Is a movie you dont get right away , bad or good ?

>just realised how genius this movie was for it's social commentary

Was it my bad that I genuinely couldn't see anything other the on the nose messages in the movie and not the carefully "planted" subtext ?
Does it hinder the quality of the movie going experience if it takes time to digest it afterwards when you later recall it ?

And what are these "not on-the-nose" messages?

The message is that christfags are pathetic cuckolds and that Japan saved themselves from disaster by eliminating that gay little desert slave cult from their island.

hi fellow jew

Christians worship the 'king of the jews'. A dead kike on a stick.

Critique of homogeneous society, yet not always negative, it shows how a society like Japan (in the words of the movie) "is a swamp" and "[that] nothing grows here", refereeing to homogeneous societies in ability to change even when it means to deny change which benefits themselves

Its very delicate in how it presents this, but I believe it to be the central message of this movie. My explanation isnt exact but its as close as ive come rn to figuring out the message (i dont think there is much more to go into otherwise)

t.Have been to Japan and can first hand confirm, even after meeting and making lots of Japanese friends

Really depends on the movie. In the case of Silence, it's not the movie that is at fault. Movies that unnecessarily complicate themselves and hide behind pretension are "bad" - example, Inherent Vice.

this was really heavy but it was kino. a great challenge of faith
look where they are now. Human connection has been deconstructed and sold on sushi boats to pick and choose
that's really only what Pilate dubbed him. but I don't really care for antisemitism anyways, Jesus is a Jew
this guy gets it

Im a sucker for beautiful movies and I think the movie was ment to be a bit "harder" to get while watching it for the first time.
It it most defiantly a case of director adding abit too much pretentiousness into the dialogue but it doesn't change the quality of the movie (its well made but at times very hard to digest)

t. Likes the cinematography of Nicolas Refin etc.

>heavy
>great challenge of faith
Yes, my point exactly. Its made specifically to be a somewhat uncomfortable/hard-watch.
But I believe it works well for the movie even though it comes of as needlessly pretentious while watching it.
The faith was the carrot on a stick almost, to keep you going through the movie and to distract you (I think this movie to hide the subtext was deliberate actually) from the message, that message being much more clear now that i've had a good think and re played allot of the scenese

*this move to hide

Anyone know movies with deep subplot ?
I thought Stalker (1979) has one but I haven't been able to decipher it yet (also the movie is kinda forgettable, and yes I am Russian)

Why isn't anyone talking about the other on the nose message that is literally the title?

>watch The Master for the first time and hate it
>mfw I finally get it

I think i understand what you mean, but can you elaborate ?
Do you mean the silence of the native pleb population of Japan against their oppressive rulers ?

I really hope you're pretending to be retarded

>The Master
Fuck, I dont say this allot
>inb4 meme reference
but that movie was kinda of cringy to watch (for me), not saying the movie was terrible or dialogue was written poorly
it was just ... very awkward to watch
And it felt like there was some character growth from the Joker, but in the end they just went full circle again

Gods silence

Jesus was the son of God. While many of his early followers were "Jewish" ethnically, Christianity rapidly spread throughout Rome, where it was shaped, then eventually adapted as the state religion. Roman influence is obvious up to the modern day.

Every notable achievement in European history has been done by Christians. There is no remarkable cultural, scientific, or architectural feat of pagans that can even begin to stand to what Christianity has achieved. The only reminder that it ever existed in the first place is the fact that some northern European cultures eat chocolate eggs on Easter and put a tree in their livingroom on Christmas.

Pagans know deep down that their "religion" is total horseshit, that the only records of its existence were recorded by Christians centuries after it died out. And yet many feel compelled, for whatever reason, to abandon the religion that made Europe great to LARP a long dead sorry excuse of a religion.

During His lifetime, no persons were described as "Jews" anywhere. That fact is supported by theology, history and science. When Jesus was in Judea, it was not the "homeland" of the ancestors of those who today style themselves "Jews". Their ancestors never set a foot in Judea. They existed at that time in Asia, their "homeland", and were known as Khazars. In none of the manuscripts of the original Old or New Testament was Jesus described or referred to as a "Jew". The term originated in the late eighteenth century as an abbreviation of the term Judean and refers to a resident of Judea without regard to race or religion, just as the term "Texan" signifies a person living in Texas.

In spite of the powerful propaganda effort of the so-called "Jews", they have been unable to prove in recorded history that there is one record, prior to that period, of a race religion or nationality, referred to as "Jew". The religious sect in Judea, in the time of Jesus, to which self-styled "Jews" today refer to as "Jews", were known as "Pharisees". "Judaism" today and "Pharisaism" in the time of Jesus are the same.

Jesus abhorred and denounced "Pharisaism"; hence the words, "Woe unto you Scribes and Pharisees, Hypocrites, Ye Serpents, Ye Generation of Vipers".

Im guessing you have a genius idea on what the meaning truly was and think everyone else has no clue... but sure, shoot.

If Silence was meant to be on the nose then you could also attribute it to the fact allot of the movie is silent (wide shots of nature for example)

And Japanese people (just like China) have a long historical presence of Totalitarian governments ruling over the "silenced" majority who fails to overthrow it's ruler (only doing it at the hands of another Tyrant)
For example Ancient Greek Philosophers refereed to the fact that the Asian (mainly China) countries have such men, who aren't prone to rebellion and generally prone to obedience because of the soft climate for example

I see, is that biblical reference or literally the refusal of god to answer the prayers of the Europeans ?

Yes goyim, remember that you are no more special than anyone else.

Is this movie pro christianity or anti? Marty isn't a practicing Catholic anymore and he's already disgraced the religion with Last Temptation of Christ, so I wonder what his intentions were with this. I've seen differing perspectives so far

>Jesus was the son of God
No he wasn’t.

These consecutive posts are the definition of empty vessels making the most noise.

I'm pretty sure the greeks in that time were referring to the people of Asia minor, not east asia, lol

I’m the second user. I only saw it once but I think the title refers to how you can pray even in the most dire of circumstances and be met with gods perceived silence. I don’t remember much of the film aside from the ending though.

Am a bit of a brainlet, but not a blockbuster drone. I like presentation over everything else.
Should I watch this movie?

What was the Master about again? I remember hating it at the time too.

Hate to be that guy but Inherent Vice is foggy on purpose. The main character has no idea what's going on until it's all over and neither does the viewer.

MIght be, but Asian society has been like this for thousand of year - being one of the oldest civilisations in history that still exists countries like china all have a theme throughout thier history of obedience and even recently the Tienanmen square protests being squelched and gating knowledge around anything that could be use against the rule of the CPR - and Japan has a similar climate and historic themes of obedience

Fucking Israeli dogs need to get range banned and this sites quality would fucking jump

Keep posting more brief and meaningless posts that add nothing to a discussions to make yourself appear more meta and hence [in your mind] more intelligent/correct, im sure you've seen it on reddit and thought it was cool

I mean how can you be wrong if all you add to a discussion is the fact that you subscribe to no real idea or thought and are too cool to add to the discussion, instead create a discussion about the discussion itself

t. dumb fuck faggot that couldn't come up with a come back or way to debunk said top quality posts.
I hope you get banned

Well , throughout the movie it doesn't seem like his prairs are ever answered except the one for his faith to prevail, since he doesn't really convert and denounce Christianity , whenever good moments happen in the movie they snatched away and take away that feeling of gods love or answer to prayers

I would recommend watching it again user, despite the movie being a hard watch, its still beautiful and enjoyable to watch on a technical level (at least put it in your backlog)

It's much funnier to call both of you shitforbrains and then watch you post more inane drivel, like how pagans accomplished nothing or that the title refers to the situation of the Japanese.

cringe

Be silent

I’ll give it another watch

fuckin hate inane drivel m8

>inane drivel about Christianity/Paganism
All though i doubt it has something to do with Christianity in particular but instead with any religion/faith entering a homogeneous society it still is a topic that deserves discussion, and you could have written your point of view on the theme

>inane drivel about Japan
oh, you mean the place where the movie is set and who's culture and history is thoroughly exposed and put on display in the movie (wow its almost like the screen writer put this to develop an idea, one that any retard (not you) could confuse for a plot or point of the story).

Are you implying there could be no deeper reference specifically towards that culture ? Are you pretending to be retarded

Did you even watch this film ?

Unironically based

>this entire thread
Kind of unsurprising that it devolved into "dead kike on a stick"posting, but thinking the movie was commentary on Japan - and not God/religion/faith - is perhaps the most retarded thing I've seen all day. Hats off, really.
