As a martial artist, Lee and the whole crowd of martial artists he trained with were ahead of their time and had the right approach. Chuck Norris did a lot more than just karate for example, and was quick to learn BJJ when that came around. Same with Inosanto.

True, going for a takedown when drunk or when you are not extremely good at them is a recipe for disaster. However if the takedown works it can win the fight right there. Having someone(especially if they weigh more then you) on top of you is fucked. That being said, I am 100 percent against fights going to the ground, it’s gay and takes away from the “honor” of a good old fight fight.
