Only Chandler makes a living for the first 3 seasons

It's a studio, not a real apartment.
someone wrote them a fat checkem every week
joey sold all his hot meals
its all happening in 20 days period
Sitcoms normally have 25 episode seasons so i always like to think we see one day every 2 weeks, as a season normally spans a year
NYC didn't really explode in price until the late 90's.
Hell during the 70-80's you could live there fairly cheap.
>walk in and you're already in the kitchen
is this an american thing?
The big main apartment we always see was an inheritance from Monica and Ross from their rich Jewish grandmother. Monica, Ross and Rachel were all from very affluent Jewish doctor households. This is referenced many times throughout the series.
Ross also had a very good wage as a professor and lived alone.
Rachel always kinda mooched of of Monica. And because the apartment was Monica's property it made sense.
Joey always mooched of of Chandler, who made a good living.
Wasn't it rent controlled?
This is the apartment of a god
Who is this
they were all prostitutes.
Yeah, and the actual apt. building was supposed to be run down with all the tenants being poor assholes and the landlord too
What the fuck does he mean when he says its on the cantilever?
how could they afford a permanently reserved spot at a restaurant
>4 bathrooms
Ted Mosby is relentlessly handsome. I want to kiss him relentlessly.
It honestly looks very comfy.
3 1/2 bath.
Whats weird is that the two master suites don't have their bathrooms on the same wet wall.
Like these set designers didn't think about practicality at all.
the "?" room, is Monica's junk room, it is revealed in one episode and it is basically just a horder-room.
It was so stocked up with items that you couldn't see any depth in the room, so i suppose that is were the question mark comes from, that the room is of unknown size.
Chandlers rich and Moincas apartment was rent controlled from because it was sti under he grandmas name
Don’t even go down the rabbit hole with this chick.
Actors can make decent money though. One commercial gig can pay 20k for a year. That's one gig too. A soap could pay 2k per episode and they often do 5 episodes per week, so that's 40k a month.
rent control they were probably paying the same rent as someone in 1920 was paying
Studio apartment
Better than my flat in London I had in the 90s' my kitchen would of been a small closet in the States.
Thanks I always wondered how they had it.
Something that sticks out supported only on one end.. see pic for cantilever balconies.
Yeah, but why would you say that when you're telling people where you live?
Because not everyone is fucking stupid
Only realistic sitcom apartment?
That's not realistic at all.
its tiny
Yeah but I was talking about the many episodes before Joey gets the Days of Ours Lives gig. There's multiple episodes where Chandler talks about helping out Joey out financially.
Seems a bit small for the captain's quarters.
user DON'T DO IT. WHITE CHICKS ARE CRAZY
Because it's a tv show ya dip.
For Manhattan that's a good sized 1B1B. Comparatively ample living space. Can't imagine what the rent would be these days.
rent free
Based and Couchpilled
user, i've got some bad news for you, it's a TV show. It's not real, it'll be alright, take a moment to catch your breath
I thought there was tons of room behind their recliners and foosball table?
Patrician af
What is a wet wall?
Huge by NYC standards
$1400 a month plus utilities.
A wall that you have pipes running in.
They also have a balcony.
Drugs money.
Okay now I definitely need to know
to freak them out?
to make them realize you live on the edge?
it also freaks me out that his work desk is not facing the door, thats a danger for his security.
