i love laughing at all the little brainlets who think the throne melting scene was just heavy-handed symbolism because they didn't understand the visual imagery of Drogon rising out of snow was a direct parallel to the Night King emerging from fire, which is meant to ask the viewer what the fundamental connection is between the Night King and Drogon, which makes the astute viewer realize that a telepathic link between the Night King and his minions is his only distinguishing characteristic, and this can only mean that Dany also had a telepathic link with Drogon, and therefore the throne melting scene happened because part of Dany lived on inside of Drogon and didn't want to kill her lover Jon, but also didn't want him to steal the throne from her
it's difficult to understand the subtle implications of D&D's masterful use of visual imagery as a plot-telling device, i know :^)

The Others were make weaker in the show. First off, they were cucked by water? They FREEZE water, that's why Essos had legends of them and the Messiah figure because when winter comes they would free the surface of the ocean and cross over even without ships.
Secondly, fire only dismays them, "frozen fire" affects them according to Sam's research. That hints we have an ice dragon waiting to hatch and seems more like Bran and Bloodraven business. Bloodraven has a dragon egg in his possession and apparently is older than the ones Dany got.
