2014>2019. The human elements of kotm were no better than 2014. At least 2014 had that slow buildup and treated godzilla like a natural disaster. The way they cut the fights in kotm sucked ass. King Ghidorah can't destroy a fucking truck? At least we saw military people kill kaiju babies in 2014 during the fights. While in kotm we cut to people running around for the orca.

2014 is boring to watch, I'd rather watch KotM a thousand times than having to sit through 2014 again.
The first 20 or so minutes of 2014 are great, good acting, dramatic buildup and a nice plot, but then we have the kick ass jew running from A to B to C to D and it just gets really old very fast.

There are two memorable moments in 2014. Godzilla's reveal (nearly an hour in) and the female muto kiss of death. Arguably better scenes than most of 2019 set pieces but still that's at best 5 minutes of a 2hr movie.

No bait here, I really love kaijushit. What I expected from thst fight was a buildup to Rodan gathering all the planes together, and then going supersonic by clapping his wings together killing eveyone. But in the movie he just does it and is quickly glossed over and dwarfed by King Ghidorah.

Surely anybody close enough to witness the event with their own eyes would be killed by the force it would generate.

I hope we get Buzzsaw Chicken next.

I loved the Rodan air battle. There were other weird scenes worth noting. King Ghidorah's autistic left head (Kevin) gets a smack down from the center head for eating downed people instead of keeping up the fight.
I'll find those scenes and make webms, but it will take a few minutes. It is to hot to be outside today anyway.

Building MechaGodzilla should be its own movie. You can do so many interesting things with it. But it's just going to materialize out of thin air, like Frozen Ghidorah.

First half of the movie was pretty good but then they took too long with the whole reviving Godzilla plot and it got really boring, only getting better when ghidorah showed up again.

When the first inklings of Shin were coming out it looked like it was hinting that it was the first Goji someone resurrected after the oxygen destroyer got him. I still think that could've been better but then we wouldn't have the extremophile slant that ended up working pretty well.

Monsterverse Gigan would probably approach lovecraftian horror with their realistic designs. I always respected Spacegodzilla for being the one of the only kaiju with a plan, kidnapping your rivals child.

Yeah, I expected it to actually have decent kaiju action for one thing. I thought that was going to be its whole appeal, to jettison the boring human subplot shit and focus on the fights. They couldn't even do that right. Any cool moment or shot was already in the trailers.

The movie constantly cuts to humans, there's never just 10 minutes of pure fighting like in other Godzilla films

nigger the entire brawl at the end, the one we spend the whole film waiting for, is ruined by repeatedly cutting back to that stupid girl's predicament in a bathtub while her faggot parents try to find her. And we don't even miss much. There's very little physical combat between Ghidorah and Zilla before they resort to CGI-blasting each other, and that's how it ends.
See Pacific Rim's hong kong setpiece for an example of how to do kaiju combat right (or at least better). Unfortunately the mexican fatass couldn't keep that same standard during the final battle.

Honestly, I would be okay with that as long as you could roughly see the fighting going on. Done well, it's an effective way of cutting CGI costs while still delivering cool visuals and fights.
KOTM did not do it well, partly because of the cutaways and partly because the action just isn't very interestingly done.

2014 final kaiju fight was spread incredibly thin. we spend more time watching humans in that than in kotm.

In fairness I think Skull Island legitimately had better Kaiju fight scenes but more boring Kaiju to work with. More importantly daylight fight scene with clear choreography. I pray gvk has a full fight that's actually visible and prolonged like pacific rim.

The only good moment was the Rodan reveal and chase. The rest was crap...would it of been so hard for them to pull back and have a nice wide shot of the action? Nearly everything was done via low close ups (from the humans perspective) but it wasnt immersive..impressive looking. Just a bunch of CG elements being thrown about (much like Hollywood Transformers trash) as a Zilla fan It was a disappointing experience. For all of Shin's faults..Anno knew how to shoot an action sequence and give it gravitas.
