THE THING
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is great, but it's not better than the first film.
I wouldn't really consider Season of the Witch a sequel, but it's definitely one of the top three Halloween films in the franchise.
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. In-fact the first six sequels after the first were better, but Final Chapter was always my favorite.
Everyone ITT is based and redpilled
Was this the one with the mask factory? I actually enjoyed that one too
I fucking loved this so much
no tcm 2 is fun but the original is a horror masterpiece
doesn't hold a candle
Only ever seen little bits of the 'normal' halloween films but this one is a fucking classic. It's comfy as fuck for some reason.
Sure it does, you're just nostalgiafagging
Same with the people that "hated" the Ringu remake, when it's clearly superior
Actually, it's The Town that Dreaded Sundown. Also, is it the original or remake?
It's fucking dreadful lmao. The first is amazing though.
It scratches all my favorite horror movie itches:
>death cult
>creepy town with hidden secrets
>conspiracies to commit mass destruction
>feelings of isolation
>technology merging with witchcraft
>alcoholic womanizing hero
This film was great. It wasn't even a reboot, there was a crossover planned initially with her and Ash.
The lightling effects didn't age well
Easy
came here to post this. easiest answer
I think John Carpenter originally wanted the Halloween sequels to be completely different but was forced to make 2 about Michael Myers. He got enough pull for 3 to be completely different (he didn't direct it, but he was still involved I think), but since everyone hated it at the time they went right back to Myers.
This is the only correct answer.
sure
I just watched the new remake. It's surprisingly good!
your life in comparison to your parents' was definitely more of a horror show
That detective was kinda stupid. It was obvious those homicides had only one connection. He could have find out sooner and his mother would live.
>it's an american shilling his terrible remakes of foreign movies
>That girl who spends all of five minutes in the quarantine zone before fucking it, and potentially the rest of Europe, up forever.
This movie was infuriating.
I've seen more foreign movies than you, horror or not, and I'm not even American
I can understand the need for a strawman but honestly it doesn't apply
When you get out of the mentality that "remake bad" (which in 99.9% of the cases is true) you might actually appreciate that 0.1% remake that isn't
You are correct. It was intended to be an anthology with each film being an entirely different story based on the idea or took place on Halloween. However, this came to an end when they were forced to market Season of the Witch as a sequel adding the "III" in the title which confused and drove people away in '82 who were expecting Myers. This direction was always more interesting than basing the entire franchise on Myers.
Carpenter's close friend Tommy Lee Wallace directed and wrote it. Carpenter, however still produced and provided the music which is his best in my opinion
Fag. T1 was a sci-fi/horror classic. T2 was a generic as fuck action movie. Not even remotely horror
It was based though
The OST for H3 is indeed spectacular.
2 is a guilty pleasure of mine
Sequels I enjoy as much as the original.
>psycho 2
>tremors 2
>dawn of the dead
Contrarian hipster.
Just saw the new huge arrow box set of the whole franchise in a store yesterday. Is it worth it to spend 80$ on this?
I know who you are.
If you're up for spending that kind of money sure, all five movies are fantastic.
Okay fine maybe the first one is kinda weak, but they get better.
80$ seems a bit much for a blind buy for me. Maybe I'll get the first one and decide after that. The House Blu Ray set looks great as well!
unironically
you know its true
I might get disagreements on this, but it was better in more ways than the previous first installment.
Yeah, it's pretty great. It's the only film I hope to see on tv around halloween these days.
It also has the breeziest making of series in horror. Never Sleep Again goes by so fast.
The fun is that it was filmed as a direct continuation of the previous story, but distributors wanted it to be a standalone movie, so Raimi filmed a prologue in wich Ash is re-introducted as a new character, even with the same name (and face, albeit older)
No.
It's a remake, not a sequel
Technically it isn't a sequel, the events are parallel to the Night of The Living Dead
The Nightmare saga ends with this movie, the second one isn't bad, it's just the weak one, but it has some interesting concepts
Very good flick, the first one is more weird than horror
The thing "2" is a prequel not a remake
But it is better. The sets are better, the setpieces are better, the final girl has better legs, and it has Dennis Hopper duelling Leatherface with chainsaws in it. It is better by every conceivable metric.
I LIE AWAKE
Nah, 2 is easily the best in the series. 1 is fine, the rest suck.
The Final Chapter pretty much has the right mix of everything you expect out of a Friday the 13th movie.
7 was better then 1 also.
I thoroughly enjoy Dream Warriors, but I still prefer the original movie because Dream Warriors started the jokey Freddy trend. The movie's way more balanced than the ones that followed, though.
I enjoy it (and 4) more then the first they aren't more competently made.
Agreed.
>The Nightmare saga ends with this movie, the second one isn't bad, it's just the weak one, but it has some interesting concepts
Nah 4 is decent and NewNightmare is near great.
I like how they didnt spill the beans on the who’s the killer early on like the first one.
I liked how they had a film class on why horror movies sequels are a sack of shit in the first 10 mins
Get in here for Stir of Echoes kino
diggingkino
Nope. That movie sucked elephant cock.
Prove me wrong nigga.
It was fucking great contrarian faggot
Based. The perfect F13 movie.
My nigga. If it wouldn't have carried the Halloween tag, it would be a classic. Also, fuck Myers fans, a Halloween anthology series would have been kino.
Yup. I done said it.
a couple of the puppet masters are definitely better than the first. including the latest one.

>no gremlins 2
y'all fuckin up
LOL THESE MOVIES ARE SOOOOO RANDUMB XDD
Fuck. Was just about to post that.
Son of the Mask (2005)
>tfw third installment is a top 50 movie of all time
which ending is kino?
which is canon?
Are you me?
Day of the Dead>Dawn of the Dead
I immediately stopped watching that shit when the building maintenance worker somehow had a keycard to not only access the makeshift American base, but quarantine, and not a single person alive saw him.
I liked how Randy, the supposed film geek, got the Aliens quote wrong.
It maybe started the goofball freddy trend but second movie was the real joke.
This post pisses me off to galactic levels.
Still better than 4 (which I kinda like), 5, and 6.
Dream Warriors is fun & all, but the original Nightmare is an objectively better horror film.
based
I don't understand why people love to shit all over Day
I wouldn't say it's better but I still absolutely love it
Quick rundown on this one. How does it compare to the first one?
Is this the one with Viggo Mortensen in it?
S-Mart Ending is both.
I never saw the S-Mart ending until last year. The real ending is kino, but the theatrical ending is canon (and still great)
It's a bad movie
There's a huge clue on who did it within like the first five minutes if you're paying attention.
It's rare to come across such a wise and based post.
I've only seen 2 (Amazon only has that and 3 for some reason), but it was damn fun.
Lol I thought this was the god tier movie poster thread.
