Number two

I still don't get how this film generated so much dosh while also having zero cultural impact or longevity.

because it was a cinematic event that had to be seen during a limited time
>zero cultural impact or longevity.
you mean no forced twitter memes?

Fat

>you mean no forced twitter memes?
No. I've never met anything close to what would be considered an Avatar fanboy and even a fandom.

Except maybe rule34.

Because social media wasn't at its peak yet. But also because of other factors.

The movie is at a weird age now where it's not old enough to invoke nostalgia. But also not new enough to be on people's mind as "a film I have seen a couple years ago".

It's a bit similar to harry potter or the hunger games right now. nobody talks or thinks about those movies because they are at that same "weird age"

a slut

good, fandoms are 99% dramatizing garbage

you should be shitposting in capeshit threads
avatar is the best film I've seen from humanity so far

lmao

not real

...

Thanks for admitting I'm cool. Now admit the movie was horrible and a complete cgi shitfest.

>guys the natives were actually more advanced and moral than us, that's why european explorers found them eating and raping babies around camp fires.

^lol make a movie about that.

... the worst "meme" on Yea Forums, from a dumb movie for soccer moms, with script stolen from a children's movie

be retarded somewhere else

Cry more.
>This is what butthurt haters actually believe.

That's totally wrong. As if movies didn't have an impact before social media. As if "why so serious" and the Joker make up didn't go viral in 2008, as if Matrix was not in every magazine and in everyday conversation, as if Jurassic Park didn't help with the dino trend of early 90s.

People do talk about Harry Potter, they are releasing games and new movies for the universe, you can argue they are just squeezing it with less relevant content, alright, but everyone recognizes the red and yellow scarf, or knows who the fuck is Dumbledore or that Ron is the red head, even if they haven't watched or read any of HP. No one says "wow, that's totally a Jake Sully thing!"

Shout "who you wanna call" and people know what you mean. Put a pirate hat and eye make up and people will call you Jack Sparrow even if you look nothing like him. If one thing is within another within another, you call it Inception and people get it.

Avatar had no cultural impact. It's ugly, forced, bland, not interesting enough. There is not one thing that it is remembered for. It's financial success was a one of a kind exception and related to 3D lobby in cinemas.

I just hate how colonialism is always looked at as evil imperialism.

>pioneers find some land that is doing nothing, decide to farm and mine resources, literally mongoloid retard children in the forest are suddenly philosphers and noble.

What about the poor people who just want to live peacefully and carve out some meaningful existence for their families?

neither are you

Is that a nipple?

Fpbp

Looks like it to me, what a slut.

no of course not. Neytiri isn't a slut

zoomer cope

>Neytiri isn't a slut
Yes she is, she's a big blue slut monkey.

please do not call Neytiri "a big blue slut monkey.", it's both offensive and incorrect

Why is she eating a poo?

she's not

I think the reason is that it really wasn't connected to any contemporary real world phenomenon or cultural movement. It wasn't that far from Dances with wolves and Disney's Pocahontas. Obama was elected so the minority-angle probably felt redundant at the time.

In effect it was a quite safe and derivative self-contained story wrapped in very attractive package. A mediocre film, a stunning tech demo.

Unfortunately second rate "3D" stained its potential legacy.

Not even cosplayers went for it. Nothing there to justify a franchise.

a big blue nigger

please do not call Neytiri "a big blue nigger", it's both offensive and incorrect

It does look like it though

no it doesn't

And 100% of what franchises shoot for.

Would probably still be at #1 if they spent money rereleasing like the competition instead of buying all these shills.

Like there's anyone else that would be making three beancounter threads a day.
