I just think it blends in to the background better, if that makes sense. I don't watch a bunch of white objects sitting around the room that stand out to the eyes. I disagree with the guy who said black shows more dirt and fingerprints. I did once have a white laptop, and it was filthy. Compared to my last two that were dark blue and black, you can't see the dirt on those. The thought of sitting using a white laptop makes me cringe.

But then again I do have some mental problems.

Dust and fingerprints are not dark. Everyone in their right mind knows that dusts shows up on darker objects easier, user... Black marks wouldn't be a problem if being careful and not somehow scuffing your shit up. What do you do, kick your shoes up on white products?

Nah it's to do with the reflective qualities. Actual dirt shows up better on a white surface, sure, but all the dirt that you usually can't see, like grease from your fingertips, will show up much better on a gloss black. Think about the front of your phone with the screen off vs., say, the lid of a macbook.
