Let’s just keep it real, because I’ve loved this film since I was 9 but it’s just not very good. It is, by all accounts, a visual masterpiece worth watching for its brilliant cinematography, and practical effects that still hold up ably today. There are moments of inspiration, and the source material is classic sci fi. And it’s contributed to the lexicon of science fiction filmmaking in an undeniable way. Rutger Hauer rules.

But this movie is boring as shit, and Harrison Ford is really bad in it. There’s a rape scene in it that is portrayed as romantic, and it’s just fucking hard to watch. They basically tell you everything that’s going to happen in the first ten minutes.

It’s time we all talked about how Ridley Scott actually sucks.

I don't have any kind of proper review up for it, but IMO Midsommar is absolutely groundbreaking. It has a kind of contemporary quality to it that has been missing since the turn of the century. Especially with how technology is dealt with. for fucks sake there's a guy chiefing a huge vape mod the whole time and it doesn't feel forced or even like a joke at all.
I could honestly gush about that movie forever it really left an impression on me.

the director is a soijak who said his film is an allegory for a relationship ending so I don't think too highly of it
