He’s not a basic police officer in the show.
He’s a former soecial operations soldier who’s working as personal security for a high level politician.
In case you’re unaware, special ops type soldiers who wind up as security for VIPs are not basic level soldiers.
SAS and SBS soldiers are routinely assigned security guard duty, where they have to wear suits, and escort politicians, as part of their training.
SAS training was estimated at one point to cost £1,000,000 to £2,000,000 per soldier.
You don’t throw away someone with this kind of skill unless they’re a major liability.
Shifting the officer to another branch such as Special Branch, or armed police response or something similar would be more likely.
