shots, and a basic solid script and director who focuses on doing well what he can. This Mummy has it all.

Love it. One of my top 5 films really. It has laughs, action. Perfect rip-snorting adventure, and while it lags a little in the midgame. Water turning to blood, fire from the sky and the eclipse all happen rather fast, it serves to settle us in for the next tier of threat.
Everything was where it needed to be, we had a tight enough plot, Jonathan for our comedic relief and Imhotep's motivations are clear and uncomplicated. He wants to become whole again and resurrect that glistening, gods-blessed desert ass

It's mind boggling that they DIDN'T make a Phantom sequel considering Billy Zane was in Titanic the next year.

Speaking of old pulp adaptations, what did you think of The Spirit? I loved Sin City but Frank Miller (who co-Directed SC with Robert Rodriguez) really fucked up that movie while SC's aesthetics didn't suit that comic. Ironically it looked the way a Max Payne movie should have looked and makes me think Miller would have been a great choice for that!!!FACT!!!

Because he relies of fucking awful cartoonish CGI for his monsters. Back then it was fine for set extensions and other things but he should have used an animatronic Mummy for anything waist up and CGI for full body shots. Then he went full-retard with it on The Mummy Returns and lost his fucking mind with Van Helsing while G.I. Joe was utter fucking trash!!!FACT!!!
