yes, just like the witch but it's still better than anything hollywood can offer.

All filmmaking is dishonest

why that man pipe up side downs?

All storytelling is dishonest

keeps the smoke out of his eyes

There's levels to it. For example, compare a movie like this to like City of God or something, the authenticity, honesty, necessity for the story being told in the first place, are on completely different levels

But it's still all bullshit. Watch F for Fake

So the rain won't extinguish it. The tobacco is sticky and it won't fall out because it's tightly packed in there.

This board is dishonest.

It's not. This is a simple story and Eggers doesn't try to hide it. Inarritu is dishonest (or rather pretentious) because he believes his films are deep masterpieces and they really aren't.

Eggers likes folklore and period pieces. Sure, others compared Lighthouse to Tarkovsky or Bergman, but Eggers himself said this:
>while Eggers agrees that the film “uses a lot of horror tropes,” he sees it, with a nod to the pulp magazine that published H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard, as more of “a weird tale, made with tension and dread.”

>“a weird tale, made with tension and dread.”
Cringe

Based Eggers
It's based on the same story where 2 guys are stuck in a lighthouse.

Movies are not dishonest, innately, because they are movies. The fact it isn't 'real' doesn't make it dishonest. You know they are actors and so there is no deception on the part of the viewer. Unless, of course, you play off a fake story as a 'true story'. Hence why most "based on a true story" movies are, relatively, dishonest.

But in terms of degrees of guilt this is pretty minor. The worst offenders would be documentaries which can skew footage to appear onesided quite easily.
