DFW's quote will go over the heads of every zoomer on this board.
are ears lynchian
He remarked often that he sweated a lot and that he wore a bandanna for that purpose. My guess is that someone who lived in their own head as much as he did would get anxious and sweat a lot as a result. Even in the infamous ZDF interview (where he is not wearing a bandanna) he makes mention of how much he's sweating
I don't know why it would, it's a simple idea and worded in a straightforward way
sounds like a retard
>reading something
>the author doesn't describe in excruciating detail the carpeting of the room in which the scene is taking place
idk about dfw but tarantino is a hack and always has been. literally kevin smith tier
Post lines from your favorite lynch kinos
>ALL FUCKING NIGGERS MUST FUCKING HANG
wallace hated tarantino because pulp fiction was the first movie to introduce postmodernism into a mainstream film
He's saying two things: that violence has become so desensitized that it holds no value, and that unlike Tarantino, Lynch understands this and makes use of it accordingly. Tarantino shows a person getting their ear cut off just for the sake of it (for the shock value). You'd have to be unironically pretty stupid to not get what he's trying to say here.
Once upon a time in Hollywood was kino. Pseuds will deny this

what bait? dfw was a famous critic of postmodernism.
Tarantino knows his audience and makes movies acordingly, there's nothing wrong with that.
I dont think he pretends to make anything other than teenage edgy pulp flicks
everything after world War 2 is postmodern
>I dont think he pretends to make anything other than teenage edgy pulp flicks
then why does he get so furious any time someone points it out
>I dont think he pretends to make anything other than teenage edgy pulp flicks
That may be true, but his audience seems to think otherwise. You only have to take a look at the opinions expressed on this very board to know that people genuinely believe his films amount more than to just big budget schlock, and Tarantino knows that and plays the game accordingly.
DFW has been dead for over a decade.
Movie violence is unrealistic and boring and only hacks like Tarantino rely on it as a crutch to intrigue limp wristed normies who are too pussy to watch real violence but adore fake movie violence. I recently showed a self professed horror aficionado friend of mine the video of the guy who gets hit by the train and bisected by a pole on the platform and he nearly cried: this same faggot also clapped and cheered at Hostel and Saw films.
Tarantino is the cinematic equivalent of Franks for white people who can't shut the fuck up about how they love hot sauce and spicy things but gag and choke from anything hotter than tabasco. Lynch at least knows movie violence is ridiculous and doesn't base his film off it.
well because they feel guilty of liking big budget grind house
I dont
>everything after world War 2 is postmodern
In the sense that dfw described postmodernism in relation to pop-culture and literature, not really. Postmodernism in this case refers to a universal acceptance of irony and cynicism. He often spoke of "new sincerity" in contrast to postmodernism which eschewed major tenets of postmodernism, namely insincerity, meta-narratives, pessimism and skepticism.
I can also made fanmade definitions of words but that won't change the meaning
I didn't say that it went over my head, did I?
lol, DFW loved meta-narratives, he wouldn't even be famous if he didn't ape Joyce's penchant for indulgent end-notes.
>David Lynch
>good
What in Sam Hell?
DFW is a faggot and I'm glad he's dead. I never thought American Letters would make another mistake as retarded as Raymond Carver, but lo, DFW came along.
this but unironically
stopped reading right there. fuck off zoomer
what's wrong with Carver?
