Shouldn't have worn the ear ring

artie wanted to be a tough guy. it's depressing to see him go out of his way to get caught up in trouble when he has a successful restaurant and a sexy wife

Artie should've just been happy with what he had. He had a loving wife, two healthy children, and a successful restaurant.

Artie caused almost all of his personal misery with his own insecurities. He wanted to be Tony.

but thats every other episode

Artie getting elbowed in the eye is one of the greatest scenes ever put to film.

He kinda deserves it

Jean-Philipe! Quest que se man? Message machine broken?

>Watch Sopranos
>end up hating Livia, Janice, and Charmaine
>Watch Sopranos again multiple years later
>realize that Livia, Janice, and Charmaine are some of the best characters in the series
Why is this? I've watched Breaking Bad multiple times and Skylar still comes off as an unlikable cunt.

did the french guy get away with it?

were they flying over to france to put the squeeze on him?

It's because they are fully fleshed out characters, and viewers get to find out why they are that way as the show progresses.

>frog eating french f..
>what was that?!
> i have a daughter who needs braces!

He got a visit from Furio.

how come that French guy was able to kick Artie's ass but then Artie was able to beat up Benny at his own house?

Benny did get his ass kicked like three or four times throughout the series too, haha

It is because you see yourself in him. He is a weak male but likes to think of himself as a tough guy.

it's funny though
the only characters I somewhat dislike are the younger characters

Sopranos did a lot of things really well, but casting child/young adult actors was not one of them. Meadow was the only one who was remotely passable.
AJ was wooden as fuck, especially in the episode where he is having his existentialism crisis. His acting was atrocious there.
Jackie Jr. was incredibly obnoxious and even though part of that was supposed to be his character, the more he shows up (Season 3) the more you start to realize that the actor playing him just isn't that good at his job.
The worst was Finn though, Jesus Fucking Christ. He was the worst actor in the entire series by leaps and bounds.

T-1000's son wasn't very good either

Artie goes to great lengths to create organic, genuine life-sustaining nature and will kill to defend it and his natural territory. Tony goes to great lengths to destroy everything but himself, and cries like a child in the face of nature invading his desolate and soulless backyard. Tony fears the inevitability of nature, of the cycle of life, death, innocence, the loss of innocence, and the ultimate reclamation of nature that is beyond reason, emotion, or morality.

Artie is a righteous man. Tony is a cowardly parasite. Tony knows this in his heart of hearts. This is why Tony admires Artie, and in his own personal way, even fears him. It's also why he tries his best to keep him as a friend - to not only calm his secret fear of Artie, but also to feel intelligent and superior to Artie as a scheming undercover threat to him. Tony rationalizes his unwillingness to harm Artie as his true love for him as a friend, and by using Artie, a hardworking self-made artist and respectable businessman, to legitimize his own ego and image.

But the core truth depresses and frightens Tony, and shatters his tough-guy narcissism. Artie doesn't fear Tony or anyone else, not because he's a tough-guy, or a naïve fool, but because he simply doesn't need to as a man who understands the horrors of his world, and overcomes them through his own talents and dedication rather than vices and shortcuts involving men he knows are not reliable or trustworthy. He and his wife are the only balanced characters on the show, even more so than Dr. Melfi and the naïve fools she emulates and associates with.

Artie's secret weapon is his wife, like a king's queen on a chessboard. As individuals they were still vulnerable to the schemes and violence surrounding them, but as a unit, they form an impressive and crafty power coupling. Her attractiveness, along with her street smarts, people skills, and loyalty, make her an incredibly formidable person. Together, they represent what working class and middle class people everywhere aspire to be in an otherwise cruel and unforgiving world.

based he's basically the anti-Tony and was the only one to survive pointing a gun at Tony

oh wait nevermind one of the black dudes that attempted to assassinate him lived and junior shot him. I'm retarded.

That final Artie episode with the rabbit was pure kino, one of the very best in the series

>sexy wife
lol no

>tony is strong on the outside, artie is strong on the inside

based

Artie sucker punched benny

he should take him out to that warehouse in patterson

Benny had Artie on the ground and screamed "ya want some more????" then Artie got up and beat the shit out of him. how is that a sucker punch

>beating up a gangster
how did he not anticipate a brutal retaliation?

Vito is that you?

could possibly be johnny sack

i think he was completely fed up and didn't care. he was just ripped off by two people and got beat up. i'm sure he figured Tony wouldn't let him get too hurt either

Benny did get the last laugh too

JT didn't deserve it

No shit, Chrissy deserved to be suffocated

losers kill losers all the time

Because we all realized Livia was right about everything as we got older.

Sometimes I wish the final scene of the series took place at Vesuvio as an eerie curse from Uncle Jun for not letting him kill Little Pussy at the old restaurant.

>hating on Finn
t.ASS MUNCHA

honestly i don't know why it didn't. that would have been kino but i guess they wouldn't have been able to have the same aesthetic. might be risky with possibly other made men being there too

literally gets killed for being worried about getting killed lol

Chrissy was pouring his heart out man and he disrespected that

I feel like Chrissy was too sociopathic to realize how afraid JT was of him after owing him money, as soon as he was first beaten there was no way they could have a normal AA relationship.
